Hi Cruisers,
Looking at a cruise on the Boudicca, and have not been on this ship. Cruised on Balmoral and Braemar and always prefer the smaller dining rooms on both. However have no idea which is the nicer dining room on Boudicca. We have a table for two, so not wishing to join large table. We are a quiet couple who like our own company and enjoy eating together alone. Would be grateful of info re their 3 formal dining rooms. Thank you

Hello, we are considering a Thomson Discovery cruise in caribbean, havnt been with Thomson before, so wondered if anyone could advise us. We usually eat around 8-8.30 how easy is it to get a table for two in main dining room? Are there any quiet bars for drinks of an evening, and is there an observatory type bar where you can see out. Are the hairdryers the bathroom wall funnel type or do you get proper hairdryers. Is it really difficult to get a sunbed later on in day. Are there any outside dining for breakfast/lunch. Sorry for list as of late we have cruised with Fred Olsen on Balmoral/Braemar and do tend to like the product, we just fancy a change. Thankyou

Hi All, just received tickets etc for UK cruise from Newcastle. Surprised to see we have been given boarding time of 3.30-4.30? This is a lot later than normal, and we had planned to board around 2o/c.
Does anyone know of any reason why we are so late boarding? We are silver members, but we do have an inside cabin.
Seems we have to hang around the terminal for 2-3 hours as we arrive around 12.30. All our other cruise lines allow us on around 2-2.30?
Thank you

Hi All, thank you so much for your advice, may now use train or coach, Eavesway are not doing this route however. Will have a look and see if there are any deals on the train and then decide. Once again, many thanks to you.............and keep cruising!

Thanks, may do that but would have preferred to drive up, saves messing around loading luggage on train, etc. it is cheaper though.

Thanks for reply, but DFDS charge £12 per night, Premier Inn are not showing any parking deals. We live in B'ham and have a number of offsite parking where they ferry you to the airport, dont appear to have similar operations in Newcastle.

Hi all, thinking of doing a fred cruise from Newcastle, looked up port and its North Shields, Tyne. Parking is very expensive, and cant find any alternatives. Has anyone any ideas of reducing the parking costs, i.e. alternative site, etc. Thankyou

Hi all, booked a cruise with Fred Olsen which sails from Newcastle, Port of Tyne, just checked dock parking and it is very expensive, can't seem to find any cheaper alternatives, does anyone have any suggestions please. Thank you

Could anyone help us with regards to the Boatyard, we are considering going there prior to our flight (we are on a cruise and have 5 hours to waste) but we need to store our suitcases, and also we will not have any towels, does anyone know if you can store suitcases anywhere at the Boatyard and also if you can rent towels. I did email them a couple of days ago and have not had a reply. Thank you. Would also welcome any other recommendations where we may be able to spend some time and also be able to store cases/rent towels. Thank you

Does anyone have any suggestions as what to do in Barbados prior to flight home, we dock on 4th Feb and leave ship around 9am but our flight is not until 5pm. We are looking for either a hotel with pool, luggage storage and towels, or any other ideas? There is only two of us. Wondered if the Boatyard provided luggage storage and towels. We will need to shower and freshen up prior to flight. Thankyou:confused:

Hi, thanks for reply, but we do not need all inclusive, we just would like a nice beach, where we can swim and snooze, may only be there for a few hours. But thank you and will make a note of Nachi Cocom for the future.

We are only in Cozumel for the day by cruiseship, and would just like a nice beach with sea for swimming and loungers. Do not want kids entertainment. Not too far from cruise terminal, does anyone have any recommendations please.

Hi does anyone know what cabins 8020 or 8021 are like? Appreciate they are affected by lifeboats, but are they the new cabins. Also are the hairdryers as poor as the ones in the older cabins, i.e. in bathroom on wall? Thank you

Hi cruisers, we are booked on the Hong Kong to Singapore section next March, and although having cruised with Fred previously, wondered if they kept up the formal nights / theme nights on their world cruise. Our sector is 14 nights so should in theory have 4 formals and at least one theme night. Does anyone know if this will be the case. Thank you

Hi fellow cruisers, we have not sailed from Southampton before so just wondered what time we may be allowed on the Balmoral, we are sailing this Sunday 20th July, apparently the ship sales at 16.30. We will be in Southampton early so wondered at what time we can board. Any ideas?
Thank you

Hi all, can anyone tell me what the hairdryers are like on the ship. Sometimes they are in the bathroom which makes it difficult. Sometimes they are of very poor quality. Don't know whether to take my own. Thanks

Hi Linda, thanks for reply seems you had a great time, can't wait on countdown now. Just a couple of questions, what did people wear on British Night, was it very informal, not certain what to do for this. Also our cabin shows as a twin on the FO site, but can be made up to a double, do we have to request this prior to arriving. This is just great being able to ask questions of someone who's already 'been there - done it'!!!
Thanks

We are independant travellers, not taking a FO flight, and we want to arrange a collection from Santa Cruz, does anyone know what time we will be asked to leave the ship as we have to let the transfer company know. We have a hotel for the day. We are on the 12th March cruise. Thank you

Hi Linda,
Thanks for your advice - if you get a chance when you get back, could you update me. Have a wonderful time.

Hi we are going on the Braemar on the 12th of March and wondered if anyone going on the Braemar canaries cruise 28th Feb - if so could they check the following for me.
Are there any thai/indian food nights?
What is the Palms Cafe like for dining of an evening, we may decide not to use the formal restaurant as the timing may not suit us, we still want to dress up though.
Do you have any deck barbecues and are they on the evening?
What times do the shows/entertainment start of an evening.
This is to give us an idea of how many times we will choose to eat in the main restaurant.
Thank you

Thank you all for your help, seems The Heligan would suit us the most, but if you can't request it then I guess you have to be either in a suite or a premium customer (i.e. elite re days sailing with them). Well if they are all nice then I guess it doesnt really matter. Great advice. Thanks
