  1. We did the 3 night cruise this past August and found it to be a party cruise. Everyone was drunk and a few that had taken something stronger. Before people get on to me for making that observation, my wife is a master's level nurse and works with people with addictions and she knows one when she sees it.

We also did the 4 night cruise and it was not as bad. The 3 night is over the weekend and people do it just to get away for a few days and don't have to take as many vacation days from work to do it.

That may be the way it was in the one you were on but it isn't the general rule. We are taking this cruise tomorrow and again in April for the 3rd and 4th time and we aren't going to "party". We have a longer cruise planned next December however, we take our extended family on this cruise to get their feet wet, so to speak.

Of course that could have to do with timing. Didn't think about the fact that you said August. We usually go in December.

  2. I have a great deal of respect for those cruisers in wheelchairs, on scooters, using canes and/or oxygen. They are out experiencing life instead of sitting home. I hope I have the same drive to cruise should I need assistance.

They always get a clear path from me, I'm not in a hurry.

[emoji867]THIS! I hope I can get out like some of the people I see on ships that you know it has to be difficult for.

  3. Is it self centered to book a cruise with a serious health issue that's already had one removed from a previous cruise? That situation is being discussed elsewhere on this forum. The other thousands on that ship should take a back seat to that individual should they need to be medically evacuated?

I'm into this "cheap Caribbean cruise" for $2100 for 3 plane tickets, $3000 for a single inside cabin and $1500 for excursions and I haven't even gotten on the boat yet. Maybe that's chump change to you but it isn't to me and besides that, I don't have vacation time available to redo it.

If not wanting to miss a port means cruising is not for me, than a person expecting an immediate medical evacuation isn't for them. If this baby were minutes from dying, it took at least 2 hours to turn around.

I don't think it's unreasonable of a passenger to want to know why the ship turned around. If another boat or helicopter weren't available or weather conditions would not permit it, I would accept it.

I don't remember what the medical condition was but we were off the coast of Georgetown. There wasn't a helicopter available to airlift the baby off the ship and actually, when we got back to port the ship Doctor had to go with the baby and the equipment to make sure the baby made it to the hospital as the ships ambulance wasn't equipped to handle this emergency. The baby and her family were flown home to the states after the baby was stabilized and she did make a full recovery.

  4. The rudest thing I've seen was people complaining about a sick baby and the ship having to return to Grand Caymen. In Dec 14 on Freedom a baby on board got extremely sick a couple hours after we left the island. The ship had to turn around and we missed the next port. I've never seen people be more rude. If it would have been my child I would have wanted the captain to make the same call.

  5. This interests me too. I've been on Enchantment OTS twice and Freedom OTS once. People are so quick to try to convince you that you can't feel anything. For some maybe so but not for me. I could feel enchantment the first day as well as Freedom. After that the 1st two cruises I was fine. The second time on EOS in November of 15 the seas were extremely rough and I was sick pretty much the whole time. Next cruise I'm gonna ask my dr. for the patch. Of course next cruise is on Oasis so I should be fine.
