  1. Family of four will be on Liberty of the Seas next week from Cape Liberty NJ (Bayonne) cruise port.  Our flight is not until 2pm at EWR, so I am considering checking out between 10a-11a, which is the latest time for checkout on RCI's website.  My thoughts are we can avoid the early checkout/customs rush, hail a Uber/Lyft quicker, and get out of the port faster.  Thinking that it's more pleasant to wait in our cabin than the airport.  In the past, we've always checked out at the assigned time (around 7a-8a) and herded like cattle through the ship in into terminal.  Since my flight is not until later and the airport is not far, I thought this might work?  Has anyone checkout late?  And if so, do you avoid the rush and chaos?

  2. Leaving next week on Liberty OTS on a short 4-day'er.  Haven't cruised since 2018-ish . . . I recall you were allowed to order more than one app/entree/dessert in the MDR and the wait staff was very gracious about.  Seems they would even encourage it at times.  I really only like to try more than one app, but heard this is no longer a practice?  Can anyone validate one way or the other?

  3. I'm leaving on a RCI 4-night Canada (Halifax) cruise from Cape Liberty next week.  Looking for transportation suggestions from LGA to our hotel in the Battery Park area to the Cape Liberty cruise port on Monday, May 23 and from the cruise port to EWR on Saturday, May 27.  Not familiar with NYC at all and would appreciate your tried and true options.  Thanks in advance.

  4. We'll be on the Symphony of the Seas end of July and one of our ports of call is San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Planning to take the city tour and I typically book shore excursions through the ship, but the 8am tour start time is a little early for our group with age spread from 7 to 77.  Does anyone have feedback on booking shore excursions on their own?  Especially a city tour that starts a little bit later.  I will post this topic on the ports of call area too.  Thanks in advance!

  6. I’ve been on the Allure, Mariner, Liberty, Radiance (2x), and Symphony in June. Outside of the formal nights, I’ve worn a nice pair of shorts with a polo or button down to the MDR and specialty restaurants multiple times. I was far from alone and never felt out of place. Gym shorts, swim trunks, etc., are definitely not appropriate in my humble opinion. I suit up for work five times a week and a vacation where I have to dress up is not a vacation to me. I pay way to much to not dress in what I am comfortable in. Those who claim people in shorts negatively impact their dining experience choose to be miserable and simply need to re-think what should matter and not matter. I for one could care less if someone at the table next to me showed up in a tuxedo or tank top. Wear what you are comfortable wearing during your well deserved and hard earned vacation. Don’t worry about what others think. Enjoy your cruise!

  7. Hey there Cruisers,

Headed out on the Symphony on July 27.

I’m interested in booking the BOGO Dining package, but only interested in doing so if I can book then second meal on Day 4 or later. I am fine with first meal on Day 1. Is the Day 2 strictly enforced or has anyone had sucess booking it on there nights?  Also, I am would like to book Chops + Hooked or 150 Central Park. Will this be a problem?  And is $52.99 a good price for this?  Can this be booked onboard for a better price or is it better to book ahead of time?

I need to book the 1 device Surf and Stream package for work. Is $14.99 a good price?  Does this price ever fluctuate and is there any advantage in booking once onboard as opposed to now?

Much thanks in advance for your feedback!

  8. Hi all,

Considering a Carnival cruise after cruising mostly with RCI and a couple times with NCL over the years.  We have been very happy with both RCI and NCL.  Can anyone provide any feedback as to how Carnival compares to them as far as condition of ship, overall cleanliness, overall service, food quality, kids activities, onboard prices, onboard activities, etc.?  My initial research seems to point in the direction of them being comparable, but I am interested in hearing from those who are more familiar with Carnival.

    Thanks in advance!

  11. We’ll be on the LOS July 29. Can anyone let me know the shows and their start times? I know they are scheduled to work with traditional dining times, but I would like to know the specific start times of each show to schedule My Time Dining, Specialty Dining, and Windjammer arrival time for our group of seven.

Much thanks to all ... !

  12. Hello all,

We are booked on the Liberty of the Seas departing July 29 and our ports include Roatan, Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel.

Thinking about taking our girls, ages 9 and 6 on a cave tubing excursion that includes ziplining in Belize. Not too concerned about my 9-year old, but curious if anyone has taken a 6-year old or smaller child ziplining in Belize. Any feedback as far as how your child handled? The specific shore excursion I am looking at is the only one that starts at age six. All other ziplining requires the child to be at least 8-years old.

And for Roatan, Honduras, does anyone have any beach recommendations. Hoping to find a place that is not super crowded with multiple cruise ship passengers, not too far from port, with convenient transportation options, and beautiful. Hope that's not too much to ask . . . : )

Thanks in advance to all the cruisers out there!

  13. Hello all . . . we are on the July 29 RCI Liberty of the Seas sailing, which will stop in Roatan. Can anyone describe what the immediate cruise port area is like? Is the town within walking distance? Anything to do in the immediate area? Close to a beach or transportation to a beach readily available? I have no problem booking a shore excursion, but there isn't anything great for my group like the other ports of call. I don't want to book a shore excursion just to book a shore excursion. Much thanks in advance for your feedback!

(I will also post this question on the Roatan board)
