  1. I AM DIAMOND ON CARNIVAL AND HAVE OVER 32 CRUISES. I HAVE TWO ELITE CRUISES I WILL BE GOING ON IN AUGUST AND DECEMBER. I SENT SEVERAL REQUESTS TO THE CASINO DEPT TO ASK WHY I HAVE NOT GOTTEN FUN PLAY WHEN MY STOCK HOLDER BENEFIT HAS BEEN DENIED. I DID NOT EVEN GET THE RESPECT OF A REPLY. ELITE IS NOT GIVING MUCH OVER THE BENEFITS I ALREADY GET. PARKING AND A NOT SO HOT EXCURSION ARE THE THE ONLY BENEFITS ABOVE WHAT i ALREADY HAVE. i AM A SLOT SLUT  IN THE CASINO AS MY BROTHER WOULD CALL IT AS i SPEND ALOT OF TIME THERE.WHY CANT i GET A RESPONSE? iI HAVE SPENT FAR MORE THAN I WOULD LIKE TO ADMIT

  2. I have almost 50 cruises between Carnival and Princess. I have traveled with family , friends and relatives. It always comes with difficulties. It all starts out good but as the cruise progresses it can get more difficult. There always are disagreements on eating times, excursions, what shows to see, sharing of space in the cabin etc. . I love doing my own thing in my own time in my own space. After so many cruises , probably 10 solos, I have found it a good way to go. People are friendly , happy to be away, and always willing to talk. Try it once and see what you think.

  3. If you really want to see what a "cruise from hell" is like, head over to the Royal Caribbean board and read the threads about the Anthem of the Seas, then tell me which cruise you'd prefer.

My husband and I owned a 50 ft sailboat for about 15 years . Our children were trained in emergency procedures. My husband was an instructor for the Coast Guard Aux for over 15 years. In our cruising history we experienced many hair raising experiences in our cruising escapades down the East Coast and the Caribbean. Now You tell me the difference between experiencing the same conditions in a 50 ft boat. FYI there is a BIG difference between a 50 ft boat and a Cruise Ship. There is a saying that Sailing is fear between episodes of sheer terrier. We survived Hurricane Bob and several others

  4. While it sounds as though the Coral had many problems post-drydock, I am curious as to the problems you encountered on the Emerald in January. We were on a B2B2B on the Emerald, January 4-23 and had a wonderful, problem-free cruise. We enjoyed every minute, and I'd be hard pressed to find anything about which to complain. JMHO.

I was on January 14 to January 23. Varnish flaking on the balcony railing , floor of balcony had white Stuff all over it as well as seagull poop, area around balcony very dirty with black soot, fire in the incinerator alarm were off 11pm not over until several hours later and previous passenger had used the shower curtain as a handkerchief. I had paid an upcharge for the balcony and was recovering from eye surgery that was done two days before the trip. My expectations were for clean quiet peaceful nothing fancy . Never expected boogers in the bathroom

  5. Just returned from Coral Princess . 6 day W Carrib. It was so bad we were given $100 OBC per person Half of the cost of the cruise back , excursion credits back so on and so forth. The six day cruise turned into 5 sea days due to Tech problems. No hot water , toilets no flushing no MUTS, Internet problems, Skipped ports , multiple tech problems. Bearings on starboard side shot. We were informed that the trip from Bermuda after dry dock was almost double. We left Everglades knowing there was a problem. This was my third cruise this month with Princess all this month had problems. The other two were B2B. January 14 -Jan23 on the Emerald. I will rethink my three future cruises with Princess. Three in a row more than coincidence ? I have a total of 27 cruises 12 with Princess Just saying..........

  6. I just got an email re a flight change from Princess I thought it was the usual 5 or 10 minute time difference. They actually booked my husband and I on separate flights to LAX. I would be flying Tampa to Miami with a layover than on to Lax. My husband would be flying Tampa to LAX direct. I called American Airlines to find out what happened. The merger has resulted in many route and flight changes. Our original flights had both been cancelled . Princess has not been updated on all the changes. American has been working behind in notifying cruise lines as well as others. They suggest you call Princess to verify any changes made with your flights. I have a call into my planner as airport transfers would also have to be changed. Be sure to mention you have a flexible fare the initial response was there would be a $200.00 per person charge to change a flight

Just as an update I just got a call from Princess. My PVP had left the building. A new person was assigned. I thought OH NO ! However he did a great job and now we are on the same flight. FYI even if a side note is put down such as call the airline if you have a question DONT DO IT Go back to Princess and let them fix it.

