Was it just a signed letter from your GP? Also going from Vancouver (inside passage) and curious what would be required if went this route.

Yes, a signed letter from my GP, we breezed right through 😃

    • Thanks 1
  2. Yes they do, I showed my positive test and a letter of recovery from my Dr. You must be with in a 90 day window of your positive test tho. But you can’t use the VeriFLY app. Checkin process was only about 30 mins from start to in our stateroom.

I am not so sure about that.  A few interior lights can still function.  But, other outlets?  I would like to learn what others have experienced with this situation.

Considering I just got off the ship this morning after two weeks, it’s pretty accurate…

    Some thoughts:

So, ZPM is likely gone, too?

As for OBC, HAL has been offering some with proms lately.  Hmm.

I noticed a big box Canadian company that used to give OBC on a sliding scale in respect to how much you spent on the cruise.  Now, I notice that the credit amount (as a gift card) is for spending in their stores, not on HAL.

This new formula for the FCC "punishes" pax for booking higher categories.  Everyone is now equal.  How good is that? 🙂

I am so disappointed in this too!!

  6. Fresh Fruit and Produce from Nieuw Amsterdam Donated to Feeding South Florida

With Nieuw Amsterdam’s recently canceled cruise that was to depart from Fort Lauderdale, Holland America Line donated as much of the fresh fruit and produce on board to Feeding South Florida so it wouldn’t go to waste. Feeding South Florida is the largest food bank serving Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties, distributing more than 50 million pounds (42 million meals) of food annually to over 700,000 individuals – 240,190 of whom are children and 110,000 are older adults.

The ship donated 11 pallets of fruits and vegetables, and one of our vendor partners — Freedom Fresh — picked up the food from the ship and delivered it to Feeding South Florida. The ship’s Food and Beverage Director Ron van Vliet and Executive Chef Sinu Pillai, along with Holland America Line’s Vice President of Hotel and Food & Beverage Frits Van der Werff, selected all of the produce and got it all loaded onto the truck for delivery.

Feeding South Florida received a wide selection of inventory that had just been loaded for the cruise and would have gone unused. The organization accepted an abundance of vegetables including zucchini, tomatoes, lettuce, bell peppers, mushrooms, squash, kale, carrots, eggplant, cucumber and more! Fruits included starfruit, mango, dragon fruit, grapes, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, kiwis, strawberries and avocado. Fresh herbs and spices also were delivered, including sage, tarragon, dill, thyme, rosemary and basil.

While we never want to disappoint our guests and impact their vacation plans in this way, we’re happy that all of this food will go to such a worthy organization and provide food to those in need this holiday season.

Thanks for answering my questions and posting pictures, mexylopez!  VERY helpful and now we know what to expect (or not).

You are so welcome! I hope you love this ship, it was the first ship I cruised on in 2010.. It still has the “Real” Crows Nest, library and nice intimate/quiet areas as opposed to the recent dry docks in the fleet. 🙂

  8. I was searching for the roll call for my cruise next year on Nieuw Statendam (Nov 10/19) is it odd that there are roll calls for all her voyages but not one single one for the month of Nov? Or just a coincidence that not a single person has started one for that month 🤔 Thoughts?

First time sailing on Volendam and 3+ years since we've sailed on one of her sister ships so I have questions about what to expect in our Cat. A Vista suite:

    • Do they still have a clothesline over the tub?
    • Do they have a docking station or Bluetooth speaker so we can play music from our iPods?
    • Have the TV's been updated to flat-screens on the wall or are they still on the desk?
    • Are the TV's interactive so we can review our onboard account, have access to movies, watch special programs, etc?
    • Is there still just the one US-type electrical plug (not counting the one in the bathroom for shavers)?
    • Have they added any USB plugs?
    • Have the heavy (and ugly) coffee tables been replaced by the much sleeker, modern metal base tables with the glass top?
    • What furniture should we expect on the verandah?

    Thanks!

I was in this category in Sept

    * yes there is a clothes line (bathrooms updated, nice improvement)

    * no docking station or Bluetooth device

*same old TV on desk with VCR

    * So no interactive TV etc

*one regular plug in, plus the ones used for the TV/VCR so I unplugged them or extra outlets

    * no usb plugs

    * same old table

    * one chair with ottoman and loung chair and small table

    I hope this helps.

Our last Holland America cruise had 89 teenagers, and 45 tweens I’m not sure how many younger kids

Wow! What was the destination/time of year? I might want to avoid that...

  11. Try turning your iPad to landscape. I’ve found the “button” for Luggage Tags will show up when I do that.

Unbelievable! Don't I feel stupid! That's all it was, (all tho it didn't work for my iPhone). Crisis averted 🤦🏼*♀️

    Thank you sooo much!!

  12. You don't need it at the check-in desk, but sometimes you're asked for one at the main gate of a port, and sometimes you're asked for one to enter a terminal building. I don't know what they're asking for in Vancouver, but not having one may cause a little hassle.

Thank you for that info, I guess they will have to mail me my documents, old school way!

  13. Both worked perfectly! I've saved the links for future muck ups with the HAL website.

    Thanks so much!

Unfortunately didn't work for me...Do really need a hard copy of the boarding pass? (Clearly I won't be bring one)

  14. I was able to print Boarding Docs but not Luggage Tags. Please tell me why the Luggage Tags are not included in the Boarding Docs!!

I don't have the option to print anything even tho my check in is 100% complete
