  1. We took that exact trip two years ago and booked it again for next year. It was our favorite! There are easy shuttles from Houston. Depending on the time of year it's cooler temperature wise when you depart vs a Florida port, but still a wonderful trip. Every cruise is an adventure, we find the positive in everything. Last time we spend some time at the space center the day before. I've never been on an oasis ship, but we find the freedom class to be full of things to do. My only concern about us repeating the same ship so soon is the headliner show will probably not have changed yet. But if it's your first time going I think you'll like Liberty.

Roatan we did Daniel johnsons monkey sloth hangout and they gave us a private tour of the island. So awesome, will do again!! Very very nice people. Next time we're doing snorkeling with them just to change it up a little.

Belize we did cave tubing, also great! Cavetubing.bz

In Cozumel we drove dune buggies around the island. Super fun!

That whole trip was so magical I was moping for a month after we returned and felt like I should move to the Caribbean. I guess that's why we're doing it again next year! ;)

  2. we'll be traveling with a 15 and 11 yr old, first time taking the kids with us. They won't want to be separated much and we'd rather have the 11yr old with his older brother doing those activities instead of with the much younger kids. Is this going to be possible? Or will they prevent him from participating? Looks like the teen age range starts at age 12.

    Thanks!

  3. I don't have video but two in our group used the slides yesterday. They are racing slides. We were advised that fastest sliding is done by arching your bum up so only your head or shoulders touch and your feet. He said its so fast he felt G forces around the corners and shot out the end. Also said its very smooth. Almost like you can't feel the seams. Two thumbs up from our group. Tidal wave still not open. Still testing.

  4. Loved the Voom on Oasis a few weeks ago, you could get Netflix even. Just got off LB on Sunday, and the plan is for them to have it in June. I was surprised it wasn't going to be done in Dry dock. Disappointing, since once you go Voom, it's hard to go back:)

Omgosh. This is terrible news. Are they sure? I was so hoping it would happen in drydock. We sail February 14. Not sure how I'll get things done now.

How was the speed when you sailed? Unusable? If we buy the weekly package and it's too slow to use can we get a refund?

    Thanks for the info.

  5. Waterslides, new restaurants, new cabins, general sprucing up, improved internet.

I'm desperately looking for confirmation of the improved internet. I've only seen it mentioned one place, but nothing official from Royal. Their current internet sounds like dialup. Not useful.

If VOOM does get installed during drydock I may just start having my USPS mail forwarded to the ship long term. :) That would be fantastic.

  6. Ok. here are my options so far.

    1. Take Royal Shuttle. But I'm reading stories of sitting on a giant bus for 1 1/2 hrs waiting for it to fill. One person in our party is leery of being stuck on the bus that long (too many people in tight spaces). And cost is $47/pp (4 of us)

    2. Take galvestonlimo.com But if ship comes in late or we somehow miss our 9:30 shuttle time there's no refund. Price is better, but not if we miss it and pay twice for something else. Waiting for next slot not possible, would be at airport too close to flight departure. We are returning to port 2/21/16, so fog may be an issue.

    3. Taxi. More expensive than shuttles and I can't get a beed on whether they are always available. There are 4 of us plus luggage, so a small car isn't going to cut it. In your experience will there be enough van type taxi's in line if we self disembark around 8 and work our way through customs? Or do people usually reserve a taxi? I like the quickness of the taxi's though.

The fun options are all full. pink taxi, galveston express, both full.

Does anyone have experience with the 3 options above? I really want to use galvestonlimo to save $$, but worried we'll miss our time slot. I hate nonrefundable options.

  7. Having no idea when the ship will actually dock, and hearing how chaotic disembarking is at Galvestion (Liberty of the Seas), is it ok to just flag down a taxi and take that back to IAH? Are there a lot of taxis available or will we be left stuck at the port?

Flight out of IAH not until 2:30pm.
