Just got off the AMA Sonata, a brand new ship. Real casual during the days, jeans etc.

Captains Dinner is a little dressier, some people had jackets but most of the time dinners were almost as casual as daytime. NOTE: If by chance you are going to State Opera house in Vienna for an opera (and I highly recommend it if you can) most people are somewhat dressed up (only the Americans were casual). Just finished, this week, a Danube river cruise from Budapest to Germany. We had terrific weather and it really makes a difference. Here are my quick tips: get off the ship and spend time in the towns; if in Vienna go see an opera at the State Opera House even if you're not into opera; take a bike ride offered by most ships; spend a lot of time on the top sun deck the view is incredible. Drink the local beers!
