  1. totally understand that- will just want to minimize any delays that are unnecessary so I can get aboard ASAP!

I had the same issue with checking in. It is all about the internet browser you are using. For instance I use internet explorer and had to download firefox to use as a browser that works better with the RYC site. I ended up uploading pictures form my phone that had plain backgrounds. I used my guests pictures from facebook to do theirs.

Try using a different web browser like google chrome or firefox and should solve the issues. The customer service people are the worst so this is the best option.

  2. I have been on the phone with RYC all day and very frustrated. I’m have been really use to the amazing customer service at Celebrity cruises and being able to have the same person answer all my questions. With Royal it is a new non-English speaking person you have to deal with lately. After getting the second person who can’t speak English at all....my questions still linger.

I’m use to the check in and boarding process with Celebrity and just showing up anytime to get in line and check in. Apparently Royal Caribbean does it by check in time (from what I saw when printing my passes online) or you can try anytime before that she said but could be a longer wait.

I’m a suite class guest and I heard they even offer a breakfast buffet in port for Suit guests checking in. Can anyone lend insight as I’m trying to arrange the limo to the port and don’t want to wait around for hours if I don’t have to. My current plan is to leave my house at 7am and take the 2 hour journey to the port and with traffic and delays getting out of the house I would assume end up to the port around 10am.

I like being some of the first to board so should I just get there around 9-10am like usual and hangout and relax in the suite guest lounge or really focus on that noon check in appointment on my printed pass?

Also, any other advice or pointers for a first time Royal Cruiser? Im on the Harmony of the Seas October 6 here in a few weeks.

I would love any Advice....please help!

  3. I didn't get the 35% discount on the bev package, just the upgrade.

After we boarded, we were walking to Blu to check out the wine list to see if it was advantageous to upgrade or not. On the way down the passageway, one of the normal "hawks" asked if we wanted to upgrade, and offered us a price of $132, which included the gratuity.

I kept walking to Blu, met with the sommelier, checked out the wine list, then told her the person down the hall offered us a discount. She then went on the computer, worked her magic, and came up with a price of $129 and change, so both of us upgraded.

My wife really didn't need to upgrade because she doesn't drink a lot of top shelf drinks, but she wanted access to the martini bar drinks. She would have been far better off just paying the dollar or two difference for each drink for as little as she used the premium, but for the sake of not making an issue out of it at the beginning of what turned out to be a delightful cruise, I just went ahead and did it for her also. :D :D

Haha happy wife happy life is what they say :) how long is your sailing? I’m about to go on a 10 day sailing aboard reflection this Friday and I always upgrade to premium for martini bar drinks. However it’s only $11.80 USD a day more so at 10 days that’s only $118. You must be on a long sailing then? I don’t quite get how that price of $129 is a discount?

  4. Another observation worth mentioning, they've gotten rid of those large, clunky service carts that are out in the hallways. Instead, they have smaller service carts that can sit in the alcove while servicing a particular stateroom. Much, much better when walking thru the passageways.

I have to know how you got that 35% discount off the beverage package. I have friends coming whom I told I’d pay for their bev package and I want to upgrade my bev package to premium too.

Where aboard or whom did you speak to about negotiating that discount? I know on the first day before the ship sets sail they are always offering dinning packages and such at a discount. Literally your post earlier was an answer to my prayers haha :)

  5. The old saying goes if you build it they will come! If you get the package you might find yourself having the additional glass of wine with dinner and or martini after at the martini bar. It’s vacation don’t limit yourself if it won’t hurt your bank. Why worry every time you have to swipe your pass card and sign the bill. Not to mention the wait and time it takes for that. I highly recommend it. As the person above broke down the costs, you can easily spend $55 a day on water and coffee alone! Drinks add up too and then you can live a little and have a few more cocktails!

  6. I know they have a kids area upstairs and they have great staff and activities for kids. I’ve never seen many kids running around celeb ships due to the fact it’s more upscale and families usually go for the better priced options such as carnival or royal ect. It also depends on the time of year and sailing. Spring break time brings a lot of families. You will have to try it and gauge how you like to. As your child gets older probably best to go with Royal. They are celebrity owned and are quite good from what I hear. At 6 years old they will probably be happy just to be aboard with you but as they get older they will want more to do aboard I’m sure! I’m 26 and only sail celebrity during spring break for the same reason. I’m afraid there won’t be enough people 20-30s and the activities won’t match the demographic. I think you guys will have a great time though! It’s a classy line and the ship is gorgeous!

