    Sorry this happened to you.

If it makes you feel any better, we had a B2B a couple of years ago and could not work out to be in the same AQ stateroom for both cruises.  Our old and new staterooms were on opposite hallways.  One midship, and the other forward.  On the morning of the switch, our steward came to get our hangings clothes.  He also had us take the drawer clothes out and stacked them in a bin.  All we had to pack up was our toiletries in the bathroom.  I basically threw everything in my roll-on.  Once in the new stateroom, I knew exactly where to put everything.

The switch from stateroom to stateroom took less than 15 minutes out of our day.  The worse part of the B2B change over was having to attend the meeting for B2B's and going off ship only to check back in and get new cards. 😃

Unfortunately this is not always the case. We had to move staterooms on the Silhouette on Sunday. We were ready to move at 8AM as instructed. We were told to pack everything except hanging cloths (no bins). The occupants of the stateroom we were moving to did not vacate on time. We had to leave the ship for customs and when we returned we found our new stateroom was open, we finally picked up our clothes and moved. In these situations the problem is your valuables and meds. We locked them in the safe. It was quite stressful for a time. The stateroom attendants are very busy, hard to find and often the person cleaning the rooms is not the attendant as in our case. We spoke to another couple experiencing the same problems.

  3. What do you mean I wouldn't have the time? If I won the lottery I would sail in a Penthouse Suite. It would only take me 112 days of sailing to reach Zenith.

We have about 1800 points but will never reach Zenith.

It is freeing actually since we now are more apt to cruise on other cruise lines as we are no longer in search of the big Z.

  4. I have also been trying to get on the Cruise Planner on my iPad and each time was unsuccessful. So I tried it on DHs HP and had no problem. [emoji51]

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I am unable to mange my reervation with my iPad. It throws me right back to the front page of the website.

Trying to purchase shore excursions and can not access anything.

It also locked me out with an error message.

  5. They were invaluable to me when booking air for a TA. Booking on my own would have cost several times the fare I obtained from Choice Air. Otherwise, I haven’t personally seen an advantage to booking through them.

I called Choise Air and Celebrity and no one knew what I was asking about. Choice Air said I needed a promo code from Celebrity so I called Celebrity. After waiting over 20 minutes twice a nice gal tried to help me but she was unaware of the promotion. She finally got me through to Celebrity Captain's Club. I had tried the CC numbers but was always transferred to the general number. CC after a considerable wait came back and said if we booked it would show up after our sailing when our points are added.

This was clearly a works in progress at Celebrity.

I saw a posting on Facebook and hit the ' book now' tab which took you to nowhere on the Celebrity website.

Not sure why Celebrity advertises these promotions without

company wide notifications? I was frustrated but soon realized the Celebrity folks were in the dark. Oh well....

  6. Karynanne - thanks for the info but so unfortunate. After 33 cruises with Celebrity, she was the only CC Hostess we liked & knew well. Last year after 3 cruises, we couldn't even tell you one of the other hostesses' names. On a cruise on the Eclipse, they had the Elite Happy Hour every day but not once was the Hostess there. She sent surrogates & after 2 weeks we got off the ship & never met her.

We recently had a similar experience on the Equinox. The CC Hostess was leaving the ship after the cruise so we thought perhaps this was the reason she was mostly uninvolved.

Clearly the CC Hostess role has changed.

  7. We have often warned (on the Cruise Insurance blog) to be very careful when considering what insurance (if any) to purchase. Most cruise line policies focus on cancellation options (which are a very limited liablity) while providing a low level of medical coverage. The Celebrity policy is quite typical in only offering $10,000 of medical coverage. For those on Medicare (which does (with a couple of very rare exceptions) give coverage outside the USA....$10,000 is woefully inadequate.

We ourselves travel outside the USA on both cruises and long land trips...and purchase travel medical insurance with $250,000 coverage which covers all the trips we take for an entire year up to 70 days per trip. This policy is relatively inexpensive (less then $450 a year for coverage for both DW and moi) but is strictly medical and does not include any cancellation insurance. We have long been willing to accept the limited risk of cancellation....but would never consider running the unlimited liability risk of Medical. Consider that the most you can lose without trip cancellation is the cost you paid for the trip. But a major medical emergency could end up costing over $100,000.

    Hank

For the travel medical insurance if I may ask?

    Thank you

  8. Hi Orv,

At first glance, I have a million thoughts going through my head. However, I think the bottom line is, will the ads be effective, be enjoyable, and drive sales. Until I have the opportunity to view the TV spot, I'm going to reserve judgement.

One thing I find very appealing, is that Celebrity will be using real officers and crew in the ads. For years, I've been saying that's one of Celebrity's strongest selling points, and I'm glad someone else has noticed this - or, they've read what I've been saying on here :)

What ever happened to the butlers with the picnic baskets?

  9. If they took the money they are spending on this Advocate program and some of their marketing ideas like "the Grass is Greener" and spent it on the food and service, especially the food in the buffet at lunch time, they would not need to pay people to Advocate for them.

Just received an email from Celebrity asking us to book our excursions in advance for an upcoming Panama Canal cruise. I clicked and guess what:

    Received this message

    "Well, this is unfortunate.

Here you are trying to plan a vacation and our website decides to take one."

No way to run a railroad as Grandpa used to say!

  10. I don't watch the show but I do know of it. It looks to me like a new marketing strategy. When it was announced, it looks like a new perk or specialized cruise. To me, the announcement was a little misleading.

The roaming butlers with picnic baskets!

