Okay, now it makes sense. ;)
Hey... It's not April 1 yet!
:')

OK, I give in. You forced me to come clean. I confess that I am really Sir Richard Branson and I am trying to quietly, surreptitiously create doubt in reader's minds about Edge, a direct competitor to my Virgin Voyage's upcoming and yet to be named first ship. My goal is that readers will instead book cruises on my new ships.
BTW: I am thinking of naming my first ship "Eden", and the second "Magic Carpet".
Hey:
I think these type comments are a distraction from what Lloyd555 is doing for us in creating this roll call. Say what you will personally I think we are doing him a disservice as we watch this build. I continue to look forward to additional pics and info with appreciation ... comments notwithstanding. :halo:
Best, Murray

Murray, you’re not alone! My husband and I feel the same way. I think we are booked on the same cruise. I hope we’ll meet you and your wife at the sail away:cool::cool:.
Cheers, Michelle
Hi Michelle:
Sounds like a plan.... if not another time as we have lots of days to explore!

Hey Lloyd:
Thanks for posting more photos. While no doubt more ammo for the "nay sayers", my wife and I continue to be impressed! Very much looking forward to our two weeks in just over a year.
Cheers, Murray

Lloyd I miss you and your photos too
Hey:
My bet is Lloyd is having too much fun on Harmony OTS!

Hi all: At risk of providing more ammunition to the nay sayers on this Roll Call here is a link that has vids and other info on the various dining experiences. https://www.celebritycruisespresscenter.com/press-release/1108/guests-will-soon-be-able-to-explore-the-world-without-ever-leaving-their-table-on-the-transformative-new-celebrity-edge/ My wife and I remain thrilled about what we see for the Edge. Cheers all, Murray

Hey Lloyd555:
Have a great cruise on Harmony!

Hi:
Yes the issue of riding the Magic Carpet has been made clear and you can find numerous references. Here is a paste when I queried this issue:
But guests shouldn’t harbor any fantasies about riding the Magic Carpet around the ship. Celebrity Cruises is already very clear that guests will not be able to sit aboard the Magic Carpet as it shifts levels.
So it is not an elevator per se but a moving platform of various venues. I for one can't wait to try it out. I think it will be more interesting than Rising Tides although that was fun as well.
I must admit I suggest Magic Carpet is perhaps a bit of a misnomer as it does not look like it will be carpeted. Perhaps the idea is the view from the bow or aft gives the impressing of flying...? We see it mainly from the side ...
Cheers all, Murray
PS I still like the orange.;)
-
In what way is she a "paradigm shift". She looks like many other ships, but with a lopsided ass and an orange "crutch" on one side. If she were a human, she would look like she is recovering from a medical problem. :D
There are other ships that look more "futuristic and elegant", especially the under construction Virgin Voyages ship, for example.
Still, it's nice to see Celebrity expanding it's fleet with new ships. It tells us our favorite cruise line is doing well.
Hey Sloopsailor:
To me it is the design approach to have structural support of the cruise ship externally that is leading the design innovations internally as much as externally . Such focus on the water views is redundant because I must admit when I cruise I don't spend much time watching my ship cruise through the water as I am inside the ship ...:)
I also suggest I present my thoughts in a more elegant manner... may I say that perhaps you see the ship as having a "lopsided stern"....;)
Cheers, Murray

Lloyd:
Oh my, seeing her in water shows that this ship is definitely a paradigm shift in cruise ship design! Futuristic and it's own elegance. Watched it live last night... stretching my French. Helped to get over the shock of our Infinity Panama cruise cancellation a couple of day's ago... re-booked Caribbean.
Thanks so much ... looking forward to seeing her "all dressed up".

Thanks for the pics ... super!

Blue and orange are complementary colors on the color wheel--I'm getting used to the look, kind of like it now!;)
Hi:
I totally agree. Modern designers often recommend orange as an excellent accent colour. Our condo design consultant encouraged us to think outside the box and use orange as an accent colour ... it worked amazingly! The Magic Carpet is an "accent" to the ship and orange is appropriate. We need to think this signature piece all glassed in and decorated... it will be amazing; particularly in the evening.
More importantly it is our grandson's favorite colour... enough for us :D! I also suggest orange as a decorative colour is a generational preference.

Hi Lloyd and all:

Hi:
Found this item on "pressfrom.com" which to me explained a lot more of what is to come... I edited a bit.
About the "smart phone app"... don't know if I will be "smart" enough to use it... can see myself not being able to get into my stateroom... then again that has happened a lot with those cards that I always zap somehow...
Imagine being able to walk onto a floating luxury hotel, from shore to your suite's door, without having to pull out your passport or swipe a key card. Controlling everything -- from your room's lighting to a reservation at a restaurant or club or booking a tour of the next destination you're sailing to -- from your phone. And all of this on a ship designed from sea level up using the most modern construction techniques both within and without. When the Celebrity Edge launches at the end of next year, it'll be the most advanced cruise liner on the seven Pty Ltd
I did find this part interesting .... maybe you all knew about this point but...
The most important upgrade that the new Edge class vessel brings to the cruising world, though, is something that you can't even see. Not unless you're a proper ship nerd, that is. Where all other current cruise liners use an external frame to reinforce the hull of the ship, with vertical H-bar steel running down the edge of every single window and balcony of a ship's thousand-plus staterooms, the Edge brings that exoskeleton inside the hull. Instead, the Edge's endoskeleton construction -- despite being every bit as sturdy -- allows for those balconies to be significantly wider, with an uninterrupted flow from the cabin itself to the balcony area.
When we toured a mockup of the Celebrity Edge's stateroom with the 'infinity veranda' design -- 512 of which will be on the ship when it launches towards the end of 2018 -- and compared it to the existing setup on current Solstice-class ships, the difference was massive. Not having those vertical steel pillars at each side of the sliding door between the balcony and stateroom opens up the space so much more, and contributes to the new staterooms having 23 per cent more space than the current ships. That space means that all bedrooms on the ship now have king-size beds, too -- a first for any cruise liner.
PS... Thanks for the picts and Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans...
Cheers, M

This message was tweeted yesterday and as well received via email as Captain's Club...
Tune in tomorrow at 11:30 am ET when we’ll be sharing a special message from Celebrity President & CEO, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo! She has some VERY BIG news, so you won’t want to miss this one! See you there!
So no idea... somewhat of a tease!
