  1. We did not eat at any of the specialty restaurants this time, but did back in May and we felt that the food was just as good in the main dining rooms. However, this time the food in the main dining room was not as good and the service was very slow, from start to finish it took about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. We did not even attempt the specialty restaurants this time because we felt that the quality has probably gone down throughout the ship. After speaking with several crew members we have come to the conclusion that NCL is finding ways to cut costs. They no longer offer lobster complimentary and they no longer have the chocolate buffet and I am pretty sure they have cut cost with the food throughout the ship. But the ship is still amazing and the entertainment is superb and the Illusionarium is well worth the price. We had floor seats and sat at table 3 which was fantastic, just make sure you get in line at least an hour early to assure a good seat. We had the same cruise director, Joel (Jersey Boy) and he was just as energetic as we remembered. I must say that this time I had a wonderful cabin steward and my daughter who was in another cabin a little ways from mine was super as well. When we sailed in May my steward was horrible, she hardly ever serviced my cabin and was down right rude to me. I honestly believe she was afraid to come into my cabin. I think she thought I was contagious or something as I have a tracheostomy. Sorry, I sort of got off subject, but I really do love the Getaway and I'm sure despite the food we will sail her again!

  2. I just recently sailed on the getaway and was in cabin 9116. The cabin was great, had a lot of storage, the bed was near the balcony, and the balcony was larger than others. I personally feel that all balconies should be this size. The only time being exposed was a problem was when it rained, but other than that, no problem at all. The waters were choppy so movement was felt throughout the ship practically the entire week. The only problem I had was the long walk down the hall to get to my cabin, would have preferred one closer to the stairs/elevator. My mom was booked in a mini-suite right as you get off the elevator and that was great! However, her balcony was like a shoe box, but her bathroom was great. We had sailed on the getaway back in May and I had a mini-suite with a large balcony and the balcony was bigger than the B6 I was just in, but the cabin itself seemed the same size other than the bigger bathroom. The ship itself is amazing, however, I felt the food was not. I don't remember the food being that bad back in May. This was the first cruise my family and I didn't gain weight on! Anyways, I'm sure you will have an amazing time on this amazing ship...enjoy your cruise!

  3. I would definitely cancel the water package and take a case of water on with you. I have an upright cooler with wheels and put a case of water in it and we have never had an issue. I mean $4 or $5 beats $58 any day! We are sailing on the Allure of the Seas this Sunday and we would usually take our water on, but my son and I are getting the royal replenish package for $140 each and it includes bottled water along with the better coffee and tea plus fresh squeezed orange juice and soda oh and non alcoholic frozen drinks which is right up my alley because I don't drink alcohol. My daughter is purchasing the "alcoholic" package for $385.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  4. Enjoyed reading your review. We are sailing on the Allure in August and we will be in cabin 10170. Hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions? Was the bed in your stateroom near the balcony? Also, were there any outlets near the bed? I have a lot of medical equipment that I use at night that has to be plugged in. Thank you for your help and again for posting a great review of your vacation!
