  1. awesome explanation of the blu. Very excited to be trying it out for the first time when we head to Alaska

I can only speak to the Summit. We sail on her every year, the same week, with our 4th consecutive year coming up.

The Matre'd announced that the MDR "standard" menu items are available every night in Blu. These are the items that are unchanged and on the left side of the menu in the MDR. The most popular order is the escargots and steak.

You do NOT have to eat in Blu every night. You may eat in the MDR. You do not have to make advance arrangements nor ask permission from the Blu matre'd. Nor do you have to tell anyone if you are going to specialty dining or the buffet. (contrary to what many people here will tell you)

The tables for larger parties are in the back of the room, or else they are all 2 tops. They are very close and it is not possible to discuss anything truly private. However, most really private discussions don't really happen in restaurants do they?

They do serve lobster, and if you want any dish with something left off or on the side....they will accommodate you as best they can.

  2. They did. But they served it with a bland white cream. I asked our server for drawn butter with a smile, and joked that I preferred to indulge that evening. It was no

Problem at all. We also enjoyed escargot from the mdr twice. The lobster was very good with the butter!

Thank you, just want I wanted to hear. Will be sure and ask for the butter 😻😻😻

  3. We are going to be in an aqua cabin on our cruise to Alaska in September😻😻😻 my question it says complimentary breakfast, does this mean if we eat dinner there do we have to pay🙀🙀any help would be appreciated. Thank you

  4. You can call your travel agent and they can make any of the changes you mentioned. If you booked your cruise with Celebrity, call them and they will help you out with that too. That way, it's all done before you board the ship [emoji2][emoji4][emoji41]! Have fun!!

Thank you Seadancer. I did as you suggested and the TA took care of it for me. One less thing to worry about.😺😻

  5. Thanks everyone for all the replies. Makes me even more eager for this cruise. I had looked on the web sight but you are correct that celebrity doesn't list everything. I do find their site harder to use than holland. Tried to figure how to add a special event and to have the beds divided but was unable to find out. Holland does make it quite simple as you do this when you register. Guess I will have to do it on board. Just hate for the room steward to have to redo the bed.😔

  6. Most of us love Aqua Class for Blu - it is what got us hooked on AQ years ago.

The ambiance in Blu is much quieter and less rushed than the MDR and food is delicious - see for yourself...

Wow that really looks amazing. Really makes excited about booking Aqua. Thank you for posting.

  7. we are going on a 32day Inca cruise. We will be in Mexico, Ecuador. Costa Rica, Peru, Gutamala and Nicaragua. My question is do they take US dollars or do we need to get some of their currency?

Thank you for any help you can give me

  8. Anxious to hear your report on Fanning Island. It is very primitive but was one of my favorite Island. The children were some of the most pleasant I have ever seen. Very pleasant and so willing to talk to you. Be sure to take some money with you the women there have made some beautiful baskets and other crafts. To me this was a most meaningful trip . Hope you enjoy it and glad you are taking school supplies they really need and appreciate it. If you get a chance the children also love the fresh fruit and I had taken some little toys for them, made me feel like Santa claus. The women and children also entertained us while we there.

Day 10 - First of two days in Honolulu

It has been hot in Hawaii this year. Many days in the '90's which is most unusual - and today was no exception in terms of the weather. It was very hot and very humid with temperatures in the nineties as opposed to the norm of 70's to mid 80's.

Last time we were in Honolulu on the Amsterdam (2008) we docked by the Aloha tower - today we were at Pier 2 - a bit of a hike from the Aloha Tower area. Last time we rented a car and drove to the North Shore - DH did some body surfing which did not go entirely well. So as not to embarrass him too much I will not repeat the story. Suffice it to say this year we are not renting a car here or driving to the North Shore. Maybe next trip.

Having port time in Honolulu, however, is kind of like having a reprieve from our packing errors. Don't tell anyone but DH packed for a 45 day trip to the South Pacific and took only one pair of shorts. So today we were in the big city and we had the opportunity to rectify his packing mistake. We went to the Ala Moana shopping mall. Anchored with Nordstrom's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's - why it was just like being at home in the Chicago area. Well, almost.

