Apparently it is almost always cancelled. Not sure why they keep it on the itinerary.
4 hours ago, boblerm said:Our second port of call was San Juan, our excursion was the San Juan City Tour. Before boarding the bus, the tour guide had a warning for me. He noticed that I was I was wearing my NY Jets hat, and wanted me to brace myself for what I would see when I boarded the bus
We started by driving around Old San Juan, a nice area to tour.
Statue of St. John the Baptist, for whom the city is named
Monument to the Police
Plaza in Honor of Puerto Rican Teachers
Holocaust Memorial
Our first stop was at the Walkway of the Presidents, where there are statues of 9 US Presidents that have visited Puerto Rico
Let's play...Name That President!

Bonus question 10- What US President who has visited Puerto Rico does not have a statue here?
All of those that get all 10 correct will win unlimited free laundry on their next Regent cruise!
Our next stop was at the San Cristobal fort. A very nice site to explore with great views. We had an hour to explore here, I think that everyone on our tour agreed that a half hour would have been sufficient.
We then drove around Old San Juan a bit more, passing the El Morro fort
We then drove through New San Juan. Frankly, this is not an area that I think is optimum to see through the window of a tour bus. We had one stop here at a strip of beach for 15 minutes.
Why am I spending 15 minutes here???
I enjoyed the tour, but if I was choosing over, I would have selected a San Juan walking tour. This area is very amenable for walking, and I think that would have been a better use of our time here.

Thanks for all you doing with this, as it is appreciated by all. I tried, without success, to have someone on the Splendor previous to our Feb 3 sailing give us some idea of the current situation on the ship as most of us shared the same apprehension with the first time sailing again.
We sailed together in 2018 on the Voyager in Venice and inaugurated the Regent Pool Grill Concept, you posted a ton of pictures, and we had free laundry.
Enjoy your last few days.

Macbest- no need to wait another day for a double lounge in the shade. One just came open next to us near the smoking lounge.
Thanks for your posts.

sassyw - We join you in a few days and it would be great hear about your first week.

Perfect. Thanks.

Are small bottles of water readily available again or only at excursion departure stations?
-
Do you know where John is going? I thought he went through quarantine when he joined Splendor not too long ago?
-
Look forward to hearing about life on the Splendor with the January 24 departure date. We leave on the next one on Feb 3.
I understand there are about 400+ guests. Please let us know if John Barron is the cruise director.
Thank you.

Thank you.
I was hoping to get an updates for us since the last post on Monday.

Hi:
It would be great to get an update of how things are going since we are finally returning to Regent cruising on Feb 3.
Specific interests are number of passengers, mask policy being adhered to, status of scheduled planned ports, masks being worn on excursions, COVID cases, and anything else you want to share.
Thanks so much.

Crew is not allowed to get off ship. Currently
Thanks again for all your posts and especially the crew information at the ports.
Hope it was a safe trip home.

Thanks Rachel for preparing us to resume Regent sailing on Feb 3.
A crew question - were they allowed to get off at the different ports?
Thank you.

We renewed by online application in early August, paid the fee by CC, and received both of our cards in two weeks.
I'm sorry to hear so many are going through so much aggravation to get it done.

The value of the Business Class RT Air to Europe is much greater than the $2,500 credit that you used in your calculations.

They filmed part of it in late May from Barcelona to London. They were everywhere and a great group.
If interviewed you signed a release. Look forward to seeing it in the U.S.

I understand that the booth seating in Prime 7 will be corrected because of the number of complaints that it is too low.

We also were on the Voyager in June when it was initiated and managed by Risky. We took advantage of it on at least two occasions including sail aways (Venice was Great), and the grill options were very good. One of the chefs, Pascual, was overseeing the food prep.
I did change out of jeans for the shows.
It was explained that one of the main purposes was to take the pressure off Compass Rose, which certainly made sense.
We enjoyed it.

We were on a Med 21 day B2B in June in 780. There was an occasional vibration in the bathroom. That was it.
You should be fine. Also, it was great to have the same cabin for both.

We departed Vancouver 10 days ago on an 11:00 flight with Regent transportation. We were the first group off at 8:15 and arrived the airport in more than enough time.

Regent must have new information. Their recommendation states "Yellow Fever Inoculation and Malaria Prophylaxis are strongly recommended for guests visiting Colombia and Guatemala."
-
We are leaving on the Navigator in a couple of weeks and haven't made a decision about the shot and pills for Colombia and Guatemala. I would appreciate your thoughts because it seems that everyone who has been on a similar cruise did not get them for the half day excursions?

Currently on Voyager. Capt Daniel Green and CD Andy Heath just came on a week go. Both are excllent.

I prefer to book air separately and am looking for reliable transportation options from Heathrow directly to Southampton this Summer. I would appreciate hearing about any good experiences. Thank you. Jim
It's all good on board the Splendor!

Thanks for the San Juan update. There are very few options for our December Splendor cruise with a similar itinerary. They heard you because I don't even see the infamous beach stop.
We've been there before so a walk to Old San Juan sounds like what we'll be doing.
