  1. We cruise with our teen.  She is 17 now.  She has never done much in the teen club but she meets teenagers on the lido or sports deck and hangs out with them for the week.

Question for the People’s Republic of Cruise Critic,

I’m fairly new to cruising and I’m wondering if I missed something as far as etiquette is concerned. I have been approached three times tonight with people complaining about my “devil pants.” They cover everything, which doesn’t seem to be a requirement, but they do. It’s just the print that seems to be an issue for some. This is what they look like all over:

I don’t want to be the thing that makes anyone uncomfortable, but I have a hard time imagining that my pants are truly crossing that line, given what I’ve observed others wearing. Opinions? Are people just being ridiculous or am I breaking some sort of unwritten cruise rule?

I don’t see anything wrong with them.  As a matter of fact, they would fit in perfectly when they have Voodoo Moon show later in the week.

  3. My husband’s offer is always drinks for just him.  I either pay by the drink or get cheers just for myself.  However, I can’t get cheers just for myself online before the cruise because it will charge us for both of us.  When I get onboard, I have to go to guest services and purchase it for myself.  They send a note to the casino to get it approved and then I am good to go.  If I purchase a drink before they get it approved, they will credit the individual drink back when charging me for cheers.

  4. I just logged in to try and purchase a bottle of vodka to the room for our 5 day cruise in December and I could not find the proper link.  When googling the topic, it looks like they may not offer bottles of liquor to the room for less than 7 night cruises? Can anyone confirm this?

  5. We have cruised a few times but never been to Mahogany Bay and Belize.  These will be 2 of the stops on our upcoming cruise.  Are we able to get off the ship and walk or taxi to a beach for the day or must we book and excursion in order to find something to do?  Are there any all inclusive places like Mr Sancho’s at these ports?

  6. Does anyone have any experience with not getting PCR test results back in time for an unvaccinated 9 year old?  My niece took a test 48 hours before check in and it is not yet back (check in is in 14 hours so we may still get it in time).  She did also take an emed that was negative and will get the test at the port tomorrow.  But, if the PCR results aren’t back in time for sail away, not sure what will happen?

Verifly is an app that Carnival uses where everything is in one place on the app so no phone fumbling.  You submit your vac card and negative test in advance, it is verified and it gives you a check for each needed piece of data.  We used it for our April cruise and it was great.  Camden there is unfortunately not a RC equivalent.

You knew exactly what I was asking!  I did like the fact that you put all vaccines cards and test results in and they verified them and, once you turned green, you were good to go.  I still had everything printed just in case cell service wasn’t good but it gave me piece of mind knowing everything was legit and there were no issues with testing dates or anything.

  8. As an experienced Carnival cruiser, we are finally going to try RC for the first time in July.  The drinks package gave me a little sticker shock compared to Carnival but I do understand that it is comparing apples to oranges based on the advantages that RC offers.  Can anyone help with some questions so I can convince my hubby to go for it?

I understand there is no drink minimum so I would not be wary of trying new things and not finishing it if I don’t like it.  However, is there a certain time that I would need to wait before ordering a new drink?

Is the drink package good in CocoCay and Labadee?

If I ordered a drink I did not like, would another member of my party (not in my room) who did not order the drinks package be able to finish it or is that a no-no?

thanks for any advice you could offer this newbie!

  9. We are cruising this weekend for the first time in 2 years.  In the past, I have been able to pre-register my daughter for the youth clubs.  I am not able to find where to do that - is preregistration not a thing anymore?

not sure it is matters but she is now eligible for the 15-17 year club so not sure if we need to register her?

  10. I see the fitness centers are 18+.  Is that a hard stop like the Serenity Deck is or can a teenager use the fitness center with an adult.  I have no interest is using it on vacation (lol) but would suffer through if my 15 year old could use it with me.  She is in the middle of her sports season and would like some strength workouts.

  11. Quick question for you knowledgeable people. We are cruising next month and my husband and has the casino offer for cheers on us anywhere on the ship but it is only for him and not both of us.  If I wanted to get the Cheers package, could I get that just for myself due to him having free drinks?  Or would I just need to forgo the package and pay individually?

    How long is the cruise?

In general my feeling is you're spending so little time in the room it's not a big deal. Especially on a ship with as many activities as Mardi Gras.

7 night cruise.  We won’t spend a lot of time but a teenage girl spends a lot of time getting ready!

  13. We are sailing on the Mardi Gras at the end of March. Myself and my husband and my 15 year old daughter.  Right now we have an interior cabin with one pull down berth on the Havana deck.  I was kind of excited to have a dark room to sleep in and have access to the small Havana deck.  But now I am getting fearful of the size of the interior with 3 of us and wondering if we should call and try to upgrade.  I know everyone has their own preferences but curious to know what others would do in my situation?

  14. Does anyone know how far out you can book an Amber Cove cabana?  I do not see that as an excursion option for my March 2022 cruise.  Wasn’t sure if that was because they were all booked or if they don’t book this far out.  Any opinions on if a cabana is worth the cost?

  15. With the new casino offers where is says free drinks anywhere on board (not drinks on us in the casino), is there a catch to that?  Seems too good to be true that they will basically give us the cheers program.  Is there a lower drink minimum than the cheers program or only certain drinks applying?  We booked the promotion so I assume we would not need to buy Cheers but I don’t want to be disappointed if there is some catch.
