Not sure where you are sailing to, but if you were sailing out of Seattle, your child would arrive with a negative Covid test, then have a free-of-charge PCR test once at the pier (so two test within about 48 hours).

For Seattle, do you know where they test at the pier? Does it take a lot of time?

For context, when we did this in LA for Navigator, it took an hour to get results back and it was done in a building next door. I'm hoping that if it takes an hour to process, we can get there an hour ahead of our boarding time and get it done.

Thanks, that will be awesome! We are on Navigator's 4 night sailing departing Dec. 16 and was wondering what the Cruise Compass activities will look like, also.  I read a Cruise Critic article from Dec. 2019 that mentioned some of RCCL's usual holiday activities aboard its ships, like an Ugly Sweater Contest, caroling and holiday movies, but we don't know if they will still be doing those things.

    We're on the same sailing!

Right now I'm praying that Omicron doesn't become a huge thing that shuts things down again. My parents are skittish and I don't want us to cancel :(

  3. I need to move my March 2022 Disney Dream cruise to 2023 - we don't feel safe traveling next year plus I think the ships will still limit activities like the kids clubs and if we're paying the Disney premium, I want the full experience. But I made the mistake of booking cruise insurance and so we can't cancel the cruise, but instead have to reschedule.

I heard that the 2023 schedules typically get released between September and October. Does anyone have any insider information as to a more specific time frame?

    Thanks!

  4. They do operate for dinner, it's a couple hours. There is no reason to book this on the ship- unless you are running off to an excursion, at 12p? I'd suggest buying the bake when you get there , seeing what the weather is like. IF you are on an independent tour- then see if they can drop you off at the bake, also may sell you tickets- some do.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but question - where can we buy tickets to the Salmon Bake in Juneau? Does it include the shuttle? Does it ever sell out?

  5. Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I searched the site and princess.com as well and couldn't find it.

I love the personalizer but I'm managing the trip for my family and we have 3 rooms booked. I would love to add all 3 rooms to my personalizer so I can manage the options for each. However, since my name is obviously not on all 3 rooms, I don't know if this is possible.

As anyone done this in the past?

  6. If you want the cabins to be in the same area' date=' make sure your TA marks your booking this way. On Princess, you can ask for a "Do Not Upgrade" to be placed on your bookings, even though it's possible that the cruise line would try to move some of you. But at least if the TA is keeping on top of this, if he or she gets notified about any upgrade, they can turn it down for you.[/quote']

We secured rooms and not the GTY booking. But do you mean that they can still move your room?

  7. most cabins sleep two people but the suites have a sofa that i am sure the steward can make into a bed--make sure this steward is paid accordingly.

even if the cabins are next to each other you might not have the same steward.

My dads room was across the hall from my balcony cabin- he had a different steward that we did

the balcony on the suite might not hold all 9 of you.

what cruise line are you looking at?

Princess - going out on the Ruby July 5th to Alaska.

Since you brought it up, how do you guys tip? I've read that many people get to know their steward which is cool. How would I tip differently for 2 vs 3?

  8. We are cruising in July with our then-1 year old, along with the inlaws (grandparents and siblings) so leaving our kid with the grandparents isn't really an option (unless we leave him with them in the cabin, which might work). We chose a cruise because their family loves to vacation every year, but we didn't want to fly with a 1 year old. We're going to be as cognizant as ever to ensure that he doesn't bother people (e.g. screaming at dinner or at events), but at the same time we'll really try to enjoy ourselves.

  9. Got it! Thanks guys! In the end, we couldn't make that happen. We can get a mini-suite for 2, but super hard getting a interior for 4 and having it close by. We decided to pay more so that the suite and interior rooms are across the hall (on Dolphin deck of the Ruby Princesss - read a lot about covered vs. non-covered balconies, but that's another story).

But I was just curious since it seems to be a loophole, but I guess it's not used that often.

    Thanks all!

  10. Hi guys - we're doing our first cruise to Alaska and we're both excited and confused by this process. Luckily this site is fantastic for information.

So here's a scenario - we have 9 people traveling in a group so we'll need multiple rooms. Would the cruise lines allow us to book an interior for 4, another interior for 3, and a suite for 2, then move people to the suite? It saves money since the 3rd passenger is on the cheaper room.

I figure this is something cruises are aware of but my cruise agent says we can do this. What do you guys think?
