  1. When looking at deck plans, I notice that some room numbers are in white while for the same exact cabin the numbers are in black. Is there a reason for this? I haven't found anything that tells me why, just the legend for the connecting cabins or number of pullman bunks.

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks everyone for the input, I think we will go ahead and upgrade to a deluxe balcony stateroom. I can be a bit claustrophobic and being enclosed in a room without a view may not work very well for me! Even though we may not spend a ton of time in the room, being able to enjoy coffee in the morning on the balcony and the sounds and smell of the ocean at night would be yet another great experience. :D

  3. My fiancee and I are sailing on Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the seas in March. We originally booked an interior stateroom and will more than likely be on deck 3 or 4 because of how late we booked the trip. I have been looking at upgrading to either an ocean view, which would probably be the same decks, or a deluxe balcony stateroom which will be deck 7. One reason we are thinking about upgrading is because we are not sure about being on such a low deck and possibly feeling like the room is too small without a window (we know the rooms are small but wonder if they feel even smaller without the window) and another reason is we would like to have the view. I guess we are wondering if it is worth the additional cost for such a short cruise (5 days) or if we would even spend enough time in our room to enjoy the balcony. Opinions??? Thanks in advance:)

  4. They held the Crown and Anchor Top Tier Party the same evening that we left Cozumel in the Colony Club Lounge. Congrats to LT on being top cruiser, and to Jim and Lynn on making Pinnacle Club!

The Colony Club is a multi use area that typically hosts smaller shows and events at night (karaoke, The Quest) and also has the self-leveling pool tables. It's also got big windows that face out over the stern of the ship. RCI will be using the same concept on a much bigger scale on the new Quantum Class ships.

Sailing in March on the Brilliance and was wondering if the Colony Club is open for all passengers or only those in certain staterooms or the RCI club?

Thanks for a great review and excellent pictures!

  5. I didn't go into the Diamond Lounge, however, we really enjoyed the Concierge Lounge. We found ourselves spending time in the lounge every evening for about an hour before we got ready for dinner.

It was relaxing to go sit out on the deck, have a few hors d'oeuvres, which by the way were very good. They had these small little egg things. No clue on earth what they were called, but there were like a micro omelet with a huge boost of deliciousness. Chocolate covered strawberries, and spring rolls just to name a few.

Plus the complimentary drinks were also an added bonus though I didn't have more than one or two during any given time I was there. Our Concierge, Sasha Starke was extremely nice as well and would come out on deck and chat with us for a little while. I couldn't find anything at all to complain about. It was never even crowded which was great. Always a place to sit.

My fiancée and I are sailing on the Brilliance in March (first time cruisers) and have enjoyed reading your reviews and looking at the pictures. We were wondering if the Diamond and Concierge lounges are a "Members Only" type of lounge?

Thanks again for the wonderful review, we can't wait to experience it for ourselves!!

  6. We are heading out on the Brilliance of the Seas March 10th-15th. I am curious about the door decorating and the whys of it. Is it because it makes your door easier to find either for yourself or others?? My fiancée has never been on a cruise and I haven't been on a cruise since 1995 and that was my senior class trip on Dolphin cruise lines. The ship was small and we all knew where to find each other. lol. My fiancée and I keep seeing things about decorating doors and bringing magnets to hang stuff up and we just wanted a little experienced cruiser input. Thanks!!

  7. It adds up...don't forget, if you drink soda or bottled water or nonalcoholic frozen drinks like smoothies during the day, those are also included. I usually get the soda package, so that's $6.50 plus tip, or $7.50 give or take. Subtract that off the top and you're looking at a little over $48 as the remaining cost of the Premium package. All you'd need to drink is 4 $10 glasses of wine a day, or an equivalent mixture of beer, wine, and cocktails, to get pretty darn close to breaking even when you figure in the tip. We don't drink that much during an ordinary week, but on vacation, especially a cruise, we do. I also like the idea that we can sample a few drinks that we might not ordinarily try if we were going to be spending an additional $7-8 per drink.

We know we will drink more on days at sea than we will the days we are in port, which is why we were hoping to buy the soda package for 3 days, a alcohol package for 2 days and just pay a la carte for alcohol the other days. We don't want to spend the entire cruise in a drunken daze so we don't want to have the temptation of a 5 day all you can drink alcohol package. lol

  8. For those like myself who were crazy enough about the Steelers to pay the asking price for the cruise, I've stated a roll call thread on the Brilliance page of the "Meet & Mingle" section.

    Let the countdown begin!

Saw this cruise awhile back and my fiancée is a HUGE Steelers fan. I wanted so badly to book it but knew it was too expensive. I saw last week they were offering a discount of 40% off each person in the remaining cabins so I jumped on it!! He has NO IDEA I am planning this surprise for him. I want to get married on the cruise but the RC wedding packages are way more than I want to spend on top of the cruise. I will have to check out the Meet & Mingle roll call post. Can't wait to get out of this nasty Ohio weather and into the sand and sun!!
