  1. It can be done in a halft day so I would say yes, do it.

The train departs every 20th minute and the trip takes 35 minutes.

The train departs from Østerport, Nørreport, København H (Central station), Ørestad (if you stay at Crowne Plaza, Bella Sky or Cabinn Metro), Tårnby and the airport.

There are 2 stations in central Malmö, Triangeln and Malmö C (Central station) and the city is very walkable.

A single ticket costs 88 kroner oneway but as posted earlier the Øresund Familie ticket will save you some money if you are 2 persons.

Danish Viking - thanks for your advice and information! Sounds like it might a fun excursion!

  2. Hi - not sure if this is the right forum or not or if this question has already been asked, but is it worth traveling from Copenhagen to Malmö? I've heard Malmö is interesting, but is it worth the trip and how difficult is the train ride to get there?

I'll be spending approximately 2.5 days in Copenhagen prior to my cruise and wondered if tacking on Malmö is worth the trip or whether I should spend most of that time in Copenhagen.

    Thanks!

  3. Princess's website is a bit behind on the times. Personally, I find NCL's website to be one of the best in terms of being user-friendly (though I'm sailing on a Carnival cruise soon, and their website is pretty good... I still prefer NCL's).

by the way… i also like the NCL website a little more than the Princess website!

  4. Thanks everybody! I'm really looking forward to the cruise and we plan on spending a few days in Copenhagen before our cruise, so that should be fun.

Victoria - you have great reviews… thanks for all of the photos. I've got a really good sense of what the ship looks like.

Now if I can just get to August……………!

  5. Just booked my Baltic cruise for August 2014 on the Royal Princess! Here's the itinerary:

    1. Copenhagen, Denmark

    2. Oslo, Norway

    3. Aarhus, Denmark

    4. Berlin (Warnemunde), Germany

    5. At Sea

    6. Tallinn, Estonia

    7. St. Petersburg, Russia

    8. St. Petersburg, Russia

    9. Helsinki, Finland

    10. Stockholm (Nynashamn), Sweden

    11. At Sea

    12. Copenhagen, Denmark

This will be my first Princess cruise. The one thing that Princess does that freaks me out a little is all of the disclaimers they give you when you log in to their website. I don't remember that on Norwegian site.

Because of that, I have to ask what I think is a really stupid question and to which I think the answer is "no": do I need any special vaccinations for this trip? I mean I have all the usual things that we get here in the U.S., but their disclaimer made me wonder.

Please be kind if this is a stupid question!

One other question… how worried should I be about tour companies like TJ, Alla, and SPB tours not getting back to the boat in time from excursions. I'm leaning toward using one of these companies because their prices are better and the tours sound better than the ship tours. Once again Princess makes me nervous by saying that the ship will only wait for excursions booked through the cruise company.

Any other advice for this trip you can provide is much appreciated. I'm learning a lot in these forums!

Like another poster said recently, I'm a little nervous because it will be my first cruise on Princess (I've mostly cruised on Norwegian recently). But I'm really excited about the itinerary. The one thing that Princess does that freaks me out a little is all of the disclaimers they give you when you log in to their website. I don't remember that on Norwegians site.

Because of that, I have to ask what I think is a really stupid question and to which I think the answer is "no": do I need any special vaccinations for this trip? I mean I have all the usual things that we get here in the U.S., but their disclaimer made me wonder. I'm also going to post in the Ports section, but thought I would ask here as well.

I'm reading lots of positive reviews about the Royal Princess and I'm really looking forward to using the thermal spa onboard, but if anyone has any other tips or things to know, please respond.

    Thanks!

  7. Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers is going to cost us more than your price range. We are staying there in September prior to our cruise. Cost is $226 per night with breakfast. They offer free transport from airport.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts on this… I went ahead and booked the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen.

4774Papa you are right… it ended up being about $220 a night with taxes and everything, so a little more than my price range, but the reviews were all pretty positive and it looks like a good hotel. Hope you have a good cruise!

  8. Hi,

Currently looking for a hotel in Copenhagen prior to a Baltic cruise on Princess in August 2014. One of the best reviewed hotels on trip advisor.com in my price range ($150-180/night) is the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers.

The pros… it's clean and nice, has excellent reviews, has a free shuttle from the airport, and is in my price range.

The cons… it's not in central Copenhagen, so must take a metro train to downtown, and there's apparently not much around it besides a construction site and a mall.

Does anyone that's been to Copenhagen have any other hotel suggestions? Cleanliness is a big deal for me, and many of the other hotels on trip advisor seem to fail in this category.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  9. My husband and I keep a spreadsheet of potential (then actual) expenses for each cruise we book.

I love the fact that he always budgets the Thermal Suite for me. It is my favorite.

I am sad that the Grand does not have one. (Oh, someone please come and tell me I on wrong!;))

Hi TracieABD… how much do you usually budget for the Thermal Suite? Thanks!

  10. Well, I'm doing that itinerary and will definitely be booking the Enclave. I don't know where you come up with one sea day. I count two sea days. The first one is after Berlin and the second one is after Stockholm.

The first thing I'm doing when I get on the ship is booking it for my wife and I. I don't spend more than a couple of hours on the thermal beds or in the hydrotherapy pools, but those hours are worth it, especially after doing a lot of touring and walking around and on days at sea. This is a cooler weather itinerary and the sea days may not even be pool days, but the indoor hydrotherapy pools are a great way to relax and recharge. Also, some evenings, before a late dinner, the stone beds are nice too. To be honest, when I think of all of the criticisms of this ship because of the things they "left out", this makes up for that with me (well, still not crazy about the dinky balcony). For 11 days, I'm budgeting $225 or so for each of us.

I agree. I did a port intensive Mediterranean cruise and the thermal spa was the one thing that saved me every day!

  11. Hi,

I'm very close to booking the Royal Princess 11-day Baltic trip, but cannot find out the prices for passes to use the thermal spas while on board. I called Princess and they said they cannot tell me ahead of time what the cost for an 11-day pass is. They said I will find out in the Princess Patter when i'm onboard.

This is ridiculous!! If it's a $400-500 cost, I might as well book on Norwegian, which will tell me the cost up front (approx. $200).

Sorry for the rant. I just find it really frustrating.

Does anyone that's been on the Royal Princess recently know the cost? Or does anyone have a Patter from a recent cruise that quotes the cost?

    Any help is appreciated!
