For my b2b2b Iceland and Canada cruises next year, inside stateroom, we have about $1000 per cruise.  Booked onboard,  plus Celebrity offer with obc, plus shareholder credit plus Celebrity matched whatever "gift card" amount the big box TA  is offering for that sailing. ( you have to ask the Celebrity agent, I've never been denied it).

I used a little bit to upgrade  to premium beverages at 6.99 per day. The rest will get "laundered" at the blackjack tables.  We won't use it for shore excursions because they are generally overpriced compared to doing private tours.

I have never heard of asking Celebrity to match the big box TA gift card.  We booked a cruise onboard and transferred to a big box TA that rhymes with Bosco.  Do we call our big box TA or call celebrity directly?

This is a great tip if it works.

  2. We took an Uber in October to the airport from Terminal 25.  We had to wait about 45 minutes and the price was $38. Luckily we were not in a rush.  I remember a few years ago we got on the short  taxi line and the fee was about $12 . I was easier taking the taxi but maybe things have changed.

  3. We just got off Equinox this week. We stayed in cabin 1547 which is on the port side forward on the 11th  floor.  We were under the aqua Cafe and Solarium.    The room was very quiet and we enjoyed the location and the cruise and of course Blu.  I would have no hesitation to book this room again.

You should be able to but the new reservation will be repriced and perks at that time will be applied.   Always a good idea to call your Agent or Celebrity instead of relying on word of mouth on the forum.  I used one of my FCC on a cruise that was about to be cancelled so I transferred it to a new Cruise and had no problems.   As long as you are keeping the same reservation number you shouldn't have any problems.

I believe I was using a different type of Future Cruise than your are asking about.    The one I was using was the Book On Board Future Cruise Certificate as oppose to a FCC.

    Hi Jim:

Thanks for the quick response.  I follow your trip reports and thoroughly enjoy them.

Actually the cruise that we cancelled was  booked on board in 2019 for a March 2020 cruise.  We cancelled the cruise right before all cruises were cancelled so unable to get a refund.  I was not aware that there are different types of future cruises credits.  I called Celebrity this morning and was told the OBC that we received when booking onboard is attached to our FCC.  Do you find that this is true?

Of course I will call Celebrity once we are ready to book.  We may have a wedding in 2022 but don't know the date yet so if we book the cruise and then find out we have a conflict, we would want to change the cruise date.

I know you are very knowledgeable about all things Celebrity, so thanks in advance for allowing me to pick your brain.

    Regards,

    Karen

    What concerns do you have?

My main concern (which is unknown) is not being allowed off the ship after 7 days and enduring what the Princess cruisers are going through.  I am not worried about catching the virus and plan on using good cleanliness judgement such as washing my hands, using hand sanitizer etc.  it’s a call we have to make for ourselves.

We are leaning towards going as we will be in Florida.

  6. We cannot decide whether or not to cancel our March 15 Edge cruise.  Perhaps hearing cruisers who recently disembarked within the last week, (late February - early March) can help us make this decision.

We booked during that great Veteran’s Day sale and would really hate to cancel this trip that we have been looking forward to the cruise and experiencing the Edge.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

  7. Hi Michelle:

We were on the Reflection this past summer.  We had the internet package ( regular not surf) and we made wifi calls on our IPhone 7.  You have to turn off the data and roaming but turn on wifi calling.  It works fine.  This is only for the iPhone , so not sure of other types of phones.

We’ve been on the Reflection twice and loved every minute.  It’s a beautiful ship.

  8. We just booked the Edge for March 15 and the only available dining time is 8:30 (ugh).  I just emailed the Celebrity Dining to see if we can be switched to Select.  I Previously called the Captains Club and they said the Select is closed.  We are waitlisted for  6:00PM dining which isn’t that great but probably better than 8:30.  Hopefully we’ll be able to get select but won’t let this get me down.  We got a great price with 4 perks from this fantastic Veteran’s day sale.

    You’re welcome!

I am excited to follow your trip report and your impressions of the Edge.

