  1. Can't answer to your drink price question, but we'll soon know as we're on the cruise after yours. We have a drink package and plan to upgrade once aboard so really it's not an issue for us. We've sailed out of Southampton before and the numbers worked out the same either way.

What stood out to me in your post was your comment about tipping - your table mates bragging about removing their tips because they think the staff should be paid more.

They KNEW the deal when they signed up for this cruise. This is how the cruise ship runs. So they must have signed up, boarded the ship, all the while knowing they would not tip the staff, while expecting to be served and waited on, and their cabin cleaned, etc. People just figure in the gratuities as part of the cruise fare. That's how it goes.

If they believe the staff is underpaid, how does NOT paying them help the situation??? I wonder if your table mates believe they're smarter and more enlightened than the rest of us, and that by not paying their tips they're going to singlehandedly change a system that works. I do hope they reconsider and I certainly hope they don't complain about one single thing this last week. The staff works even harder on a TA I would imagine.

Have a great rest of your week.

I hate it when people don't want to pay for their tips!! The staff work very very hard and they deserve their tip in my opinion

  2. Hi everyone, we have booked a cruise on the Eclipse for the southern Caribbean cruise 12 nights December 2016, this will be our second cruise!

I have been looking for flight prices from England to Miami Florida and they are very expensive ! does anyone know of any web-sites etc for cheaper flights?

  3. Due to a medical emergency we have to cancel our cruise last minute. I'm sure I read somewhere way back something about using that booking number to rebook so that you can keep your perks ?. I really have no time to research where to go right now so how do I go about it without losing everything. Thanks

So sorry to here you will not be going on this cruise, we are going on it (hopefully) Just wanted to say hope you get sorted and take care XXX

    Denise

  4. Hi everyone, I hope this question is not too silly, but I am wondering about toiletries on board ship, such as shampoo, soap, hair conditioner etc...what is the quality like? It doesn't matter about the quality of the shampoo/Conditioner for my husband as he doesn't have that much hair to worry about

But my hair will be a total mess if I don't use decent stuff! I am thinking that if I don't have to bring my own it will help with the baggage allowance ;)

Getting near to our first cruise now only 18 days to go

    Thanks

    Denise

  5. Does anyione have a dining room (table) plan for Eclipse that they can share? Many thanks in advance. Getting set to go on Eclipse Nov. 9 and want to find a good table.

We are going on this cruise, its our first ever cruise and we have chosen select dining and booked a table for 7 O'clock for the first few nights and then after that we thought we would just turn up when we felt like it + we have booked 1 speciality restaurant and will probably book another as well... excited.com

  6. You're going to have a wonderful time! No worries on the food. I've been on Eclipse a couple times and we're doing the TA on the sister ship Equinox, and that's our fourth time on her. The only difference besides some decor/color changes is Eclipse has Qsine and Equinox has Silk Harvest.

Oceanview (the buffet) is wonderfully laid out in stations so there isn't one long cafeteria-style line. You can pop in and out from station to station as they are round and there is really no line. Wonderful the way it's set up. Except for the wee hours in the morning there is always something there.

I do recommend enhancing your cruise experience (golly I sound like an ad, don't I? Sorry) by trying the specialty restaurants too. Although Murano is the most elegant of them, and is excellent, we actually prefer the Italian steak venue Tuscan Grill, and usually eat there two or three times per cruise. Well worth it to us, and they have the best setting for a restaurant on the entire ship. Qsine is fun and is comprised of an international selection of creatively displayed small plate offerings. As was said, it's definitely a place to share, so if you want to go, arrange a group meal from your ship's roll call. It's how we did it the first time we went and it was so much fun. Certainly you can go as a couple, we've done that, but you have to ask them to just bring HALF of one person's share so that you can enjoy a larger variety of food. They'll want to bring full servings to each of you but they *can* be coerced!

And....our tradition is to head straight to Bistro on Five (only $7 up charge) upon embarkation. The buffet is a little crazy that first noon, as can be expected, as people learn about it, and of course a bit more crowded with everyone dragging around their luggage as they wait for the rooms to open up. Having a sit down meal in a relaxed atmosphere is definitely *our* preferred way to begin the cruise. The service is a tad slow which is great -- we can sit with our luggage nearby and enjoy the ambiance and a nice meal.

If you are in Aqua Class your dining venue for dinner is Blu and if you're in a suite your dining venue is the main dining room but you can also eat in Blu. We have enjoyed Blu many times and for breakfast it's our favorite place on the ship. Also free to those classes of rooms, but unfortunately unavailable to other pax.

Have a wonderful cruise. If this is your first transatlantic, enjoy!! All those 25 hour sea days are fabulous!!

Oh thanks for this message, Is it best to book Speciality as a package or on ship as and when we fancy it?

  7. Don't feel ripped off! As others have said you must have unfortunately mis-read the information. Of course the MDR & Oceanview are gratis as are a couple of other eateries. The food in all venues is wonderful.

We sailed on the Eclipse summer 2013 and also did the speciality restaurant package. Admittedly not cheap but the food and service in both the Tuscan Grille and Murano was exceptional. Qsine is quirky and well worth a visit but only if you go with a group...otherwise you can't order enough of the dishes to get a taste of everything

    Just relax and enjoy! :D

Thanks Paul, I will its our first cruise

  8. I have been looking at the various Eateries on the Eclipse (we are going in Eclipse next month on a Transatlantic)

Am I right in thinking that only the Main dining Room doesn't cost us extra, but everywhere else does? I've looked at Bistro on Five, Lawn Club, Pool Mast Grill and Ocean View Café on the Celebrity Web-site and they all say extra charge??

    Can anyone help?

Feel a bit ripped off if this is so :-(

  9. Unfortunately our flights are not with Celebrity as I had a stack of air miles to use up.

Car hire may be the best idea. But there must be a left luggage somewhere!

    Stuart

Hope you get sorted Stuart, I'm sure you will...

Have you joined the Roll Call for this cruise?

This is our first cruise, so really looking forward to it.

  10. Hi All

We are on the Eclipse Transatlantic this November and have just had our flights changed. We are now leaving Miami Airport VERY late. (11pm)

Need to find the best thing to do in order to fill all this time.

Celebrity do a shore trip which stores luggage, include hop on hop off bus and than runs you our to the airport - however looks like this only works up to about 2pm which is still very early. - is this true? has anyone done this?

Has anyone found a left luggage place in downtown Miami? we could use this, have a day shopping and get a taxi out to the airport later.

Guess I could also hire a car for the day? if so which is the closest company?

Any ideas or info would be appreciated.

    Stuart

    Hi Stuart

We are doing the same cruise and live near Skipton, we have been told that Celebrity put you up in a Miami hotel for the day when you have a late evening flight (presuming you booked your flight via celebrity) as we did?

  11. Can anyone tell me if the indoor pool on Celebrity Eclipse is charged as extra as part of the spa? We are doing our first ever cruise in November from Southampton and ending in Miami and as it will be cold outside for the first 8 days of the cruise I am just wondering?

  12. Well it will be our first cruise in November on the Eclipse and I am really looking forward to getting dressed up...I hope I won't be the odd one out I would hate that, I have a couple of long dresses not too sparkly and some nice cocktail type dresses and a jumpsuit, can't wait x
