Fabulous read. Thanks for sharing your time, pictures and memories. We will be on a similar itinerary on the Silhouette next May. Could I ask if the casino was shut the whole time you were docked at SPB?
-
Hi. Was the casino open for the nights you were at StP?
-
Phew what a super review. It seems I've been with you on the trip and experienced all the things you did. Thanks nick.
I'm doing the same cruise ,with family and friends,on the silhouette next May ( except it's 13 nights and has 2 nights 3 days in spb )
Will pick your brains for more tips if you don't mind.
Thanks again for the great review

Thanks jlajr
Will look at the links provided by you. Grateful for the trouble you took to find these.

Thank you Marian for your prompt response. Will carry shekels for miscellaneous expenses. Tour co has agreed to take US D for their charges.
Meanwhile would you know anything about how to get a local phone chip for 3 days with international calling and data services?
Thanks for your help

Hi everyone
We will be arriving in Israel on celebrity constellation end October.
Just wondering if it is possible to pick up at the cruise port or any other place a local smartphone chip for 3 day use ?
And if US dollars are acceptable or do we need to have Israeli currency ?

Hi everyone
I'm interested in buying an Internet package, which as suggested is better bought on board. But what I'm not sure is whether the entire ship( we are the Connie in 2 weeks ) is WiFi and if we can use the net for working from the cabin or its operative only in certain hot spots or the I lounge?
Appreciate if anyone can clarify
Thanks

An amazing review. Looking forward to our own trip on Connie in October on some of the same destinations. Thank you Oliver and Birgit for your travelogue. Hope you keep it up.

Thank you. I plan to try different cocktails and liqueurs etc. And j definitely don't know which would be premium and which would be classic. So guess I shd be telling the server to make it as he would make one for a classic pkg. does that sound convoluted or could it work ?
-
My alcoholic drinks would be pay as I go. How do i get an idea about the px of the cocktail I order ? Wouldn't that depend on the liquor used? For ex if I order a vodka based drink shd I expect to be served absolut or grey goose? Do i specify each time? I'm pretty sure I don't know my booze that well. Grateful for views on how this would work in practice.

We were in a Sky Suite, so I honestly did not eat in the buffet the entire cruise. Loved Luminae (who doesn't?), but also loved Ocean Liners and my breakfast every morning on our balcony.
Service throughout the ship was great. We did have a burger one day for the lunch at the grill and it was good.

Thanks

Did not eat the sushi, but I witnessed others eating the sushi and it looked good!
Thanks
-
Did you try the sushi bar? How did that go?
-
Your top three dining choices ? How was service and spread in the buffet?

Both my DH and I have different drinks packages, and this was done over the phone with celebrity directly! [emoji2]

From what I have been told, if it is done before the sail date of the cruise - then everyone in the cabin has to have the same package. If done at a bar onboard - just one person in a cabin can do it no problem. And there is no price difference on drink packages beforehand or on-board.
The Celebrity rep I spoke to said the 2nd person needn't have the same package , in fact, needn't have any pkg if that's what (s)he wanted. And that that policy applied to online purchase pre sailing and to on board purchase.
-
Your TA is wrong.
If you are receiving the package as a free perk then both occupants of the cabin have to choose the same FREE perk.
If you are purchasing the drink package then only one person may do that.
Many thanks for the info :)

Time to get a new TA
:) probably right . Glad to have checked and got the correct info , that's a big relief. Thank you
-
My TA tells me passengers in the state room cannot have different beverage packages. I am wondering if that is accurate? I would be grateful for views. I will be looking to purchase these packages (they are not part of perks)
-
YMMV, but everything should be covered if you have the classic package with the exception of those items listed in the other favorites and more favorites section of the menu. The hot chocolate is covered though.

Thanks. I'm keen on the coffee cocktails and this is good to know!
-
just tasted like a "spanish" coffee if you've ever had that before. It was nice - - Drinks like that are hard on my stomach though - combination of coffee and strong alcohol lol. The presentation of everything at El Bacio is very nice.
Thanks . Nope I'm not familiar with Spanish coffee but will be sure to get to know the Bacio menu :) and I guess if my classic pkg doesn't get one of those I will just pay as I go.
-
Yes, I got the Aspen coffee which included alcohol on my Classic Package. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be included but it was when I asked for it.
:) thanks . was it delicious? The description is yummy
-
Hi all. We'll be on the Connie in October. I wonder if anyone out there has had personal experience of using the classic alcohol package? My qs is whether it includes all the fancy coffees (frappes, flavoured espressos, affogatos etc) and international coffee cocktails. TIA
Celebrity compared to Princess
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
We've sailed on both. Loved the regal princess. And will be on Silhouette next May. Found both lines quite similar with three key differences : Princess's International cafe is 24x7 whilst Celebrity's equivalent (forget the name) is not. Princess's self service laundry and ironing option is welcome, Celebrity does not offer that. For smokers into gaming, the Princess casino is a far more pleasurable experience- Celebrity's casino is completely non smoking. In fact smokers can not smoke anywhere indoors on Celebrity which is not the case with Princess.
