I just booked the Seaside YC suite and in order to get the suite with 3 beds, I had to have a "5th" person on the reservation. I paid for the 3rd bed, (about 175) but the "5th" person will be a no show. It was still worth it, as the same suite type is 3k less than what I have booked on NCL Gem same time frame.
3 beds do you mean the main bed plus a set of bunk beds?
Do you list a name for the "5th Person"?
If we wish to switch an existing reservation to include the bunk beds could it be done over the phone?
Any risk of issues boarding without the "full party" thanks

Certainly would not plan on missing start of cruise. But even flying in day before stuff can happen. Since there is a port the 1st day, and since it has a decent airport (Nassau) I was curious is MSC allow you do board at a port in such a circumstance.

wow. $ 200 tip on top of the auto grats??? I hope you are kidding.

If your already paying over $5k for your cruise + airfare and misc expenses, then $200 tip, if it makes any impact on service and enjoyment of cruise is a pretty good ROI.

Is the small deck area on the very front of 15 for crew (officers) only?

Do you mind me asking what price you got for YC?
I just booked the 3-17-18 sailing for our family of 4 in 1 fantastica balcony cabin. Cost us 2250 with a few perks thrown in. I was quoted 5400 for a YC balcony, but wasn't ready to spend that much.
Juse got off the Divina and wasn't impressed with Eatery steakhouse. Hopefully the specialty dining will be better on Seaside. Looks like most of your other questions have been answered. We did the Getaway 2 years ago and also enjoyed it allot.
Thanks
We got the same price you mentioned for the YC. $2,250 for balcony family of 4 is amazing.
We didn't think the YC was bad price compared to $4,500 standard balcony on Getaway

MSC newbie here so I may sound a little uninformed but I had a question about the location of the Main Buffet. I know that no one "really" knows anything until the ship launches but it seems strange that the buffet would be located on Deck 8 since that is very far removed from the pool/Lido deck.
Wouldn't there be a lot of traffic between the two which are usually located close together?? Is this standard for MSC?
I am booked on the Seaside for the New Years Eve cruise and I am VERY excited! I am anxiously reading as much information as I can get...
Thanks for all of the good info everyone!!
These were my thoughts exactly.
There is a pool and outdoor space on deck 8, perhaps thinking is thats where those who wish to have breakfast outside will go?

Today I received a brand new brochure from MSC Cruises USA. Quite nicely done and a little different than previous MSC Cruises brochures I've received. This one is more slick and refined, more in line with what lines like Royal Caribbean and NCL produce. The ships highlighted are MSC DIVINA, MSC SEASIDE, and MSC MERAVIGLIA. I found it interesting that MERAVIGLIA was included even though her cruises from Miami are not highlighted yet. Obviously MSC is smart enough to start building up the hype for her in North America.
Unrelated to the brochure, I've been reading recent reports that MSC's new private Bahamas out island, Ocean Cay *is* slated to receive its first ships later this year. This would be great if true and is contrary to the delays that were announced earlier. The Spring 2017 issue of Cruise Industry News Quarterly, Achille Staiano, head of Commercial Services for MSC states that MSC ships are slated to start calling at Ocean Cay in November 2018. There is another article in Spring 2017 issue of International Cruise & Ferry Review, Gianni Onorato, MSC Cruises chief executive states that the sand for Ocean Cay has been laid to sculpt the island to desired dimensions, and the target for work to be completed is October 2018 and the project is on schedule. He does admit that MSC underestimated the complexity of the project at the start.
Anyway there was something on MSC SEASIDE in this new brochure I haven't seen before, and that is a 2-page cut-away view of the ship. I always enjoy these, with the more detail the better. Perhaps others have seen this before, but it was a first time for me. I've attached it here for those interested.
Interesting that this shows the Specialty Restaurants on a middle deck, (8?). The Deck plans on the website show them on deck 16.
Do we know if the main breakfast buffet will be on deck 16, or is that on a middle deck also?

Regarding the Grand Suites,
There are 3 at the front of each deck (left right and center). The Center Obviously has a forward facing balcony and should match the plan shown for that room.
The left and right however show a curved wall on the deck plan that does not match the room plan.
Any thoughts if the left and right have forward facing balcony?

Did you hear of anyone else with a good butler experience or did you find the criticism universal? I've read that if you tip $100 or so on Day 1 that the service and unexpected extras increase.

Would be interested on hearing experiences with this as well. Assume you would plan on tipping at the end also?