  11. If they realise that people have cottoned on to the lack of value in some options they could make the basic option less attractive and start looking at other cruise lines for inspiration on how to push the better and best options....

Big could = no cabin selection - guarantee only - no dining time selection

Better and best options could include things like free port transfers, cabin choice, choice of dining times.

    From NCL

They are including inside cabins in their offers with choice of one perk

  12. If the maximum reimbursement from Celebrity is $300 per lost bag, it's no wonder that they make no effort to ensure that ALL luggage is reunited with its owner....there is no monetary incentive. It is probably less costly for them to just pay the $300 for a lost bag than to put more expensive methods in place that would ensure safe delivery of all luggage. Since most luggage is not lost, a few $300 payments per cruise may be worth it.....to Celebrity......certainly not the luggage owner!

Last fall a piece of our luggage was taken by another Celebrity passenger from the terminal, checked as theirs through the airport in Ft Lauderdale, and flown to Dallas. Only then did they realize it was not their luggage. They left it with lost luggage at the Dallas airport? We were contacted by Southwest since our tags were all over it. We had filed a report with Celebrity at the port when we could not locate the luggage after a long wait and looking through an amazing amount of luggage.

We called Celebrity after we received the call from Southwest and we cannot say enough good about the way they handled the situation. After a period of time we received our luggage. The Celebrity employees at the port and in lost luggage were professional and helpful. Given security and safety regulations this was not an easy fix for anyone involved including us.

The passenger taking our luggage was of course then looking for the piece of luggage they left at the port. They said the mix up was a "porter fault!"

Interestingly the pieces of luggage were very different:a large black case vs our smaller grey case and ours had tags and belts and colorful ties, etc.

This was a stressful experience and we sympathize with anyone facing it.

We were fortunate in the end that our luggage was found and returned.

    Thank you.

  13. Hi. This is no more than an observation. I have been on a good number of previous Celebrity cruises which I have enjoyed. I booked a Western Caribbean cruise on Equinox departing Fort Lauderdale on 5th April 2015 way back last year. A week prior to departure I unfortunately picked up a viral infection which after doctors advice left me no alternative but to cancel the cruise together with a weeks stay post cruise in Miami. Nothing was refundable either from Celebrity ( except pre-paid gratuities + taxes ) the airline or hotel. I have an insurance claim in course at present and should at some time see the return of the bulk of monies spent. Celebrity were informed immediately regarding the position. I thought that I would have at least received an acknowledgement from Celebrity with maybe a modest incentive to re-book a future cruise at a kean price which I probably would have taken up. As I say no more than an observation but I would have thought Celebrity Customer Relations could have been more pro-active.

We had to cancel back to back cruises in South America last Spring a few days prior to our flight to Argentina. We did not expect or receive anything from Celebrity other than the help they offered us with our refunds on gratuities and excursions and filing for our insurances. Since it was two separate cruises it was two separate filings. The people at Celebrity were most helpful on all accounts.

However this is a vacation but it is also a business transaction between two parties. They held up their end of the bargain very nicely and they were kind, patient and efficient. That is all one can expect.

    Thank you.

  14. Another perspective is that perhaps Perry wanted more $$$(it's always about $), Celebrity wouldn't pay, so he took his piano & went to the competition.

As history records it is not always about money!

We have seen Perry a few times and enjoy his show and talent.

Clearly not regulars but let's not suggest we know the reasons for his decision.

    We wish him well!

  15. Hopefully, this will be a thread of experiences on board with the reduced seating in Select Dining after the area for Luminae (suite dining) was carved out.

Initial posts from the Reflection would indicate select dining seating is now a disaster...but that might be only one person's experience. I'd like to know what folks are experiencing on each of the ships.

While I know it won't help....please try to keep "oh that's terrible" or "that's great news" or "if that happens to me, I'll do xxxx" to some other thread. Let's just accumulate actual experiences in this thread.

We were in Select on Equinox

Our wait times were acceptable, food and service excellent but it seemed very crowded, noisy and dark and on formal night it was more so.

The tables were very close together. They had an amazing number of waiters and wait staff so the service was excellent but quite impersonal. They have no time or space for chit chat which we would not expect. The staff at the front desk at Select was very efficient and pleasant and we did go sit in the pub a couple of night with the beeper but the wait was not long.

We have no real complaints but if you are looking for a fine dining experience this is not the place. The main dining room below had empty chairs and tables at second seating. We are thiniking that second seating might be better for us.

    Thanks.

  16. I agree also, don't think Select dining means no dress up.

    Formal night in Select Dining:

    Examples (gentlemen)

Tux, jacket and tie, long sleeved shirt and tie no jacket,

shirt only with no tie or jacket, jacket and shirt no tie

You name it we saw it

We felt Select Dining was noisy, crowded and room was dark

Food and service excellent and the wait time was not bad

    Elite gathering in Sky Lounge:

We saw gentlemen in shorts and tee shirts

We decided it was a younger crowd and we were in the Caribbean?

  17. How about high ranking crew not bothering to shave? That was a surprise for me!

Also, I was taken aback that they allowed men wearing Yankee shirts and baseball caps in to the Captain's Club Celebration. Must be "Modern Luxury". Of all team shirts, the YANKEES! Then came the Harley- Davidson tees...

I probably agree with the dress code comments but our daughter and husband are celebrating their 15th anniversary and their first Celebrity cruise this week on the Silhouette and I can guarantee they would be amused at the fuss over this. We are so hoping they enjoy Celebrity as we do but clearly this may be a generational issue. Our kids are in Aqua and will not be dressing as we do for formal night. Oh well...