  8. This was my 20th cruise. I don't usually comment but I felt the Emerald has been getting a bad rap lately. I did not have any the issues that were reported in the most recent posts. Crown Grill could not have been better. The service was good the food was very good. I also ate at the Crab Pot. it was OK. the food on the buffet was hot and tasty. The crew had a good attitude . The ship was clean and I had no problem with my staterooms or stews . This cruise was over Halloween and was a lot of fun. I will be sailing on the Emerald again in January after the dry ? wet ? dock. I will get back with an update although I do hate to write. The casino was VERY Tight. I have 0 complaints. I was not sure I made the right decision by booking the Emerald after some of the recent reviews it was a good cruise. I have no prior expectations and go with the flow.

  9. "One week pre-cruise: what are your traditions?"

In our case, get cloths, shoes, coats (if needed) and other accessories (clothing items, etc.), cameras, laptop, and stuff needed for our electronics all gathered in some place that we will be sure to pack them. Why not grab some suitcases and load them up in advance? One word, cats. They get pretty upset when those suitcases show up. I would guess that anyone with four legged furry creatures (cats, dogs, whatever) as part of their household know the way this works.

I had a cat that would bury herself under clothes in my suitcase when I started packing. She almost made it to St Thomas once

  10. This afternoon I read a post on another site that said there are far to many cruisers that have achieved Plat and Elite status by taking very short cruises. The poster stated the info was given to him by a senior officer. The level of Elite will only be able to be reached by number of days cruised not number of cruises. There was no mention of those already at Elite getting anything different. I remember Carnival doing this a few years ago. Cruisers were given a year to complete the level they were hoping to achieve. Many cruisers missed out because they were not aware of the change. What do you think ? Fact or Fiction. Anybody else hear or actually know anything ?

  11. So you are saying there is no limit to the number of FTTF tickets available now? I haven't been on Carnival in awhile, and the last time was in a suite, so we got priority boarding anyway. Since FTTF is designed for Carnival-specific needs, I don't think Princess will copy it.

Check out Carnival Forum multiple problems multiple sites. I am a convert to Princess

  12. I also recall reading that Carnival limits (40-50?) the numbers & Princess may have more preferred boarding passengers...on my Royal cruise nearly 2/3 of the passengers had preferred boarding.

Those numbers no longer hold. The problem is they allow Dia/Plat and FTTF to board all at the same time. It is decided by the number of VIFP passengers on that cruise. If there are only 100 VIFP passengers it will allow several hundred non VIFP to board at the same time. I was on a Carnival cruise in July and had the experience of being run over by many many FTTF passengers it is becoming more of the rule rather than exception. I am Plat with Carnival and this was my last cruise with them . I plan to be Elite with Princess by the end of 2016. I hope they don't follow suite.

  13. I went to the website about an hour ago . There is an area that is labeled Contact us. I used the phone number listed there for Carnival . I got to speak with a real person. She took all my info and sent an email to Michael. I got an email back stating that the offer I got on my last premier cruise cannot be used for my upcoming premier cruise on November 08. I was told to keep the letter and call before the next cruise I book without casino comps it may apply then.

  14. I just got off the Breeze on Sunday. A number of premier players I was with got the free cruise offers in their mailboxes. I was told you had to score 5000 - 6000 points. I had exceeded that number. I questioned the casino host about this. he said I was not on the list to call the number connected with premier cruises when I got home. I was told because I was booked on a second premier cruise the offer did not apply. The benefits I received were greater than the value of a free cruise. I would receive a drinks on us card. That would only be good while playing in the casino. That is also a part of the premier benefit. I was told that because I was booked on a second premier cruise I would not get it because people who were already booked sometimes cancel their booked cruise to take advantage of the free offer. I called the players club and was told to suck up to the casino host that the number of points had to be earned by a certain point in the cruise. Anybody else run into this ?