  7. It’s very upscale but I’ve seen people in there in shorts and flowered Hawaiian shirts haha! I would dress up for dinner there. Maybe book it for one of the chic (formal) nights and enjoy a dress up and fancy dinner night! Murano is hands down the best dinning venue aboard.

Otherwise dress to comfort and order that lobster table side!!!

Thanks. DW and I were just setting up outfits and the subject came up. Originally I thought it was silly but after 42 years of marriage I have come to appreciate her penchant for listing outfits by day and evening - even down to socks several of which, I just found out, are not acceptable and must be replaced. :')

She sounds like a keeper! Haha I’m 26 and I do the same! Have to plan the outfits :) like the person above said. Save the tacky cruise wear for the buffets and dress to impress every night especially at Murano! You guys will love it!

  8. Preferred dress for Murano? Similar to chic?

  9. Oh I forgot to Mention if you book Tuscan before it’s pitch black outside the view on the aft of the ship through the floor to ceiling windows is worth it! I’d say best view on the ship as far as dining goes!

  10. Hello everyone!

I had a quick question about beverage packages. I always get it as part of my promotion but I have a friend who joined our cruise last minute and we leave in a few days. Due to this the only rooms left were inside with no perks.

When you first get aboard the ship while docked do they offer discounts on beverage packages if you sign up then? I remember bartenders asking if we had it and wanted to sign up but of course we did. And I know they are always trying to sell you dining packages and other packages at reduced rates before sailing off.

I told my friend I’d pay for his package and if I can save a few bucks by getting a discount that would be great. I think I remember them having a bev package table by the buffet trying to sign people up.

Any help on this would be great!

  11. The interesting part was the place called destination gateway, they didnt really touch on it much and was just a white room with some computer screens. Is this more of a conference room or some interactive area? Looks like a waste of space to me so far haha! Otherwise the ship is looking amazing, not much of a reveal. I do not think most of us care about a conference room. Of course it can be set up anyway haha, these layouts were no different than any business space ive ever seen. Classroom, banquet, ect....Its all the same just different forms of tables.

  12. Here are my thoughts, I have re-watched the video today getting excited for my March cruise on Edge. And let me tell you I am in my mid 20's and I dont think this will appeal to the young crowd or the older crowds either. I think it is a very cool and unique concept. It will either fall flat on its face or be extremely popular! Here are a few points below, a couple of which that were motioned before.

    1. Have you seen Martini bar at night? It is insane and takes a while to get a drink. Nothing too unreasonable in my opinion, but I do not now how they are going to climb ladders in the chaos to clip fancy garnishes into a drink in a timely manner. Not to mention while bartenders and servers are flying in and out behind the bar.

    2. As mentioned before there are so many areas (outside of Eden) that have so many stairs and levels. I do not know how they are gonna accommodate those who need the accessibility. I fear this could be a HUGE issue for moving about smoothly and timely.

    3. The sinful wording is a strange take on this area. I am sure younger kids will be allowed with their parents. I cannot see this area getting too wild at anytime haha. I would be interested to see what kind of adult themed entertainment they have planned or ideas to make it more of a risque fun atmosphere if that makes sense.

Overall I think this will be a coll interesting area, but I believe they will be tweaking it and making changes rather quickly. I hope for some awesome live entertainment and music here in this area. I am really excited for the pool area on this ship, looks much better than the other Celeb ships! I wonder what the indoor pool will be like!

  13. Hello Everyone,

This is my first post in over a year I have been so busy with work and not cruising my usual three times a year. I was on Reflection per usual last March and now have decided to do something I swore not to. I have decided to ditch the Reflection for the Silhouette once this year as my friends have opted for Western Caribbean on March 6th.

I know they are very similar, but what differences are there between them? I know there is not a lawn club grill which makes me sad :( i could care less for glass blowing or arts and crafts activities.

Is the club still on this one or is it a conference center too?

