Can anyone who has recently taken a NCL cruise confirm whether they still do a mid-week "fill what you can in this laundry bag and its $30" special?

What is your sail date? I'm also on the Breakaway next week and didn't get luggage tags.

We are going on an NCL Breakaway Cruise next month. We received our luggage tags in the mail yesterday - 2 per person. We were planning on each bringing a suitcase as well as a carry on. If our carry on is a back pack or a closeable tote bag can we place one of our tags on it so we don't have to walk around on the ship that first day with our carry on until the room is ready? I did see where folks checked carry ons once they boarded the ship, but if we could avoid that altogether, it would be nice. Thanks

@Barney Gallagher I think you mean April or May. That said, I will tell you what I do and you can consider others approaches as well. Assuming you will be leaving from Miami or New Orleans. Miami is my favorite because it is NCL new terminal. I get to the port about 10:00 AM. I usually have to wait for the security to open for my cruise. I wait at the beginning of the line which is why I get there early. Every guest has to go through the same security.
Once through the security, go to the end passed the normal counters looking for the Haven Sign. Don't be surprised if the folks at the Port are clueless. Just look for the sign. As you know or don't know, Haven guest can board anytime. They are also the first to board the ship. So you check in at the Haven counter, go to the Haven Port Lounge, take a seat near the door exit to the ship. When you see them open it, get up and walk towards that door. You are first on board, first to check in at Muster, first to talk to the Haven Concierge about any changes you need. That is my approach.
Cruise well and enjoy every moment.
You are correct, I meant May. Thank you!!

Great detailed post.
We are on The Breakaway on March 19-26, 2024. We are staying in The Haven.
We would like to board as early as possible. Is there any trick to doing that or do we just call as soon as possible when the 21 day checkin window starts in ten days?
Thanks!

Tomorrow we are flying into the Fort Lauderdale Airport. We were planning on taking Uber and have a few questions.
1. Where does one pick up Uber at the airport? There will be three of us with three large rollers - do you think we will be required to do Uber XL?
2. Is Uber XL still cheaper and easier than a Cab?
We are staying at the Hampton Inn Brickell
Thanks

Thank you Dan K! Do you have more photos of the Haven room you were in? What number was it? Thanks!

Someone mentioned that there was a "smoking area" in the front of the Haven sun deck? Is this true? The Haven sundeck area does not look that large and it seems odd that they would have a smoking area there, particularly in the front where smoke would blow all over.
We are not opposed to being exposed to a little smoke - walking by the casino does not bother us like some people, but it might bother us all week on a hot sun deck.
Thanks!

1. What day has been the "fill the bag" special Norwegian Escape cruises and how long has it typically taken to get the bag back? I recall when we were on the Norwegian Getaway they said 48 hours, but it seemed to come back 24 hours later.
2. Is there a special on pressing on day one where you can give them your sportcoats, slacks, etc. to press if they have gotten crumpled up in the luggage?

Collecting Coke, we in the Haven on the Escape in room 18712 in about a week. Do you have any pictures of the room you can share? Any thoughts regarding the room? Did you hear any moving of deck chairs from the 19 sun deck at night? Thanks!

If you are dining in The Haven Restaurant on the Escape, and have the Ultimate Beverage Package, do you get a ticket at the end of your meal? If not, do you typically leave a cash tip? If so, what amount for breakfast, lunch and dinner? We paid the "pre-paid" gratuities (which I think is a misnomer) but want to make sure we are in line with what is expected and typically done by other Haven passengers.
Thanks

Once you experience it, you will wonder why Cruise ships didn't have them years ago.

Thanks! One of the most well written (and best formatted!) reviews I have read. We ar on The Escape in 3 weeks. We never heard of the Cat's Pajamas in the Supper Club. Can you tell us a little more about it? Thanks.

We are on the Escape next month and will be in The Haven. My wife and I are wine aficionados and have the UBP. What wines are available by the glass in the Haven? Any pictures of Haven drink menus? Thanks!!

I have read from several posts that what beach one chooses in St. Thomas depends on how many ships are in port that day. If there are a lot of ships, Coki beach may be too crowded. Is that true, and if so, is there an easy way to find out in advance how many ships will be in port a particular day? Thanks.
We are in St. Thomas 8 am to 6 pm Tuesday July 5, 2016.

Thanks for the quick response! How often did you have dinner in the Haven restaurant?

Does anyone know if they open the retractable roof over the Haven? If so, when, and how often on a typical cruise? We know they have their own sun deck, but thought it would be nice if they opened it up for those who wanted to hang around their pool area with the loungers.

Great review! Quick question, in the morning if you want coffee in a "to go" cup with a lid on the Escape are they available in places like the Main Dining Room or Taste/Savor. I assume you can always buy a cup at the Atrium but didn't want to buy coffee on a cruise where it should be included.

Does it matter what your "designated" boarding time is according to edocs?

Dominican Republic which port for NCL? Taino Bay or Amber Cove
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
We are on the Norwegian Breakaway next week and will be at Puerto Plata on Tuesday May 21, 2024. We have seen some reports that we will be at Amber Cove, not Taino Bay.
If that is the case, would it be worth getting a taxi to Taino Bay since its appears newer with more amenities, including a wave machine for surfing which our son wants to do?