We were in Santorini a few years ago and did the walk down to the tenders.  You will have no issues with walking down but just know that you are sharing the path with the donkeys and the “presents” they leave behind.  The steps are very slippery  so make sure you wear shoes or sneakers with good traction.   You will also want to look where you are stepping as you walk down.

We first took the ferries to Oia and then the bus back to Fira.   It is one ticket for both modes of transportation.  You will see the vendors selling the tickets. I don’t remember the cost.   When we were there in August it was very crowded so going to Oia first made sense as it wasn’t as crowded early in the day.

Santorini is absolutely beautiful and I hope you enjoy your visit.  I look forward to your report.

    For the first question.

Yes plenty of taxies and yes plenty of busses but they where maybe only 30% filled up.

If you can make it to the 10:20 bus 25 departure to Nørreport (end of the line) you can make it, else you will be to late.

You have the options to walk the 15 minutes to Rådhuspladsen or take bus 6A towards Rødovrehallen and get off at Rådhuspladsen.

No sorry I haven´t used the App because I use a travel card similar to Londons Oystercard so I can´t help you with that.

Will it be quicker to take bus 6A or walk.  Will we have to pay another fare to take the second bus.?

Is it this year or next year.

very important info for your traveling plans 🙂

We are traveling this year to Copenhagen on Celebrity Reflection.  It appears we are the only Reflection cruise coming into Oceankaj, as all the others are docking in Langeline.

There was 2 huuuge ships in port at Oceankaj today (MSC Meraviglia and Regal Princess).

My and my brother took a trip out there 3-4 hours before departure and my observation was that the number of taxis was plenty and the busses rather empty.

    Hi Danish Viking:

Thanks so much for this information.  I just read all 15 pages and I have a few questions.

You said in the above quote that the taxis were plenty and  buses were rather empty.  Did you mean there were plenty of taxis and few buses or empty buses that no one was using?

We are arriving on September 4 on the Celebrity Reflection and will be in Oceankaj port from 10am to 6pm.  We plan on taking bus 25 to Norreport and walk to city hall where we will pick up the Free Walking Tour.  Will we be able to make it there for the 11:00 tour?

One more question-  we are buying a SIM card for our phone so we will have data on our phone while we are in Europe.  We downloaded the DOT app to buy bus tickets in Copenhagen and it appears you can only buy one ticket at a time for one person.  Do you have any experience using the app to buy bus tickets?

    Thanks for your response

  13. I too am awaiting response about wifi calling .  All we need to do is check our business email and go on our business website to check for messages.  We would also want to make wifi calling.  We figured we would buy the regular internet package but if the Surf package suffice,s of course we would rather spend less.

  14. We are traveling with friends in 2 veranda cabins.  There seems to be many unsold aqua class cabins as the prices were really high.  As we get closer to sail date I am interested in any move up opportunities to Aqua, however we only want to move up with our friends.  Does  anyone know if 2 reservations can be linked so that we both can move up together?

    Thanks

Internet service on Reflection is much slower/weaker than Equinox. We're going to have to go to Guest Relations and make them reverse our charges down to the lower-speed package, because the higher-speed streaming service just isn't what's promised.

Did you change to the lower cost internet package (Surf Internet Package) ?  We will be on the Reflection in August and only need internet to check our business website, email and make wifi calls on the IPhone.  We don't need to stream sites like Netflex, etc...  Can you shed any light on the internet .  Enjoy the rest of you cruise.  I am enjoying your review.

    Thanks

  16. We are going on a 12 day Baltic Cruise in August. We usually have 4 perks so never had to purchase the internet package.  Now we only have 2 perks and we need Internet to check our business email, go online to our business website and make wifi calling on the Iphone.  We do not need to stream movies or go use skype or face time. Is the Surf Internet enough for our needs?  Does it run slower than the regular internet package?

    Thanks

  17. You can read the TripAdvisor reviews I linked and decide if you are okay with what others encountered. The Ship Creek Comfort Inn or the Anchorage Grand Hotel are even closer to the rail depot if you decide to change.

Thanks for the info. I cancelled The Quality Suites and booked Anchorage Grand Hotel. The fact that we can walk to the train station for the early morning trip makes this a great choice. Thanks for the recommendation.
