  1. Hey Jane. Specialty midcruise was being offered (unadvertised) at 30% off, so Chop's bill was $22.40 + $4.03 "service charge" = $26.43.

There's a story behind this... both my receipts for day 1 + day 2 were $0.00. I didn't question it, thinking that either venue (Chop's or Giovanni's) thought I had paid for my D+ BOGO on one or the other nights and made a mistake. Thinking further, that doesn't make sense as they make you pay on the first night regardless. So for some reason they comped me that first night (Chops) and I didn't question it, I was just grateful and thought that was super nice, thinking perhaps they wanted me to come back as a solo with Mike & Sherri again.... and it turned out I did.

Thus I went to Chops the 2nd time with Mike & Sherri.... again my bill came as $0.00. Stupidly I questioned them this time, thinking I'd magically see a bill on my account later anyways when they figured out they made a mistake. As I questioned, I immediately could tell by Ciprian's body language and facial expression that he wished I didn't say anything, but now that I did he had to make the change (plus I had mentioned the so-called "error" aloud at our table right next door to the Capt's 6-top). Leaving, I thanked Ciprian and said quickly & quietly to him "I shouldn't have said anything, should I?" and all he did was raise his eyebrows and shrug his shoulders with a smile. Bottom line is they would've comped me this meal as well. No clue why and didn't try to find out. The only reason I could think was that Mike & Sherri were on the Ultimate Package and "bigwigs" on the ship in an OS, so perhaps they were simply just being super nice to me. It was the thought that counted once I realized what was going on, and the benefit they gave me the 1st two nights.

Bottom Line: if you see $0.00 on your bill don't question it! Just be grateful and leave a great tip ;):D

Ha Ha!! That’s hilarious. That has happened to us before......but we kept our mouth shut!!!

  2. Hmmm... I can't answer your question except to give you more insite on our tour itself and then you & dh can decide. While the walk isn't strenuous, you are on your feet without many places to sit for the entire two hours. You stand alot. You are in crowds so walking from one point to another is relatively brisk & through several alleyways (including the thinnest alleyway in Amsterdam, single file squeezing through a couple of walls) so if you're at the back of the pack could be easy to get left behind. You end up at the farthest points away from The Dam neighborhood so depending on where your hotel is, a tram or taxi will likely be necessary for you. My gut tells me the specific tour I did would not be good for your dh unfortunately.

When looking for options on-line, I noted a couple of 1.5 hour tours instead of 2 hours. This may help you decide better, as well maybe emailing the tour company? I'm guessing they mnay get asked this a lot and they can cater more to a slower pace.

    :)

Thanks for that great answer. Not sure if we will do this or not. We’ll have to think about it. We will be so busy during the day, that getting to this might be hard.

  3. You know I never believe it is you until I see the toes....;):D

Ha ha ha!!! I still take plenty of those pictures. We even cruised to Canada back in June and the funniest picture was when we sat on one of those rocky “beaches” near St. John and made pictures of our tennis shoes in front of the water!

    Good to hear from you!!

  4. Hi Joe! Would love to cruise on Harmony. And yes....we do love the intimacy of the “smaller” ships, but we are really warming up to the big girls! Especially now that we are Pinnacle and the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen are there for us. We spent two great weeks on the Oasis during Hurricane Irma. Fabulous time!! We will definitely be returning to all those ships when we can!

  5. Wow! Hello Everybody! Someone messaged me about this so I thought I would check it out!! Nice to be remembered. Yes.....I have not been hanging out on Cruise Critic that much lately. Those reviews just about did me in with all the trouble it was to post pictures on here, so I am mostly hanging out on FB.

We have been cruising a lot, especially the last couple of years trying to get to those 700 points!! Which we did last year. We had our Pinnacle celebration on our favorite ship.....Jewel of the Seas. We have been enjoying our Pinnacle status!! We don’t have as many cruises booked for the coming year as I would like, but we are in the process of moving and renovating a house! That has consumed us and is taking all of our cruise money!!

