  1. We just got off a cruise involving our four children, oldest age eight and including a nine month old. We had a great time. It was not Alaskan but it was still a cruise. Our kids did great because we didn't try and do things not appropriate for them.

I say life is short. If you and your husband want to go and can afford it. Do it. Your baby won't remember it, but you will. Sometimes waiting for the ideal scenario in life will mean waiting a long time or forever.

    Live your life....

  2. Has anyone done the royal Caribbean zip line excursion on Labadee?

I am wondering where it starts and finishes and where we could sit to try and watch my husband do it.

    Thanks.

  3. I am just curious, why is it when someone talks about bringing bottled water or a favorite beverage (not alcohol) on board, someone mentions carrying it on vs. checking it in?

I'm not debating the various reasons for why people bring drinks, I just don't understand the carry on reason.

  4. I will be traveling with a baby next month and I will be feeding him formula on board.

Does you feel the water on board is "normal" tasting and is treated/cleaned properly?

I am going to bring some bottled water, but it seems to be a crap shoot on whether it is taken away upon boarding or not.

    Thanks!

  5. Interesting. We currently have a card that gives us 2% cash back. I'm trying to figure out what would be our best option when paying for a future cruise.

We pay our cards off each month.

    Thanks for the tips.

  6. We were in a family promenade stateroom on Freedom and we loved it. We had small kids so we could sit at the window and enjoy the mayhem without leaving our room while the kids slept.

The music nights were loud but were done easily before midnight. The rest of the time the noise was not too significant. But we really wore ourselves and our kids out. So when people were tired - they slept! No problem!

  7. I was also on the same sailing.

I'm looking at the departure schedule now and self assist was 8:30-9:30am.

There were some time changes on our sailing, which are the following:

Concierge Lounge opened at 4:30pm to 8-8:30pm , instead of 5pm.

All dining (both MTD and regular dining) was changed to 5:30pm & 8:00pm every night. Show times were also changed on most nights to coincide with dining change. Here's the listing of the shows we had and their times.

    Day 1

Welcome aboard show and a comedian, one show for all guests at 7:15pm

    Late night Adult Comedy 10:15

    Day 2

The Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers, "Invitation to Dance" 8:30pm and 10:15pm

    Day 3

Headliner Show starring Blaze of Glory (Bon Jovi Tribute) 6:45pm and 8:30pm

This show was excellent!!! People dancing in the aisles and in their seats. It was like going to a rock concert. The group was from Canada, lead singer kind of looked like Bon Jovi and and sounded exactly like John Bobn Jovi . One of the guitarist looked like Richie Sambora and sounded like him when playing his guitar.

    Day 4

    Ice Show 1:30pm and 3:30pm

The Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers "Wild, Cool and Swingin" 6:45pm and 8:30pm

    Day 5

The Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers "An Intimate Jazz Cabaret" 7:15pm and 8:15pm (held in the Maharajas Lounge) as all other shows are in the Palance theater. Did not attend so can not comment on show.

    Love and Marriage Game 10:00pm

    Day 6

Headliner Show starring the Magic of Puck 6:45pm and 8:30pm

    Day 7

Headliner Show starring an "Evening with Vocalist/Entertainer Tony B" 6:45pm and 8:30pm

70's Disco Inferno Street Party 10:00pm

    Day 8

Ice Show 1:30pm and 3:30pm (same show as Day 4, just different Muster stations)

The Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers "Fast Forward" 6:45pm and 8:30pm

    Quest 10:00pm

    Silent Party 11:00pm to 1:00am

    Day 9

Farewell Variety show 6:45pm and 8:30pm

Pool attendants did a fantastic job and stayed on top of all chair hogs, I was impressed. You still didn't need your seapass for towels at the pool. But, I was told as of the 5-31-14 sailing and going forward on all sailings, when the ship is in a port only, your seapass will be scanned for towels as too many towels are being left on beaches in the ports.

There were not many D+ aboard, approx 60 so Diamond members were able to use Cloud 9 for our sailing.

This was the calmest sailing we ever had and many days the sea was like a lake. All in all we had a wonderful time as always.[/QUOT

where there any Pinnacles on that cruise ? if so, how many and who was the highest ???

Would any of these shows be appropriate or not be appropriate for a five and eight year old?

I don't want to drag them to too many shows but I thought they may enjoy seeing a show or two. If appropriate of course.

    Thanks!

  8. You're welcome.

Tell them NO and that's it....they're NOT licensed properly in NJ, at least not that we can tell., and probably not insured. .I saw ZERO vehicles that looked like the ones on their site when I was there on Sat, and I was outside in traffic, walking, parking, etc....

BTW NO is actually a complete sentence....:p;):D

Just tell them to drop it like a hot potato.

Somewhere around here, Greatam who owns a shipping/trucking/logistics company wrote a post about the difficulty of doing this...her company looked into it, and she's got all her "I"s dotted and "T"s crossed, and she said it was prohibitively expensive for starters....

I think it was in the last week, not sure what board....

Wow. I followed the posted link, then followed more links, and wow. It just got worse and worse.

So glad I obsessively read and don't just blindly move ahead.

    Thanks so much!!

  9. Oh my gosh! My family is driving me crazy trying to get me to park here.

Yes, it's cheaper than parking at the pier but I don't want to have to wait an hour for a shuttle, with small kids to contend with.

Ugg! Thank you for letting me vent. :-/

  10. This is a more accurate explanation of the reason power strips are not wanted. Note it doesn't have anything to do with the ship being overloaded by too many things plugged into a strip. It is because the circuits on the ship work differently than on land. If there is a fault the strip may pop but only disconnect one side. Current will still flow through the rest of the strip even if the breaker on the strip has tripped. This is the fire hazard. If you use them remember to unplug them when your not in the room with them.

Thank you so much for all the responses.

And thank you for this great explanation. Very interesting and informative and nicely put. :-)

  11. Last time we went on a cruise, the boarding day was kind of a blur. We were unaware we needed to book the ice show quickly or where to do it. I blame trying to juggle three small kids on board. Lol

We are going on Explorer for 9 nights this summer. I want to make sure we are on top of our game this time.

We won't be going to any of the paid restaurants where you need reservations. Other than the ice show, what else will I need to book a specific time for?

Thanks so much for any advice you can give.

  12. Thanks. I saw that too.

We dress smart casual (I guess) even for casual nights. We will not be showing up to dinner looking like we should be in the windjammer.

I guess I was just curious which nights were formal usually. 2nd and 6th for example.