Any detailed comparisons will be much appreciated. Also, how is the Fort Lauderdale Port versus the Miami? Is it much more crowded or complicated? I have been use to the Miami after all this time.

  14. Hi everyone, so Im pretty pissed I missed the 123 go all inclusive offer. I missed it by a day as i was busy traveling and couldnt book. I am booking Monday with my agent at celebrity and i am can receive a florida resident discount of $200 but i have to buy my beverage package additionally ($350/person). This is a first for my friends and I. I cruise 3 times a year on the Reflection and just got back In Nov as well and bev package is a must as we enjoy drinking and this is a spring break cruise. Do you think they will offer a last min bev package on this sailing or just discounted rate? I am booking an accessible Aqua Class cabin for $1349/person on deck 12 and its the same room I had last March on the same sailing which is cool.which I didnt think was too bad considering i paid $1200/person for our Concierge class cabin on the 10th deck this last Nov. Should i wait a bit longer or risk it? Or im not sure what to do!!

  15. Just got back from our second cruise this year on the Reflection and early into our trip we woke up early one morning and noticed we were dead stopped at sea. We looked off our balcony and saw that there were 12 cubans in a home made raft floating a drift yelling for help. The captain conducted a 2 hour rescue operation. We then powered full speed to Key West to rendezvous with the Coast Guard where they sent out to tenders to pick up the survivors. Word from the crew was that one had died. It was a very interesting cruise thats for sure. My friend and I got to spend some time with the Captain one evening discussing the events and even he said this is very rare. We took lots of pictures and videos of the events. You never know what could happen at sea! If these oceans could talk :)

  16. Hi it is the second night usually the one at sea and the second to last night as well. This is from my experience on the Reflection 7 day sailings. I just got back in March on the Reflection and go on her again in 2 weeks. 10 days or more have 3 formal nights. 5 days and less have one only!

  17. Yea this is not a good idea at all. I live in Fort Myers so its a quick drive over to miami but my friends who come with always book flights two days out from sail date because what if there are issues? The cruise ship will not wait for you. I even own a limo company and some customers were cruising over seas and they were suppose to fly out air france and air france went on strike suddenly and they had to rebook whatever they could get frantically and this was 2 weeks ago. Just call choice air or whoever booked this package and have the dates changed if you still can or just pray that everything goes off smooth. Whats your landing time like compared to sail time? If there is a big gap you should be safe even if there was a delay. In the future make sure to give yourself time. After all thats so rushed to fly and jump aboard. You minds well rest up that night and start fresh in the morning so you can enjoy that first day to the fullest!

  18. So long time cruiser on NCL , some Disney under out belts.

Long story short: friends want to cruise on their anniversary and the Silhouette meets the date and itinerary.

So we are used to the NCL and DISNEY suite perks.

Can anyone who has experience on NCL and Celebrity give me some advice...

SPA: looks like they call it the Persian Garden - so, if I go Aqua Class it is included - if I go Concierge, there would be a charge for the week? If so, what might that charge be?

BEVERAGE PACKAGE: this looks completely different from NCL - first all people in the room MUST take the package - that does not appear to be the case on Celebrity?

EMBARKATION/DISEMBARKATION: I get weirded out waiting in long lines, so spending $$ on a Cabin category that gets me out of a couple hour line is worth every penny - if we are looking at Concierge or Aqua - looks like we get priority lines on and off the ship? What about at ports?

DINING: we really are happy with the NCL dining flexibility - I cannot understand the process to get that kind of flexibility on a Celebrity ship - specifically the Sihouette?

I am sure there are other things that I need to consider - but I would really love some help on these!!!!:D

Hi glad to see you are considering Celebrity cause it blows every other cruise line out of the water!

SPA: The spa is the spa and its called Canyon Ranch Spa now. They just took over from the old company and i heard its so much better. There is a section called the Persian Garden which is around $125 for a 7 night cruise but it will go up or down depending on the days. If you book aqua its free but you can save money and get a concierge room and just get the pass separately. And of course you can get your massages and facials and what not at the spa. The Persian Garden is amazing though and i recommend it. I do it everyday before dinner to recover and sweat out the toxins from the night before and the current day haha. It has tiled heated loungers looking out into the ocean through a glass wall. Then there are several rooms like a cold room, turkish bath, and aroma therapy and of course a sauna.

