Anyone know if the 'european king' beds in the suites split apart into twins like most cruise lines?  I'm looking to cruise with a friend as well and would prefer separate beds.

answered my own question by live chat- and detail on how the convertible bed in sea terrace sleeps in L shape if you want 2 twins.

Sailor Services Crew: Ahoy ! My name is Laura. I'm here to make sure you have an epic holiday experience. What can I help you with today?Me: Hello! i'm considering booking a cruise and had a question about the bed situationMe: i'll be traveling with a friend- do the suite king size beds split into 2 twins like most cruise lines?Me: and same question for the normal balcony rooms that convert to the sofaSailor Services Crew: Our Suites do not split into two twins. Our seabeds split into an L -shape to sleep two singles or L-shaped + pull manSailor Services Crew: the latter would be for a sea terraceMe: the pullman is the bunk above pulls down from ceiling or wall?Sailor Services Crew: You are correct!Me: ok great, thanks for the info!Sailor Services Crew: ceilingSailor Services Crew: No problem!Sailor Services Crew: Let us know if you have more questions!Me: thank you!

  2. I've been on NCL Getaway and Escape few years back.  Love the dining choices and service from crew was always excellent.  Staterooms are nicely appointed.  Entertainment is good.  Enjoyed Legally Blonde (broadway musical) and comedians.  Pools are very small, but luckily I was able to secure access to vibe beach club on both sailings- which requires you to rush to ship and be first aboard to get in line for access. Did not enjoy that rush, but think Vibe is essential to enjoying time on deck as the pool areas are way too crowded.  Spice H20 at back seems ok, but just a water feature no pool.  In Vibe (still no pool, just water feature and hot tubs), you got amazing service from bar staff, and was able to make friends from other people in Vibe throughout the week.

I did feel like NCL was cheaper than RCCL when they combine the perks, vs booking on RCCL and buying drink/ dining packages separately.  This is why went back to NCL a second time, pricing overall won.

I've been on some older RCCL ships, so not a fair comparison to NCL's newest, but I think the lines are far more similar than different, and if you enjoy one you'll enjoy the other.

One thing RCCL excels at is in their ship design, and wow spaces which push the entire industry forward.  I'm excited to finally try an Oasis class on Harmony in a few months.  As one who appreciates interesting architecture and design, RCCL (and Celebrity) have no peers.  NCL builds nice ships, but they  seem like nice public rooms built into the generic box ship, vs as as RCCL's ships seem designed especially for the grand spaces   Think ten deck atriums, three and four deck dining rooms, expansive mall like multi deck promenades, and Central Park and Boardwalk built into the widest hull with a split superstructure of several decks cabins above.  It is really amazing how they designed the Oasis Class, which has still has no peer in the industry over ten years later.

  3. Hi Rose,

You certainly can order the high end bottles in the YC dining room...but you will be charged. I know that last year if you had the Deluxe Package...same as YC...that they discounted each bottle by 30%.

I just checked the MSC web site and it says the All Inclusive Premium package gives you a 30% discount on all bottles of Champagne and wine.

Can anyone confirm you get 30% off with the yacht club package?

  4. So in Yacht Club, anyone know if you get the 30% discount on bottles of wine and champagne? This is mentioned on the description of the deluxe all inclusive package for Europe. We are sailing on Seaview in September. I may want to buy a nice bottle of bubbly to celebrate. What is the included champagne by the glass in Europe, is it Nicolas Feuillatte like i've read is on Seaside out of Miami?

    Thanks all!

  5. We will be on the Meravigilia later this month, sailing from Naples. It will be our cruise MSC cruise.

I understand that disembarkation & embarkation will happen at every port on this itinerary. With that logic, then not all passengers will embark/disembark in Naples thus the process should not be too bad. The ship docks in Naples at 13:00.

    1. How soon after it docks can the new passengers board?

    2. What is the latest MSC require the passengers to disembark?

We will be traveling from Rome. I need to figure out the timing so I can purchase our train tickets.

    TIA!

Hello! I have the same question. Will be on Seaview in September 2018, embarking and disembarking Naples. Ship arrives same time 13:00. Need to confirm how much time i should allow from the ship's arrival time to disembark and get to the Naples Centrale train station for a train from Naples to Rome. Is there any customs line to go through leaving the ship? I'm thinking not since ship remains in EU whole itinerary I think.. Also are there TSA style security check in lines at the train station I need to budget time for? I see the station is approximately 15 minutes from the port by car. We are in Yacht Club so know i will have priority disembarkation, just curious about the customs/security situation as this is our first cruise in the Mediterranean.

    Thanks!

  6. Yes, our upcoming escape cruise we are going with the standard balcony. On my rccl enchantment cruise we have an aft corner booked, I'm thinking the corner will get more wind.

However deck 12 may get more breeze than my cabin on 9 did. 9 had the roof of the waterfront right in front of the railing which may have been a factor. Also could have been that we were sailing into the wind on my entire cruise..

  7. I had a cabana on the Getaway in September. I rarely stayed in the Cabana because it was soooo hot! No breeze what so ever. I am going on the Escape in a few weeks and will try to get regular passes this time around.

To be fair I also had the thermal spa pass as well. I think getting both is a bit much, just in the fact that there is so much to do.

I was solo and thought that I would spend 70% of my time there. It's amazing how many people I met though and they didn't have the pass so it was limiting my time there.

I was on the same cruise as Buchman67, who I met at our cruise critic meet/mingle. I had a regular vibe pass, and she was nice enough to let me try out her Cabana for a bit.

The Vibe was very windy most of the sea days. They could not have the umbrellas up, and your belongings would fly away. Meanwhile, the cabana's block all that wind making them very warm.

I would still recommend getting a regular pass, as the -away class ships are lacking in deck space. I did enjoy have access to a bar that was never busy, and also its a great venue for sail away.

  8. Anyone else find it weird they aren't disclosing what is being worked on? Also, the term 'scheduled maintenance' doesn't seem appropriate to me. If it were scheduled, they should have indicated that this particular cruise leaves at midnight, not 4pm as advertised.

  9. Have a look at the video on you tube (search for aft NCL)

They are big. I'll compare them to the mini-suite with large balconies.... those are huge but very exposed. I was in 8124 in May 2015. I will be in 9320 in 2 weeks do I can compare. I do believe many have stated that the higher you go, the smaller the size of the aft......

Would you mind sharing some photos when you get back of 9320? We have that room booked a few weeks after you do. Thanks!
