Is this$25 p.p.per day, or for the entire cruise?

Had a mini suite on the escape, just a bigger bathroom.

Wasn't worth the extra we paid above the cost of a balcony.

We just got off the NCL Jade. The service was terrific in all areas of the ship.

 

The food was pretty similar to every other cruise ship we have been on -- the buffets are an assortment of food (some you will like and some you will not). The two main dining rooms have a nice selection and very good food. The specialty restaurants have some really excellent dishes. My kids loved the crepes on the buffet and ate at least one every night of the cruise (even if they had just eaten dinner in some other restaurant). The food at Teppanyaki was delicious and the food at Le Bistro was one of the best things I have ever eaten anywhere. Yes, there were things I didn't like (I do get tired of the lack of dessert choices - although O'Sheehans had apple pie with ice cream!), but overall the food was great.

Fantastic food and service.

I've always preferred NCL and I'll be on the Breakaway in November.

Yes, either Savor or Taste (the two smaller MDRs will be open.) We've only sailed NCL twice but both times there was plenty of room there. Guess most people go to the buffet...or perhaps don't know NCL offers this! Love the option of a sit down lunch with a tablecloth and no fighting crowds on embarkation day!

We too prefer a sit down lunch, and so less crowded. It's always a little known treat not to have to fight the masses in the Garden Cafe.

We have been on multiple Jewel class NCL cruises.

And there's always one of the main dining rooms that is open on embarkation day for lunch.

I was curious as to whether there was an MDR open for lunch on embarkation day on the Escape?

I sure appreciate any help.

If NCL, or any cruise line for that matter won't divulge the breakdown of the grat/SC then we should assume that the people that are taking care of us are getting little of it.

We can't change it. All other cruise lines are doing similar.

If we want to bless the people that are taking care of us, then put greenbacks in their hand.

Then you'll know they got something.

Just be generous☺

We have been on 20 NCL cruises and have always been able to drink the tap water.

We order tap water in the dining rooms also.

 

If you really have to have bottled water, just bring your own.

You can bring water and/or soda.

Bring a case and put a luggage tag on it.

 

Some people say you must carry the water,

but I have seen people turn it in with their luggage.

Who knows, but I think a very nice tip would get it put with your luggage.

(We always tip $1 to $2 per bag depending on

how quickly a porter gets to us - usually $2.)

If your cruising out of Bayport, they won't.

They refused ours and we left it in the car.

No regrets, ship's water was great.

Is the tap water drinkable on the Jade? Or OK for tea/coffee?

 

We have the drinks package - does that include bottles of water also? I think I read somewhere that it doesn't - I might be wrong....

Because your statement is not, or never will be true. Because it happened (wrongly) to you, doesn't mean that it happens to everybody.

I was not trying to be nasty to you, just trying to figure out what went wrong. No, I wasn't there, but I am far from "clueless". Clueless is going to Guest Services first, to try to fix a dining problem.

NCL does handle ADT perfectly.

 

Actually I know where the op is coming from. I don't care if dining is 1% of the cruise. If I had to deal with an 8:15 dining time it would ruin my entire cruise, that is why I said, I would get back off the ship.

If they had made their final decision before we had left Galveston I would have considered this.(aside from the 10 hour drive home)

Honestly it was the ONLY reason I booked with CCL to begin with.

It's statements like this, which is totally untrue, that get people all fired up. I agree, like others have said, that your situation was not handled very well. A few times during my cruise history, I had to see the maître d' to fix dining arrangements. That's why they make themselves available around 1:30 on embarkation day. (it's even listed in the Fun Times). Nicely talking with them usually gets the job done. The "tone" of your posts leads me to believe that you were confrontational when speaking to them, which gets you nowhere. I hope I am wrong with that assumption, and am truly sorry that you didn't get what you were confirmed for.

My "tone" is for current CC members.

I was polite and quite and non-confrontational. Again their resolution was after our meeting with them.

This is simply not true. Most if not all will get it.

Again, the maitre d said that people wanting YTD 10 months before the cruise didn't get it.

So, no one wanted YTD until I requested it 4 months later? ??

Highly unlikely .....

But how was the rest of the cruise? What did you do on the ship? What ports did you visit? What excursions did you take?

 

I guess I don't get how the timing of seven meals can totally ruin a cruise.

When I'm on vacation I do what I want when I want. I do not wait for someone to tell me to go eat dinner at 8:15 p.m.

My choices were either wait till 8:15 p.m., or go eat in the buffet.

My ticket that I paid for this cruise ship tells me I'm entitled to a full sit down dinner every night.

if I get less than that then I'm being short changed by carnival.

I had posted earlier that even though it was incredibly late for dinner the Posh dining staff were TOP NOTCH !!

However, that doesn't override the poor communications of Carnival.

I can get the same type of dinner on Norwegian cruise lines at any time I want it.

I don't have to wait till 8:15p.m. and I don't have to wait for someone to give me a false dinner time.

Anything that carnival does NCL does better and on my time because it is free style.

Again this entire posting was for people to be forewarned.

If they think that they're getting my time dining, most likely they won't.

Sorry, but a confirmation IS a guarantee. It's confirming what you purchased. You buy X, you get confirmation of X, you get X and not Z instead!

 

Using the asst. Maitre'D's logic, having a confirmation of a flight at noon, means you're now flying out at 5PM. :rolleyes:

I agree tell Carnival that

All the more reason to never cruise on Carnival again They don't need me and I reciprocate that feeling.

This is all simply to forewarn any future possible customers that carnival might encounter that they are not forthcoming with their confirmations.what you may think your getting is not what you will have.

With that logic, my cabin, the ship, even the date were merely a request and nothing more.

Seeing as they were ALL on the same page with the YTD.

There is no disclaimer for said request...only the single page confirmation.

I agree,and by voicing my concerns here, hopefully others will do likewise.

At a minimum folks will have the opportunity to call CCL before embarkation to lock in the 6:15 p.m. dining option before they are stuck like I was.

I have a confirmation that No Carnival representative will acknowledge.

They made their choice, the consequences of that choice is to loose a life long customer.

Norwegian Cruise Lines has no difficulty in free-style dining. Including traditional multi - course dinners.

Carnival can only pretend to be kinda like NCL.

I also want to say that the traditional dining staff was TOP NOTCH !! Even gave them a little something extra.

But, finishing dinner at 9:45 p.m. is simply unacceptable for me.

I was told that a confirmation is not a guarantee. The assistant maitre d told us that there were guests that had booked 10 months early and were not guaranteed YTD.

Then don't give a confirmation. Leave it as a request only.

Still a deal breaker....won't be back on Carnival.

I agree. So why the refusal to accommodate us? Especially with a printed confirmation in hand. Easy choice not to return.