We are sailing on the Jewel at the end of January for a couple of weeks to say goodbye to our very favorite Diego Tripaldi who is retiring at the end of February. We have a British Isles cruise booked for July that I hope we are going to be able to make. And then we are on the LA to New Orleans leg of the Vision’s Panama Canal trip. We will probably book something in between there sometime, but that will likely be last minute.

I have a lot of folks message me all the time about beaches, etc. It’s always fun to hear from everyone. We are still experimenting with lots of new beaches here and there and still visit our old familiar places. I am always looking for new places to go in every port.

Well....thanks for thinking of me!! I’ll keep checking back.

  6. It is quite easy to take the bus to either Nice or Monte Carlo. Once you exit the tender area....walk across the street and to the left. You will see a walkway that goes up a steep hill.....there was a sign there that said Bus to Nice Bus to Monaco. Walk up that hil and you will eventually find a little square where the buses stop. Just hop on whichever bus you want.....to Nice or to Monaco. Really easy.

  7. I must be in the minority. I have NEVER had a problem with the hair dryers and I have very long curly hair.

Yes.....I always carry big rubber bands with me and I use the rubber band method. Works like a charm. Although the hairdryers are small and not very powerful.....they work just fine for me. iI like to sit on the balcony after a shower and air dry my hair just a little before i put product in it and blow dry. Works well for me and I don't have to hold down the button. I always leave the rubber band on the hairdryer in hopes that the next person will see it and understand what it is for. That's how I found out about it!

  8. Wow, talk about someone who I haven't run into here in quite awhile so..... HI! I just checked he itinerary for your 10 nighter on Adventure. That looks really good. If I had seen that earlier I might have booked that instead of the 8 nighter that we just came back from on Freedom. Have a great time.

Hey!!!!! Long time no"see"!! Yeah.....I don't even know how we found that one. Just lucked into it. Then we thought....well, since we're already down there....let's just jump on the Jewel and see all our friends there!!! Just did 5 cruises on her recently. Hanging out mostly on Facebook groups now. Good to hear from you!!

  9. Hello again Jane, nice meeting you on Oasis last year, I hope your upcoming trip report will hold me over till we board AOS.

Hey Bill! Good meeting you, too. I have been so lazy about reviews lately. We were cruising so much there for a while.....I just couldn't keep up. Then Windows 10 got in the way. Mostly I am hanging out with groups on Facebook for the time being!

I AM excited about this special 10 night sailing on Adventure, though.

Hope to see you again soon!

  10. Can anyone confirm if the "Suite/Pinnacle" breakfast is still in Giovanni's or if it has moved to Chops since Chops recently opened? Thanks.

As far as room "revitalization"....we were told in Dec that the rooms would not be "refreshed" until "wet dock" which would be late 2017 or early 2018. The person that told me this is also the same person that told me FR would be moving to SJU and AD would be moving to NJ. However, since we haven't heard any rumors about "cancelled" cruises during that time frame....I am guessing that we might see a "blank" in the AD schedule for May 2018...whenever the schedule is finally released...and the "wet dock" will be during the time between SJU and NJ (or wherever it goes).

    Hey Girl!!

Are you cruising on AD any time soon? We are on March 29th. Looking forward to it.

  11. We've been to the Melia....back when it was a Raddisson property and bought the day pass. I think the price has gone up considerably. We paid $25 at that time. You might want to call them and see what it is now. However......I was very happy with the property. We haven't been in a while because every time we have been there.....the ship leaves at 2 o'clock and there is just not enough time to justify the cost.

  12. Sue.....very nice to meet you this week. I've been reading your comments on CC for years. You, too, Steve!!

Getting ready to head to the theater for B2B. It was rather chaotic last week and took a very long time. Hope it goes faster today. So glad we didn't have to move cabins this morning.

Had an issue with our sea pass account. The $100 OBC I put on for this week with our VIsa card didn't show up. Turns out they are posting it for next week instead. Thanks to the Front Desk Manager, Nick, for catching that. All is Well!

Lunch last week was excellent! Seems like yesterday!! Better get going!

Steve.....will you do amthread for this week as well?
