This is tragic. I was there earlier this year. It is a beautiful island, but the least developed of the stops we made on our cruise. I loved that. The people were wonderfully warm and friendly. It was the one island I wanted to revisit because of its natural beauty and the people.
Our tour guide told us then their government had thrown all its economic development resources at attracting tourism. The destruction of the infrastructure they need to get basic services to their own is crushing. That it also will devastate their one economic engine breaks my heart.
I would hope the corporations that put cruise ships into that port and make a ton of money off the cruisers would step up financially to help Dominica recover. They can't do it all, but they could help.

I don't know where you got your information but according to the website it's $13 cash only.
Whew! I must have been misreading something on Trip Advisor. This makes much more sense and puts it back into the realm of must-dos. Thanks!!!!

So I just read that it's now $30 cash for the Hemingway House. Is there a lower cost option if you don't do the guided tour? That seems really pricey.

Disney Magic to the Caribbean. So much fun although the weather on sea days was pretty bad. Made some lifelong friends and memories and developed a love for cruising.

You can fly into Norfolk International (ORF) and taxi to downtown Norfolk. I think Amtrak now offers train service to Norfolk, but I'm not too certain about its frequency or reliability. Once out of the northeast corridor, Amtrak can be dicey.
Warning, there's another airport reasonably close in Newport News (PHF). I personally love it since I live near it, but taxi to downtown Norfolk would be very costly and would involve transit through one of our infamous bridge tunnels. Traffic often bogs down there. I'd avoid it.

Hi, crazytomatoes
I saw your review right after I booked 9162. I'm hoping you can answer one question. I know it was your kids' room, but was their balcony also extra large? Does it get any sun at all?
Love your name, btw. [emoji3]

Return it to its rightful owner. Keeping it when you clearly could see what room it belonged to is stealing.

Laughing so hard at these!! Don't want to hijack the thread but I think you'll appreciate this irrational "issue" I was on a Disney Cruise Line vacation. In the elevator one afternoon was a couple complaining long and loud about the ship being too themed and having too many kids. Uh, what? Did you miss Disney in the name?

This sounds terrific!

You will probably have greater success if you request second seating for dinner. First seating is such a hot commodity for parents with little kids that they might be less able to help you.
