  1. Thanks for your great review. We will be sailing in the opposite direction in a week, and I especially enjoyed reading your impressions of the tours. They will definitely guide my choices. Glad to read all the nice words about Avalon, too.

We are on that trip next week as well! Basle-Amsterdam 25/6

Looking forward to it (except the 02.45 am collection for the airport!):)

  2. We recently went on a Carribean cruise on Adonia and after 48 hours I went down with Swine Flu, which I must have taken with me, as we discovered other family and friends at home had the same. I gave my wife the bug 24 hours later and we were isolated in our cabin, which thankfully was a Penthouse suite, for 4 days. The medical staff were excellent, as were the room staff who cleansed our cabin twice daily. The nurse attended morning and afternoon and the doctor phoned each day. Fortunatley we didn't spread the bug as no one else suffered, which is pleasing. Unfortunaley we missed 3 islands, but watched from our balcony. I cannot praise P&O more for the way they handled my illness and sorted refunds for trip we had paid for

  3. Fly ! Unless you enjoy 5 days without anything to see and only the ships daily activities, or watching those getting married to keep you from going mad! It was also very bumpy mid Atlantic! We have done both having just returned from 2 weeks on Adonia from Barbados and in 9 hours you are there with 10 islands as apposed to 3 on a transatlantic

  4. We did a 2 night Brittania to Guernsey in September and loved it. It a lovely ship, and we had no complaints other than the wait for tables for dinner with freedom dining. We dropped our lugage off and parked the car 2 mins away. The formal dinner was the second night I just wore a dark suit. The restaurant food was very good, we didn't bother with a speciality dinner. Just go down to the tender when you are ready. We left it till later so the trips had gone. The shops are shut on a Sunday, but there was a street market when we were there. Theres nice seafood restaurant in the yatch harbour. Take a taxi ride round the island and not too late for the tender back, as the trips arrived back for the last 2 tenders and it was heaving!

    Have fun
