  1. I will third that Hawaii on the PoA was magical we sailed in 2014. We are going to Alaska on the Bliss in July so then I can give you an opinion. We spent a couple days in Honolulu before the cruise and toured Pearl Harbor. After the cruise we rented a VRBO on the other side of the island on the beach and visited the Polynesian Center they have a great Luau.

Others above have posted about the other islands which you don't get enough time on. This is reason to go back and do it again!

  2. Yes. The chocolate cowboy we first met on the Getaway and also on the Escape. The room steward we had on the Getaway is now on the Escape. Years back there was a wonderful young lady in administration we met on the Star and saw her again on the Jewel. She remembered details about us and made sure we had an excellent cruise.

  3. Considering a hawaii cruise on POA. The biggest issue i have is getting there from Florida. Finding a reasonable air fare is exhausting.

    Any ideas would be appreciated:):).

We took the POA in 2014 from DFW and yes the airfare was hard to swallow. It took some pre planning but we signed up for a US Airways cc and spent $ within 3 months to earn miles so one of our tickets was free.

We loved our floating hotel to sample the islands. Flying between islands is very expensive. We did go 4 days early and rent a condo on Honolulu before the cruise. The crew was wonderful and the views of Napali Coast were incredible. We would do it again in a heartbeat but Alaska is next on the list.

  4. See my photos in post 22.

We bought the hammock in Cozumel for around $20. I modified it in the second picture with the stretchers to make it a bit more comfortable. We drive do do ace is not an issue but with the stretchers it does take up a lot more space.

I attached about 4 feet of rope to each end just so I have lots of play depending on the balcony. Depending on the ship you may need a pair of "C clamps" to attach to the steel girders.

  5. We went last October with Valley Isle Excursions and Tim was a very good tour guide. There were many stops along the way that were interesting and broke the time on the bus up. The seats are wide and comfortable. We swam at the sacred pools, black sand beach, ate a fine lunch, saw ocean views, waterfalls, desert, flora and fauna. We were very pleased with our excursion. I did a lot of research before booking this because we are more "do it your self ers" but I wanted to get the most out of our day. I read its called "divorce highway" because the road is narrow and markers are difficult to see. Turning around is difficult and missing exits is common so I could visualize the dialog in the car &$/-:;.($)). I made a great decision and we have wonderful pictures and memories to show for it!

  6. We are n00bs to this forum, cruising and Hawaii. We are booked on a mid September Pride of America ship.

Is the premium dining package worth the $119 pp extra on the Pride of America ship?

If so, what are the best restaurants out of the 7 available?

Are there better times seating times to reserve ahead of time?

I'm thinking that if we set sail most evenings by 6 p.m. but also don't want to miss the sunset, unless there is a view from the restaurants.

    What are your experienced opinions?

    Thanks!!:D
