  1. On Oasis in August I attended the muster drill in Jazz in 4 where they scanned my card. Later I received the letter that I missed muster drill but to ignore the letter if I had. I ignored it and I heard nothing further.

I heard that they stopped keel hauling a couple of years ago, something about bad PR and their insurance company not allowing them. I believe they’ve replaced it by having the offending passenger on KP for the week. I bet you’ve all wondered how all those potatoes get peeled.

  2. A few years ago we were standing there with the sun beating down on us, crowded into the back, because we were there first, and we watied and waited and waited. It was very hot and my husband passed out from the heat and the claustrophobia, I guess. They immediately appeared with a wheelchair, had him in an elevator and to the medical center before I ever had a chance to realize what was going on, and that is the only time we've been able to skip one.

On another line, I was wearing a walking cast, and was told that I didn't have to go to the drill on deck. So I didn't. I went to lie down and take a nap, and was paged to go to a meeting room at the other end of the ship, where I had to sit thru a video drill. I told them that I had been told I didn't have to go since I could hardly walk, but someone had told me wrong.

We have learned that on some lines, if you tell them you are claustrophobic, they will let you sit in the library instead of standing on the deck. If everyone gets there on time, checks in and shuts up, it takes less than 10 minutes.

On my very first cruise in 77 it was on deck with life jacket. Our cruise last year was just on deck. This year it was in the MDR.

Everything is closed it before and during.

If you can not handle not drinking for 30 minutes to learn where to go in an emegency and a video that could save your life you may have a problem.

In a another light what happens if you skip a mandatory meeting at work?

  3. If we are talking a US port. Do just like the court system does if they do not answer the roll call instead of a bench warrant, use technology of the key card and cell phone tracking . Find them unless they had a valid reason (medical emergency). Have the armed security hand cuff them. Have an annoucenment that the person(s) held the ship has been found and everyone is welcome to watch them being removed from the ship. Then have the accounting department charge them the cost of holding the ship at dock because of them.

  4. I am the guy who had his left knee replaced and got a staph infection. Was on a pic line for 2.5 months and after 3 more surgery's I can bend my knee about 65 degrees. My advice is not only look into the surgeon, but also look into the history of the hospital. I didn't and it had a history of staph and it changed my life. I was never in a hospital till I was 57 and have had only one day in the last 10 years without pain.

Get more than one opinion also.

    Shipper

In 08 when I had my rt hip done, they almost killed me. Gave me too much anesthesia put me in ICU. It now time for the Lt one same surgeron different hospital. He had a big falling out with the old hospital. So I drive an hour for surgery

  5. Should be two formal nights. Dress code varies. As far as the robes, if you are a certain level in C&A (I think Platinum), you can request them from the cabin attendant. They used to be provided without asking, but I think they changed the policy a few years back.

    Regards,

    Mike

Dress code what that? Lol it more of a suggestion anymore

  6. Do you really think that RCI is doing this for the whopping $100 fee?

For all the other headaches it will cause?

No not a single 100 but when you multpy it by what ever the % of cancellation to booked and taken is it could be a substantial amount to the bottom line. If a 1000 people/quarter book then cancel. That 100 becomes a 100,000 x 4 quarters that 400,000 of money that people gave the cruiseline , just because they decided not to take a cruise they booked a year ago. I have no idea of the actual # or % is Yes it a litle work for someone to put that cabin back on the market. In todays electronic world more than likely when someone cancels it is back on the market with in minutes and no human inyrtaction

  7. I just booked our next cruise will on board Harmony. Was not real please with the agent but that is another story. Did the 100pp deposit for a Junior suite. The paperwork said I had 30 days from last day of current cruise to change date or ship at no charge, if I cancelled the deposit is non refundable. Any change after 30 days there would a 100pp change fee. If I upgraded I would have to pay the full deposit for the upgrade.

It comes down to hotel management. When you reserve a room or cabin it is taken of the open market. The company is planning on you honoring you commitment. If you decide to cancel they must add that cabin back to active inventory. In the rare if never chance no one rebooks you deposit covers some of their loss revenue.

If you make a change they have 2 cabins off the market till the old one goes gack on the market. Hince the change fee covers the operational expense of implementing the change you requested.

Another way to look at it you are building a house once the plans are drawn and you want to make a change you pay a change fee