For the ships already operating: how does the specialty dining work? Can you pre-purchase a group of dinners, chose a reservation time each night, how much do they run?
If they wont do a bottle will room service or YC bar give me a pitcher of mimosas for the balcony (that champagne flute wont last long) ?
thanks

Family of 4, Have done NCL Getaway and liked it alot. What lead us to chose MSC was Yacht Club for only $1K over price of NCL Balcony Cabin (Haven would be double Yacht club). Doing Seaside out of Miami spring break 2018
Questions
1 Specialty Dining - The process was very clear on NCL and our regular Balcony cabin included some specialty dining. Is it correct Yacht club does not outside of Yacht Club Restaurant? Option to purchase Specialty dining package not yet available even though cruise is booked, due to new ship, restaurants not finalized? How would pricing and reservations for this work?
2 -Does all YC include Champagne and Wine brought to the room by the bottle? Liquor by the bottle? I dont mind mixing / pouring my own.
3 Menu for Yacht Club restaurant? Feel like I will like Steakhouse and Hibachi Grill type places better. Eggs to order for Breakfast in YC?
4. Random question but does MSC allow you to board at a later port if you miss start of cruise?
thanks for any answers

Going on the Getaway Spring break. Staying in Miami Beach night before and would rather send the morning/afternoon on the beach then try and rush on the boat.
What is the latest time to safely arrive at the terminal?
Worst case scenario how long to cab from South Beach to the terminal? thanks

Similar situation:
I booked a speak break cruise (Balcony-Getaway) and the same cruise is now offering balcony guarantee for $1,300 less.
I am not picky about cabin selection and would have gone guarantee for that kind of price difference.
The only significant upgrade would be haven which is showing sold out, recommendations on what to ask for?

Ugh. $6 blackjack is a rip off. I hope there will be some $10 tables. I miss the $5 electronic blackjack on the Gem.
Are the rules different on $6 BJ tables and $10 BJ tables?
-
Probably a new cost saving measure from NCL.
If they see someone taking too much from the Buffet or too many drinks on the UBP they "neutralize" them for as long a possible
-
If "caught" joining the balcony club what kind of consequence are we talking about?
Just A Little embarrassment? Kicked of the ship? Sex Crime charges?
-
Most of the days had plenty available to book. But there or 2 days in the middle of the cruise with no Dining or Show reservation available online for the entire cruise day.
I'm curious if they are all booked or if NCL would hold back an entire day (or 2) of reservations for those who don't reserve anything before they get onbaord?
Cruise is around 85 days out

Odd question, but will the chefs accommodate you if you request a butter free meal at the teppanyaki restaurant?
any decent restaurant should give you all the free butter you want without charging you for it
-
Based on the extra hours on port days it seams they allow leaving your kids in Splash Academy while doing a port excursion.
Can anyone confirm this is allowed and any issues you have had with it? It there a separate age requirement to leave them on the ship while you are off?
-
If you do buy the alcohol package,
do you flash a card or band, and not have to sign a ticket at all?
-
Thanks to all, very helpful answers
Looking at the menus raises a few breakfast questions, the room service breakfast menu very limited, does the Terrace Cafe have Breakfast buffet or menu?
Also will they let me order breakfast for "the wife" in the GDR and take it back to the room myself?
We would like to eat breakfast on either the pool deck or in our own.
I should mention i am looking at Caribbean cruise in March

The Wife???????????????????????????????????????
you'd be going alone if you were my "husband"
regards:eek:
indeed, If you were my wife I would go alone.

Considering a 7 night Oceania Cruise for the Wife and I with a standard balcony room. The other option is a 7 night SilverSea with an Ocean view room for $600 more. The Oceania includes the prepaid gratuities but not alcohol so the price is a wash. Comes down to the Balcony plus whatever advantages Oceania has vs the SilverSea advantages. Never sailed either line
Any thoughts welcome.
Also a few Oceania questions
1. Dinning options- I have priced together I little of how it works but any further explanation would be great. Really like Polo Grill menu, how many time should we expect to go? Can we order room service for a price?
2. Pool Deck- How often is it difficult to find a lounge chair and are any of them reserved for Suite guests or rentals? There seem to be some large wicker chases in the photo, I would assume those are not first come first serve.
3. Drink Prices- Although I we both drink, I don't know if we would drink over $800 to cove the all-inclusive especially considering some drinking will be off the boat. What are the prices?
Yacht Club drinks free ship-wide

Fireball a "Premium Spirit"?
I believe only the 18 year Fireball is considered Premium
