As for the person who said they would seek a smoke or vape in the elevator, all I have to say is SERIOUSLY? That is a major problem if you can't wait for 20 minutes to get somewhere where you are allowed to smoke.

For those who feel like they are being a snitch, no need to feel this way and don't let others make you feel this way either. Reporting something that is against the rules and it is bothering you is simply standing up for yourself.

    From a vaper's perspective:

Many of us are going to avoid the smoking areas altogether if we can. Think about it - we were addicted to cigarettes for years and we smelled like a wet ashtray the whole time. We're proud we were able to quit, and the last thing we want to do is go sit in a haze of smoke and listen to people cough.

I'm particularly sensitive to the smell, because it used to smell like relief. Now that part of my brain is satisfied, so cigarettes smell like something horrendously toxic is on fire. (Sorry, smokers. I ain't mad at ya.)

I realize I could avoid vaping on the ship altogether, because the rules are in place for a reason. And I will keep it minimal.

However - to address the snitching comment:

Snitching is the only way a careful vaper would be caught breaking the rules. It's about as smelly as briefly spraying hairspray or cologne, and the vapor dissipates in around 11 seconds (unlike cologne). Studies show most of the nicotine is absorbed by the vaper and is only in the exhaled vapor in minimal amounts. http://tobaccoanalysis.blogspot.ro/2013/12/anti-smoking-advocates-are-scaring.html

What the people around the vaper are breathing is a tiny amount of flavored propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin - ingredients commonly found in asthma inhalers and packaged foods. Many vapers make it a point to avoid blowing clouds around, because that *does* bother people. And we're not trying to get our nicotine all over you, for sure.

But if I take a quick vape of something honeysuckle-scented and hold it in my mouth until the steaminess is gone...you guys won't even notice. If you didn't watch me vape it, you'd walk by and be like, "Do I smell honeysuckle? Nevermind, it's gone now."

So if you see a vaper doing that *outside* and it bothers you, I find that difficult to understand. I probably extended my life by 20 years, and you're worried about a passing whiff of honeysuckle-nicotine. It's just odd. But because further study is needed on how harmful second-hand vapor is, and because I'm a mostly well-behaved lady, I'll do my best to make sure you aren't bothered enough to snitch. :-)

Since you have your own gear and state that snorkeling is a priority, you may find some of the beaches that beginning snorkelers rave about to be less than "all that". That's how I view Sapphire and Coki, as well as the two most popular beaches on St. John - Trunk and Cinnamon.

If you're willing to go the "extra mile" to maximize your snorkeling experience I'd be glad to give you my recommendations.

    Hi augie,

We too have gear and are looking for primo snorkel spots. Waterlemon Cay on our honeymoon a few years ago was spectacular - all those starfish, and it was so wonderfully quiet. I was able to peacefully follow sea turtles for at least an hour. :)

Very much interested in hearing your recommendations on this. A few caveats:

Don't want to stray too far from Crown Bay. First time cruisers and don't know how long it takes to get on and off the ship, etc.

...As far as food/bevs, those would be mighty handy but we're not picky about the options.

    Don't mind a bit of walking/lugging gear.

Have never been to Water Island, nor St. Thomas except to catch the ferry to St. John that one time.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Hi guys!

I need to lose 20 lbs. before July, and I've used WW before with great success. I found a site where you can follow WW for free. It looks like kind of a pain - several different apps and calculators, but just in case you don't want to join WW again *like me*, here it is:

Hope that works - have never posted a link here before. I haven't started yet - the weather is still, shall we say, non-motivating! I've got to get on it, though. The last 10-20 is a bear to lose. Does anyone else plan to get in great shape and then eat/drink to your heart's content on vacation?? :)

  4. I'll take your word for it.

I have two atmos tanks Pro-T Mini Cartridge Clear with the atmos base. They are almost identical to the Kanger mini Protank-2 clearomizer. I do use the Kanger coils in them.

I have two batteries, one is the Kanger E-vod battery 1000mAh and the other is the ego c-twist 1000 mAh (milli amp hours).

I prefer the slimmer batteries and tanks. Hubby has different ones because he prefers the bigger ones (Boys and their toys) :D

As for where the batteries and tanks were purchased some were online and some from a local store. Can't remember which parts from where. If you look there some great deals. Just make sure you are getting the real thing, not a knock-off.

We buy the coils on ebay. You have to make sure they are real Kanger coils, the fake ones are nowhere near as good or long-lasting. It should have Kanger printed on the foil and should come in a black box.

As for liquids, My favorite combination is to almost fill the tank with Halo Brand LongHorn E-liquid and then to add a few drops of US Made eLiquid - Fire Cured Virginia. I only use liquids made in the US by reputable companies. I have tried many flavors, and for me this is the best.

To purchase the liquids, we buy Halo directly from the halocigs website and fire-cured from myvaporstore website.

Love the vape talk! My husband and I use eGo c-twist 1300 mAh with Smok cartos and tanks. We get our juice from Alice in Vapeland (online) or Avail Vapor here in VA. Our favorite flavors are lemon cake, Persian winter (tobacco, melon and spices), earl grey tea, and lychee. Happy vaping! :)

  5. I'm concerned about having to use my vaporizer in smoking areas, I quit about 4 months ago and fear being around the smokers will make me want to smoke :p Hopefully by July I'll have hit my the "this is repulsive" point otherwise I may be keeping my vaporizer in my purse for quick bathroom stops ;)

    Hi Jessica and everyone,

First time poster here. I vape an e-cigarette and am not planning to stop prior to my cruise. It's allowed me to go 11 months without a nasty cigarette, and I'm not ready to give it up. Since it doesn't smell any more than briefly spraying hairspray or cologne would, I'm pretty sure we can get away with "stealth" vaping on the ship. Just make sure we're not blowing clouds of vapor around and avoid being showy with the ecig itself, and we should be fine I would imagine. Wondering what you think of this, and what the die-hard anti-smokers think as well.

    Thanks in advance!
