  1. It is a challenge for sure. The manual just makes it extra difficult. The first time I drove on the left was in 2020 when I went to Ireland by myself for three weeks. Drove all over the island and the narrow mountain roads were death defying. I can’t believe they think they’re meant for two vehicles at a time. First few days are terrifying then it was exhilarating. I’m hoping it’s like riding a bike 😬

But if the rates change I’ll definitely do the car or bus service.

  2. They are, but I think I saw enterprise uk had a car for 230 pounds for two days. To get a private driver was over 400 pounds, plus we’re stranded once we’re at our hotel. I honestly wish I had it where we fly into Southhampton but out of Heathrow, which is where we’re currently flying in and out. We’re staying in London a week after the cruise, so we were just going to try the train back into London when we disembark.

but I really want to go to Lyme Regis and bath, being such a huge persuasion and Jane Austen fan. I’m totally going to drive my husband crazy reenacting all the scenes on the Cobb 😂

And your blog was so helpful, btw, especially about Bergen being a long walk to the city center. I’m really debating, also, on getting the u limited dining package. I feel it would be worth the money to be able to try them all.

    Hi,

With regards to my understanding of the change in housekeeping for non suites, housekeeping will be performed once per day. If we have a sofa bed and choose early housekeeping, will they make up the bed and leave it as a bed all day?

    thanks

We did wonder of the seas last month and our attendant told us he was going to clean our room in the evening, but put the sofa bed away in the morning. He only did that on the first day and for the rest of the week he just left it out. The problem being, not only is the room small, but the sofa bed blocked the balcony so not once was I able to sit out there to enjoy it. In hindsight I should’ve went to guest services but didn’t want to be a ‘problem’. That was my sixth cruise with royal and by far the worst. They need to address this stateroom business.

    You need to book early.

I booked for March 2025 the week that it was released and booked an Oceanview balcony, 3 adults under a group rate for $3600 total, taxes included.

I’m guessing the prices are high because it will be a brand new ship in 2024/spring. In 2025 the prices should be lower, so a good deal for you!

  5. Yeah, prices are crazy.

They are..I booked the icon for next spring on ‘next cruise’, March 2024 and for two adults and a teenager in an ocean balcony was $6200 usd. So I just upgraded and did a suite (first time ever) in the family surf suite. They’re not much more at that rate plus you have the sky class benefits.

We have done eMed home test for all of our cruises. Fast. Easy. Efficient. We take a test while sipping coffee at the kitchen table and have test results within a minute of showing the proctor our negative results. Best yet, when we file a claim, our insurance company covers 100% of the cost of the home test = Free.

I just bought 6 of them to take with us for the wonder of the seas next week. I fly out early to Barcelona, too early to be able to go to a Walgreens. Do you know if the emed test can be done at 6am? Not sure if the medical professionals are working 24 hours or between certain times.

My niece called RCCL to book a cruise for her mom.  When she told the rep she wanted to choose their balcony stateroom, the rep told her that she would have to pay extra per person to select their own room, but if RCCL assigns the room, they would be guaranteed a balcony stateroom.  NEVER heard of this!  So they didn’t select a stateroom. I told her to call back and get a different rep.  Have any of you heard of this? Or is this something new?  She’s at work right now, so I don’t know if she’s had a chance to call them again.

strange, I’ve never been charged in selecting a specific room. Either I can or can’t—meaning, if I go with the cheaper option with ‘guaranteed ocean balcony’ then it’s picked for me.

Otherwise it has you select the room number on the map before buying your cruise. The only time it’s more money is if you select a room above the class you initially selected.

I’d book a small group tour with Romeinlimo you’d be wasting your time and money using a RCG tour and won’t see or visit any site properly.

    Don’t waste your money.

Having said that I wouldn’t attempt Rome with two small

  10. I can speak for St. Kitts and St. Thomas, since I've been there several times with young boys. We always have found getting a taxi once we dis-embark is the cheapest way. Our most favorite beach in St. Thomas is Magens Bay. The cost was minimal to take us to the beach, and coming back, the driver even swings by look out point to get a banana daiquiri, shop, and take photos. Never had a problem. Just research ahead of time which beaches you want to see, or tourist attractions, and the taxi drivers will take you. Magens Bay is absolutely stunning, and the nude beach goers are out of site from children's little eyes.

  11. Thanks for all the input, everybody. Yesterday I booked cabin 12729, the last cabin near the slide, and was wondering just how blocked the view will be. I sailed the Oasis three times and always had an Ocean Balcony. I do like how they're giving two soda packages away with these rooms, but the truth is, if the price drops, I may end up upgrading to Ocean Balcony again. We shall see.

I'm going to see Adele on Monday night and will do my first periscope from there just to see how it works.

    But....WE CRUISE IN 19 DAYS!!!!!

