Thanks so much for these updates! We leave this Thursday and our sailing is Saturday, 10/22, from Nuremberg to Amsterdam on the Emerald Sky. Any ideas regarding how Emerald handles this?

Sailing 10/22 from Nuremberg to Amsterdam, hoping water levels go up! I don't know what level is considered too low (not a mariner by any stretch of the imagination!). Thoughts?

getting ready for our cruise tomorrow. But alas, we were part of the Emerald Belle fire cancellations...waiting for October!

Jus got off Emerald Sun today. Our ship was clean and sparkled. Just like you guys our staff was amazing! Can't wait to hear more about your trip.

 

Our trip was from Budapest to Nuremberg.

Thanks! No I'm not sure, but I know they were mentioned when we first booked (by our travel agent) but I assumed we'd be able to access more information later when we had had a chance to look more at our route, and I didn't take her up on it then. We booked at the end of February and we sail May 12th, so that was more than two months ahead that they were available.

Now I'm wondering when should we have info on optional tours? Do we need to contact Emerald?

No, we haven't received info on optional cruises, but we have extended an overnight on each end.

We'll be doing the Rhine-Main in October. We were supposed to be going in June, but due to the fire on the Belle, Emerald was able to get us on the October cruise.

Thoughts that you continue to mend! Thanks for the update on the river. No idea what to expect end of October.

We did not get free airfare, but a promo of $495 rt with Emerald for this year. We were booked on the Emerald Belle, which caught fire and had all it's cruises for 2016 cancelled. We normally book our own airfare, but this was a great deal and not restrictive at all in choices. I was very happy that Emerald booked our airfare, because of the cancellation we did not have to worry about change fees, dealing with trip insurance, etc.

We too were on the 6/26 cruise. Due to my work schedule we could not do the earlier cruise that was offered to us. Emerald transferred all our details, etc. to the same cruise 10/22. I will say, when this happened I was very happy that we had booked our airfare through an Emerald promotion. Dealing with travel insurance, etc. would not have been fun. This way they have to re-book everything!!

They offered us June 16, but I can't take time then. Looks like we're on the Oct 22nd cruise.

Thanks! We're going the end of June. We are doing Nuremberg to Amsterdam. I've been to London in that same time period, at the very least it may be a bit cooler. But I'm a layered clothing kind of person, so I figure that's the way to go. I also always pack dry cleaner hangers and just leave them when our trip is complete.

Excellent! Nothing worse than having to lug "formal" clothes! Actually the last ocean cruise we did had freestyle dining, which I found was more casual.

Very excited to be going on our first river cruise. Although it's not until June 2016, I wanted to ask for those that have both river cruised and ocean cruised, do you pack differently? As an example, for ocean cruising, I have my "cruise stuff" over the door organizer, clips to hold curtains together (very light sleeper, can't deal with light ;-), etc. I should mention we are going on Emerald, I think the Belle.

Thought I would update you all on what took place on the Dawn. Downpours right before sailing. We left about 90 min late. Lots of rolling Friday night. Barf bags placed around ship Friday night and Saturday morning. Capt's announcement at 10am, we had circled all night. We were only 36 miles from Nantucket. Delayed getting into Bermuda until 7pm vs. 7am Sunday. NCL pushed our Bermuda departure to Wed 4am instead of Tues 5:30pm.

Sat from mid-day on, sunny skies, calmer seas, only kept getting better.:):):)

Thank you, do you recall what type of filters it might use? Mr. Coffee?

I've researched and found conflicting info. I hope to bring coffee and filters, but I can't get definitive info. Is there a coffeemaker? How many cups does it make? What type of filters does it use?

Construction at this point is minimal. We were just there a couple weeks ago and had no issues. Great parking lot just a block away, however, we usually find on street parking.
