I am just curious, what is the minimum bid? And thanks for sharing this, most people only mention the minimum bid but there is usually quite a range between minimum and maximum bid.
min bid is usually slightly less than 1/3 of the max bid, so in this case would be something like $1500?

On the Oasis Apr 7 booked in a Ocean View Balcony for 4 pax
Originally paid $2450 USD.
received the Royal UP email about 6 weeks ago. These were the starting bids:
Owner Suite - $800 pp
Grand Suite - $500 pp
Junior Suite - $200 pp
Ultra Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony (I believet this is the room for 6 pax with bunk beds) - $150 pp
Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony - $100 pp
Entered a bid for GS/JS/Ultra Spacious Ocean View. Fingers crossed.
GS for a total of $3400 on a 7 days Oasis for 4 people does not seem too bad. Considering I already purchased the Key for $280 total - and would refund it if I can get GS since it will have many of the perks as the Key.
So....since Oasis got cancelled. I rebooked on Harmony Apr out of Fort Lauderdale for about the same price, on Apr 28 sailing (it's $150 more on Harmony, for Boardwalk balcony stateroom 9xxx)
I received Royal UP almost immediately. Knowing the sailing is completely full, especially with some spillover from Oasis. I'm not going to put in a bid. But here's what the bid details were:
Junior Suite - $400 pp (this seems quite expensive)
Ultra Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony - $250 pp
Spacious Ocean View (could be larger stateroom or larger balcony) - $200 pp
Ocean View Balcony - $100 pp
Cheers,

You are missing my point completely. First of all, it's horrible if there is a class anywhere that allows such a ratio you have mentioned. That's just wrong on many levels. Secondly, I did not at all say that the staff needed to be fully versed on how to meet the specific needs of my kids. What I am saying is that they clearly state they can handle special needs and they obviously couldn't handle ANY special needs I can think of with ratios like that. NOR WOULD I HAVE EVER LEFT MY NON-SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS THERE WHEN THEY WERE SMALL. It felt unsafe, chaotic and not fun. I didn't need one-on-one supervision, nor did I need any unusual kind of thing - just not a ratio that insane. Many of the kids in there looked worried, uneasy and just like you'd expect a kid to look if they were overwhelmed, overstimulated and disconnected. It was awful and had nothing to do with the special needs we had...it was far from being an environment to handle special needs, when they state over and over that they are all trained and welcome special needs kids.
I grew up in Taiwan until age 9. My elementary school classroom had 60+ for 1 teacher. I also was told that in high school it can be as much as 100 students in one class with 1 teacher, sometimes with an aid. That said, I don't think Taiwanese education system is that bad. They are focused a bit more on academics than a broad-based education here in Canada after I moved here.
That said, I have a 2 young ones (4.5 years old with ASD/SPD/OCD/ADHD) and a 18 month old so I can totally understand where you're coming from.

has anyone on the Oasis originally sailing Apr 7 (or the other two sailings) received any refunds yet?
I was told refunds would come Apr 8 but I have not seen anything. -

New Program called "The Key"
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
I purchased the key on the Oasis Apr 7 sailing out of Port Canaveral, about 6 weeks prior at $19.99 per day per adult a pop (we had 4 pax in the cabin but only 2 adults and 2 toddlers, so it was worth it). I believe this was something like 30% off regular price key. However, that sailing got cancelled due to the crane accident in Freeport.
So I rebooked on the Harmony (around Apr 2), sailing out of Fort Lauderdale for Apr 28 sailing. I then purchased the key on Apr 5 through the booking agent for $23.99 per day per adult, slightly more expensive than the Oasis above. Even today in Cruise Planner (Apr 12) I see the key as being available for the same price $23.99.
So if i had a guess, you can buy the key from around 60-days prior to sailing to the time they sell out (maybe 2 weeks prior to sailing). The Royal Caribbean resolutions agent that helped me re-book told me the limit for Keys are set at 5% of total people on board, so if Harmony has a full sailing for 5500 people, 275 people is the max # of keys sold.
