Hopefully Carnival brands follow suit.  While it’s a lot of uncertainty for the lines to not know if their cabins will be full or not, there are people like me who are 44 days out who would prefer to sail but also worry about what could evolve in the next 6 weeks.  I vacillate back and forth on my response... I don’t want to cancel out of fear, but I also don’t want to lose money.

I also love E&O but I do now miss a casual dining venue where after a long day you can just chill with pizza or a burger, without any fuss.

I, as well.  On my last cruise, I found E&O to be to esoteric for my taste, and not as casual as I would have liked.  But food, of course, is subjective.  My wife liked it lots.

We ate there 1 time on a 2 week cruise. The restaurant is very good, but not great. The MDR was our preference or outside dining.

I feel the same.  The restaurant is very good, very nice.  But it's a big meal.  You don't go to TK to eat light.  and we have found the Colonnade and MDR to be our restaurants of choice.

    Currently on Sojourn...

Handre will be on Sojourn for the World Cruise and I heard that Sophie will be brought on for at least part of it.

I never paid much attention to CD's, until we took a pacific cruise where Sophie was CD.  She was so charming, so engaging, that it was a pleasure to be with her.   I think the cruise we were on with her was her last.  She was special.

  5. Hi, there.   I am pretty sure Australia would not allow food and drink to be brought ashore.  Australian immigration goes to defcon 1 if they find you are bringing in a banana.  On our pacific cruise last Oct/Nov, Seabourn did caviar in the pool because of local regulations.

We’re planning a five month cruise with Seabourn that includes free wireless. When we go, should we suspend or temporarily close our att account and just rely on ship or port wireless? We usually don’t need to call anyone, but would this limit us to email in an emergency?

Hi.  You need to be thoughtful on this.  There is a difference between Seabourn's wifi and cell service.  Even if you use shoreside wifi, that doesn't help you if you want to call family, friends, back home, etc.

Tjcox9, on our Transatlantic Lisbon-Barbados on Odyssey this last November there was indeed a USB socket. It is on the vanity table next to the walk in wardrobe.

How did you enjoy your Lisbon-Barbados T/A?  We are doing the 18 day Caribbean/TA this March/April.  thanks much.

  8. Catlover, great stuff!  Thanks much.  I'm on the 18 day Caribbean/transatlantic departing St. Maarten on March 30.  On a scale of 1-10, I would rate our two previous SB cruises an 18.  Both (one caribbean, one transpacific) were simply spectacular.  Appreciate the feedeback.  and I never knew there was a complimentary wine list!

  9. Greetings, and Happy New Year, all; below I attempt to link my review posted of our Dec. 5-17, 2017 Odyssey cruise. If I did it wrong, the review can be found in the review section for the ship.

A question I have is whether what we experienced with embarkation and disembarkation is the norm for Seabourn, or is it usually better organized and executed?

Hi. We were on that cruise, as well. However, reading your review leads me to believe we were on two different ships! I'm pretty picky, yet my wife and I thought this was--by far--the best cruise we've ever taken. We sped through embarkation (arriving at the Port around 1 p.m. or so), and ate and drank like royalty for 12 days. We thought the food and service and ambiance was fabulous. One meal was better than the next, and you couldn't walk three feet without someone offering you a glass of champagne. Anyway, that was our experience.

  10. We are a couple in the mid of our 40s who have been cruising a few times with Oceania and we like it very much. Now we have found a cruise with Seabourn that looks exciting and that also fits well in time for us.

However, we feel somewhat unsure about changing cruise company because we have liked Oceania so much, so the question is what we are going to experience differently? What are the pros and cons about Seabourn?

ditto everything Travelwell said. We were (several times) repeat cruises on the Oceania's Riviera, and then took a Seabourn caribbean cruise on the Odyssey. It spoiled us for any other cruise line. We found the difference to be substantial, not just a little. Hard to imagine a better cruise.

  11. Was St. Kitts the second day of your cruise? I'm wondering when our formal night will be for the Jan 6 Caribbean sailing. In Silversea, formal night happens regularly on the 2nd night. Would Seabourn dedicate a specific evening, or is it random? I don't have this information in my booking documents nor in the website. Thanks for your help.

No, St. Kitts was not the second day for us. We departed from Miami, so it was about midway through our 12 day cruise. I can't remember which night was "formal" night, but if you pop into Seabourn Square they will tell you. We found them to be very accommodating and able to answer every question we had.

Hope you enjoy the beach bbq. the fresh lobster was really delicious.

  12. I’m onboard now and our Beach BBQ is today. The shore excursions guide states in bold type that if you go on an excursion, you WILL miss Caviar in the Surf but you can go straight to the Beach BBQ after.

    We cancelled our excursion!

There was a bit of minor grumbling as we talked to folks last night who booked excursions early and never looked at the in-room excursion guide. They didn’t realize they’d miss part of the day’s events and it was too late to cancel by the time they realized it from talking to others. Tonight is also formal night and on embarkation day, the only only hair appointment times for ladies were earlier than 2 pm or after 6:30 pm. So a few more frustrations there! (I cancelled my 2 pm after deciding I valued my beach time more than an updo!)

We thought the beach bbq caviar in the surf day was one of the highlights of the trip

  13. Back to a Odyssey. We just got home from our December 5 cruise and it was wonderful! Way better than our Sojourn a year ago

No restrictions on champagne nor caviar nor ice cream nor French fries or anything!

Chef Tom (29 years old) was wonderful. We found a handful of staff who got to know us, in fact, went out of their way to call us by name after seeing us two days in a row. Han, Obar morning coffee, Janis Obar bartender helped me pick "a usual" and that, along with my name was automatic

Head bartender Martin was amazing. He was everywhere. Ask him how he is, great answer!

Our room stewardess, perfect, any request was met with overboard response.

    Great service, food, and staff

Same experience here. We couldn't imagine a better cruise. Exceeded all expectations.