The mall is multilevel and there was nothing that we were able to detect in the signage to let us know at any time what level we were on. Even when we went up to the big mall maps there was no "you are here" sign. At least none that we were able to discern. Because of Hawaii's historically mild weather the mall is sort of indoor/outdoor so today it was very hot. Nevertheless our Mall IQ and our personal desire not to be pegged as tourists got us through the shopping experience. We even found the Walmart that is one block away and managed to purchase some supplies for the school on Fanning Island.

Shopping was followed by lunch in a wonderful Japanese restaurant, then back to the ship. It was important to get back before 3:00 or after 4:00 as the ship was having preventative maintenance to its stabilizers and electrical systems today and they needed to turn the ship in order to work on the stabilizers on both sides. Far be it from me to complain about any work needed to keep our stabilizers in good condition. The electrical work was fairly simple for the passengers as it only affected the elevators for five minute periods a few times during the day.

We made it back to the ship a little before 3:00 where we cooled off our wilted selves in the air conditioned comfort of the Amsterdam.

There was a Hawaiian luau BBQ this evening on the Lido deck - we passed. Even after dark our air here is still thick, humid and hot. Tonight's show was presented by a group from Maui and called the "Drums of Polynesia".

When we returned to our cabin after dinner we found the huge hanging monkey towel animal dangling from the air handler in the center of the cabin ceiling. Though it is an outstanding piece of towel art (this one even has a tongue that sticks out and is wearing a flower behind its ear) - it will still scare the c-----p out of me tonight after the lights are off. It will be moved shortly.

Tonight we sleep with the cabin drapes closed tightly. Our cabin faced the water this morning when we docked - now our starboard side cabin faces the pier. I wonder if I will sleep as well tonight without the motion of the ship.

  9. If it was required that you have a license, they would have told you so... I took a peek at that excursion (we'll be in Mazatlan on Crown Princess in a couple of weeks) and it doesn't mention anything about a license. So I'm sure you're good to go.
thanks for your help. That's what I thought but I wasn't sure. We are saling on the crown over Christmas withour family and can hardly wait.
  10. we are going on our first princes cruise and wanted to know if you have to have cash to play in the casino or do you just use your room key. Thanks for any help you can give me

  11. thanks every one for all the quick replies. Feeling much better about staying at the San Pedro best western. Chose it because it has king beds and sofa pullouts. There are 9 of us so needed the bigger rooms.

Getting so excited as time gets closer:):)

  12. I believe she's talking about the BW which is a DIVE!

We are staying at the best western San Pedro. Heard that it had been remodeled . Please tell me this is not a dive. If so I need to rethink our plans. :eek:Thanks for any help. Has any one stayed there recently? We need 3 rooms, 2 which need to have the cruise and park package. Thanks for any help. Sandy

  13. getting so excited as we are going on our first cruise with Princess on the crown for Christmas with our family. Have never been on a cruise where there are lots of kids but won't bother me since Christmas is a family affair. We will also be taking our family as we are celebrating our 50 th anniversary. What better way to go. Just looking for ideas of what to do at the ports in Mexico. Any help out there?

  14. is this what is available to full suite guest? I know we have use of the lotus thermal spa just not sure if this is it. Thanks for all the help.this is our first cruise with Princess so trying to learn all we can:)

  15. we are going to be on the crown for Christmas. Have thought about doing the UST but can't find any info on it do they do this on the crown and how much does it cost? Thanks for any help you can give me. Sandy

Ultimate Ship Tour- So worth the splurge at least once. We so enjoyed the galley and bridge but saw other interesting areas such as the print shop, photo lab, mooring area, engineering, princess theater, etc. "Presents" at the end were just a bonus.

Crab Shack - Very good and well worth the price. They served King crab legs not Snow and they were very slightly over cooked but still delicious, fried appetizer basket was yummy, clams were well cooked, husband says peel and eat shrimp were very good.

AI Beverage Package - For us personally it was well worth it and we are not "partiers" - we are young people who appreciate a good time but not ones to lay out by the pool and drink all day. Sea days are a given, almost anyone would get their moneys worth. Port days, if you are like me and enjoy a pre-dinner glass of wine at Vines, maybe 1-2 glasses of wine with dinner, a coffee with Baileys and then a few cocktails at the end of the night, then yes the package is for you.

Overall, amazing cruise, I took many pictures so let me know if there is something you specifically want to know or see a picture of!
