  1. I've been looking for info on the Rome (Civitavecchia) port but haven't had much luck. Is the Haven line clearly marked? Anything we need to know? It's our first time sailing from this port.

We've been on Breakaway out of NOLA twice.

In 2022, we arrived at the terminal at about 0945.  We boarded at about 1125 after standing in line for about an hour and a half.

In 2023, we arrived at the terminal at about 1115.  We boarded at about 1125.  No standing in line.

The waiting area at NOLA is very small.  If  you're not there before about 0915, you'll not find a place to sit and will have to stand until you board.

No one boards prior to about 1115 since all the passengers from the previous voyage must depart before boarding begins.

Really, the only reason to arrive early is if you need to be first aboard to make reservations.  Or, if you think getting on board 30 minutes earlier is important.

Yeah, we’ve cruised before so know the drill. I’ve read several stories about the security line at NOLA being a block or two long and not moving when getting there early. Normally you go through security, check in, then sit in a waiting area. Sounds like it may not be quite the same there. I’m thinking it may be better to eat lunch off ship than board.

The merchandising is not only poor in quantity, it seems the quality is poor too.

i bought the sweater with the round print at the front with the Norwegian prima be the first. After the first time in the washing machine the print is destroyed ( and I washed it not to hot )

i bought more but that the others are not washed yet.

That's unfortunate. I always wash shirts like that in cold water and dry on low heat. Or you could air dry if you think they won't hold up.

At night, we parked the mini against a massive wall that had a bank of chargers, located behind the first group of shops as you return to the Dockyard. Overall, a great way to explore the island, one which I would do again.

I was wondering what we would do with it at night or if you just return it. Is there a charge for parking it there? So, when returning to the dock, it's behind the first set of shops?

  5. There is quite a bit of misinformation on here about the Travel authorization form process. You can start the process by filling it out, uploading your vaccination card, and paying the fee up to 30 days before you sail. It will be stored on the website. Four days before your cruise you will receive an email reminding you to upload your negative Covid test. The email will have a link to get you to your application. After you get your negative Covid test you will upload the results and submit the application. You must submit it at least 1 day before departure. Then they will review it, if it's approved you will receive an email.

It is Bermuda requiring the second Covid test if your ship makes another stop first. All of this is on the Bermuda website.

  6. We went in 2018. Our cruise left on June 23 and we went 3 days early to explore. We had a rental car. One day we drove to Mt. Ranier and did one of the loops. The scenery is absolutely stunning. There was still snow at the top and it was foggy so we didn't stop. We did make several other stops along the way to look and take pics. The other day we explored Seattle.

  7. I kept my original email and they can look it up. When we rebooked a cruise using a portion of our FCC it didn't seem right to me. I called and my PCC walked me through the cost, extra % off and the promo. It made sense then but it was a windy road to get there. lol

  8. One time my MIL paid their fare before final payment was due and I found a slight reduction in cost. We called and they were given OBC. Changing cabins wasn't an option because we had 3 rooms together. If you cancel and rebook, don't you risk losing any perks that were originally given if they are no longer offered? Is that something new in their system that it now recognizes price reductions? I haven't heard about that.

By no means was my comment about the cultural value of either places (although I would argue that Ellis Island is significantly more important and interesting than the Statue due to his human history). It was more that with a limited time in New York City that either of these, given the ferry rides necessary to access them, take a disproportionate amount of time to get to and from when you could more quickly see many other sights in New York and cover more ground that way.

If either of these is big on your list, by all means go see them-- they are highly worthwhile and interesting. But just know that you'll need to devote the good portion of one of your two days in NY to do it. My comments were taken completely out of context.

No, I see what you are saying, just wanted clarification. I guess it's all about prioritizing. We will probably have about 2 1/2 days unless we decide to add one more day. We'll have adults in their 40's, 60's, and 70's and teens.