Beverage package: You can pick your perk with select cruise and choose one of the 3, Money off your room, Free Beverage Package, Free Gratuities, or onboard credit up to $300. So no you dont have to take the bev package but you can also take the non alcoholic one if you dont drink which covers water, tea, waters, smoothies and what not.

Embarking: I always pay extra for suite or concierge or above if the suites are booked out. Im always one of the first few to board and like the private lines it saves so much time and headache in my opinion and i like being first on board so i can get my champagne at the door and book some dinning and stuff before everyone else and not wait in line and also get the tours and stuff without waiting around. I suggest you go big or go home you pay for what you get and ill beat the lines any day! At ports they have separate lines for you as well to board and sometimes not but im usually in no hurry to re board.

Dinning: You can do open seating dinning which means you can eat at anytime you want throughout the time on board. This just means you might have to wait to be seated some times which is never too long and you can grab a drink while you wait of course :) And you will not get the same wait staff usually when you do open seating but you can for sure get the flexibility you like. Or you can do the specialty dinning restaurants for extra money and then make reservations at whatever time you like for quick seating.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have other questions!

  19. I am also sailing on the Reflection in Nov on the 8th-15th with my friend. We went this last March as well and had to book a second trip on her this year that is how amazing it is! Lets just say you will never go back. Unless you have kids that might make a difference there. However I think Celebrity is the best and most luxurious line out there. Sure it may be more expensive than most but you pay for what you get and cant be the first class service and quality. I cant wait to be back on her here in Nov!

  20. Hi, so at the sounds of it you guys may break even or come out ahead. The classic package comes out to $56 dollars a day including gratuity. So you have to think the average beers are $5-6 dollars, cocktails $6-$8, wine $6-$8, then your coffee, teas, soda, and bottles of water. So if you both each have a beer, cocktail, and glass of wine you will already be at $34 dollars lets say and then normally tip on that of standard 20% (its what i tip anyways) you are at $40 dollars. Then lets say you have some coffee, bottles of water, and soda you will either equal out or break even. You might find you want a couple more drinks when they are free. Dont be the embarrassing people who bring a suitcase full of water hahah (shaking my head) it amazes me how people think they are saving so much money this way its more of a hassle. I would just go with the classic package its free after all and tip included will save you sooooo much money itself.

  21. Thanks for your attempts to help, happicruzer and rucruisn2, but it still isn't working.

Attempting to view my reservation online just sends me in a vicious circle back again to the login page, where it again asks for my booking number, last name, and so forth.

Scrolling down to the bottom of my check-in page shows information ABOUT luggage tags but offers no link or other way to actually get any!

After hearing so many good things about Celebrity, I really want to love it. But our experience since booking in March has just been one frustrating and bewildering glitch after another, both technical/computer related and human. Never experienced anything like this in eight previous cruises on other lines.

Guess I'll just have to be glad the site has not deleted our reservation--yet! We're still expecting to have a wonderful cruise...if we're ever able to board!

My celeb rep sends the good quality ones to me in the mail and i get as many as i request per person. YOu can print them out too but the computer paper isnt that strong and that could result in lost luggage. Call celebrity and request them even if you booked through a TA they will send them out :)

  22. Hi all.

i have never sailed with celebrity before, im more of a p&o person but getting bored so were branching out. an any one tell me about the agae group im to expect as im 33 and hubby is 39 wee young at heart ;)also in comparison to p&o which is better

    louise

You definitely need to check out the March Caribbean cruises. My friends and I are mid to late 20s and we always do the spring break cruises. It brings out the 20 somethings and those on their 30s as well. And the rest of the guests are young at heart as you say because they know what to expect. Once we even had Purdue and Duke book out a few floors and that was an INSANE time but in a good way. My friends and I are going on another Caribbean cruise in 2 months (our second this year on the Reflection) and I am interested to see what the vibe and guest ages will be like. If you can always bring a couple people with you that helps and kinda gives you a guarantee of people your age that share your interests. However we mingle and party with everyone and never has been a disappointment! Transatlantic and cruises past 7 nights seem to attract an older and relaxed crowd as it is pricey and they can tend to afford it more and dont have things like school or even work sometimes lol.