Stacynray!!! I watched your scope. I was so jealous!! My daughter and I were dancing and singing around the kitchen. Lol [emoji126]🏻[emoji126]🏻[emoji126]🏻[emoji126]🏻. It was very fun. Thanks for sharing !!

Really? I'm so glad I did it then! She's great, isn't she? I only wish I could've periscoped her whole concert, but the connection only worked before and at the end of the concert.

  13. Stacynray: From your countdown we will be on the Oasis at the same time. Looking forward to it and I am hoping to "scope" also but not sure yet. My husband may be doing it instead. :(

This will sound strange, but I've always had a fear of video cameras. I've ducked and dodged them as much as I could my entire life. Cameras too but that's harder to get around. So I won't be on the video, but having even my voice on it freaks me out a bit. But I will. I'm going to see Adele on Monday night and will do my first periscope from there just to see how it works.

    But....WE CRUISE IN 19 DAYS!!!!!

  14. My daughter is a junior in college so I know what you mean. I even sailed with her on the oasis and was worried many times myself.

Try not to cry too much tomorrow morning, we wouldn't want anyone to slip and fall on their way out. At least you have a couple of days in Florida to look forward to. I always wanted to do that and yet I always get a direct flight back to this paradise I call Indiana. Looking forward to that report, but no rush. Hey, with all your guacamole eating adventures, I ordered myself some tonight but it wasn't the same. Yours on video looked better than mine in real life.

  15. FYI - if your wondering what happens on a ship on the last night at almost 1am.

    Kids making out everywhere!!!!

So I am up ( just finished closing down the Schooner bar for the last time) waiting for my youngest to finish her last game in the teen club. (Yes I checked and she is I there playing the game like many of the kids)

So I decide to walk around because if I sit I will almost certainly fall asleep. Omg tomorrow is going to come too soon.

Anyway I decide to walk to the back of the ship... Unfortunately I stumble on some summer romance. Guess I'll move along

Hmmm - what's happening mid ship? One hottie full of guys. The other - one boy and one girl(I think). They are in full lip lock so it's hard to tell. Ok then. This is awkward.

Hmm - were to go. I know. Wing bridge. Nice and quiet up there.

Up ahead in the distance I see a shimmering light.

Oh wait I just stepped on someone. The wing bridge is apparently make out central. Both wings which are very dark compared to the center area of the wing bridge are covered in teens having that one last hoorah!!

It's actually kind of funny.... Only because it's not my girls!!!! So here I am in the middle of the wing bridge looking at the lights off in the distance and making. All the kids around me.... Very uncomfortable. My work here is done.!!

    Parents of teens take note.

That's funny. It's romantic. Don't you remember those days? Gosh, I know I do. I'm forty but it feels like yesterday. Ironically enough I have this playing

The youth is wasted on the young~

  16. Periscope name the same as on here? Need to add you to the list :)

Good morning Geeocacher! I'm sorry, I just saw this. My periscope name is @Thereal_ssteele. I know it's long, it was created for twitter in 2009. Hopefully I'll periscope before my trip just to test it out. I heard Alan mention today he has an ear piece. Anyone know what kind to use?

  17. Without further ado - Here is the video from the Dragon's Breath Flight line. I have been very busy having fun (and taking notes) Thanks for your patience while I get my review completed. Also - have a ton of pictures but want to weed out the hundreds of lousy shots and get it to a more manageable number

    Alan

Awesome video, Alan. I can't wait for more but glad you're enjoying your vacation. Like others have stated, CC can wait. You're making memories and that's what's important!

  18. you are doing a great job....I will be reporting on our cruise, on 7/30..I have done reviews before...but never scoped...staceynray you should scope if you feel inclined....we are on the same cruise...always good to get various perspectives...I support you scoping

Oh, so you are scoping? That's good. At least the ship will be covered. I may try scoping too on the ship, and even before to try it out. You guys can get a view of Indiana. I know, you don't have to say it. Exciting times.

  19. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] stacynray!! Im with ya girl on the filtering. I'm in room 7154. The superior balcony ocean view . I am a new cruiser, I

Wish I was on the starboard side but only 14th floor was available with the nursery and kids activities on that deck.

    4 grandchildren in 3 years[emoji848]

(I love them all!!). But, my first thought when looking at that location was..

    "Shoot me now "

    What room are you in?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I'm in a ocean balcony cabin 12282, on the port side. I googled it, but what is the draw of starboard vs port? I'm sailing with my mom, sister and her family, and a friend of the family, and they're all in a crown loft suite. Horrible way to sail, isn't it?

I'll be sailing on April 1st of next year and I'm still debating between the Harmony or the Oasis. It will be a thousand dollars difference, and I just don't know if there's a big enough difference between the two ships to justify that.
