  1. This is our first Carnival Cruise. there is 6 of us between two rooms. 4 kids 2 adults The FTTF is a no brainer for us once I read about it with our little ones they hate waiting for anything and this seems like a great deal. I was able to get FTTF for both our rooms. no issues with it being sold out for either, of course, we have booked Pride for NOV 2018 so maybe that is why since we are so far out.

  2. I also just got off the Grandeur.

For your age group of kids i think you will be just fine however it is my opinion this ship is no good for kids under 3.

Other then a few afternoon hours of "open play" or Paid by the hour baby sitting there is Nothing for the under three crowd.

Our 13 year old enjoyed herself alot.

Our 11 year old did get bored but one waiver later and she was able to be in the teens club and was just fine for the most part.

me and my wife are mixed since we spent so much time just trying to keep our little one some what happy.neither of us feel we got to see any where close to what the ship had to offer.

  3. we just got off the Granduer. If your 3 year old is potty trained the adveture ocean should work well for you however if your little one still requires diapers (like our 16 month old did) i Caution you there is very very little for your toddler to do. they do have structured baby sitting for a fee, and a small block of open play time in the nursery, they also have a small bags of toys that can be borrowed. However there is no events or activities planned for you to engage in WITH your toddler. For us we wanted to spend time with our children not just drop them off in day care(we could have left them home for all that and saved the cost of a ticket.)add that to no pool use for the little ones in diapers and it can be a very difficult cruise for a toddler. if you're port heavy and bring things to off set the lack of young kids activities (small blow up tub to splash in on the pool deck and ample toys, books, and games.) you can make due we expected the ship to have some under three activities planned thanks to a less then honest booking agent, however we planned for no pool with a blow up tub and we booked excursions that our whole family could do.

As an adult, the ship is wonderful and i have nothing to say negative about the ship or her crew. Baltimore was great (getting off using self departure was hilarious and i would advise against it at all costs).

the only real issues i had not including my little one had to do with other cruisers which RCCL has nothing at all they can do to control.

  4. We also just got of the Grandeur a very nice Ship in my opinon but it left a lot to be desired when it came to our 16 month old passenger. she was left with nothing to do outside of the open play times which where a bit hit or miss. I did Enjoy Coco Cay very crowded. but no more then an amusement park on a Saturday. i never had trouble securing drinks from the roving vendors (love those cocolocos) and we only waited 5-6 minutes for food at the buffet simply by walking to the one that was further away, Quite the hike from barefoot beach but still enjoyable. i wish they had made it a little clearer that the straw market only took cash i was bummed about not having the ability to pick up some of the neat things i saw.

  5. The site has been an amazing research tool and has allowed me to find answers to every questions i have had yet.

I will say the boards have made me a bit nervous as it seems like a great majority of cruisers do not like kids around them (we have three) and i am also a bit worried about the general additude of some cruisers i am very very laid back. and it seems like a lot of people get mad over the most silly things. I Personally think i may be a little to blue collar to ever be a real "cruiser" but our family is gonna happily give it a shot...

  6. My DW and DD's signed up for the Blue lagoon Dolphin excursion and i wanted to go and watch (which means i need to buy the observers pass)

While booking RCCL told us that we would have to buy the observers pass on the boat"if they have any left", now we are very concerned that i may not be able to attend the excursion if the Observer passes sell out.

Does anyone have any experience with this excursion or anything similar?

  7. Just before putting DS down to sleep we gave him a bath. Last time we cruised I brought an inflatable Sesame Street tub with a suction hook. It worked great. I had planned to bring the same one along until my mom found a collapsible tub at BJ's (like Costco if you don't have them near you) the day before our trip.

It is a Summer Infant Newborn to Toddler Fold Away Tub. Pictured below.

I liked it better because I did not have to blow anything up! It folds in half. The downside is that it does take up a lot more room than the inflatable. On our next cruise I will most likely bring the inflatable again because we have to fly in to Boston and I don't want to sacrifice precious luggage space! But because we drove to this cruise we were not as worried about space.

    Last Cruise- Inflatable

Now, on our last cruise we had used the inflatable as a pool for DS. It was great for him to get in some splash time. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling with a child who can't yet go in the big pools or splash areas due to being in diapers.

On this cruise we had planned to do the same thing. We never ended up going to the pool. It just didn't happen on this trip between the weather in Nassau and having a sea day (crowded pool deck), I'm okay with it though!

Hello, thank you for the great review? i have a few questions about the baby pool did you have to ask permission? and how did you get it filled up?

    Thanks

  8. Hello, Everyone.

I was wondering how one gets from the port at Nassau to the Paradise island ferry terminal( we will be going to Blue lagoon).

    a few questions

    cost?

    Land based vs water based?

do they have or do i need to supply Car seats for toddlers?

Thank you all for your help.

  9. I've encountered MANY more rude and obnoxious adults on cruises than I have screaming toddlers. The elderly curmudgeon who ran over my 13-year-old's feet with his motorized scooter, turned around and gave him a dirty look and kept driving without even an "Excuse me", the fat cow who shoved my 10-year-old to daughter to get in front of her in the Windjammer, and on and on and on. Screaming toddlers are the least of my cruise worries. I'll take a crying baby ANY DAY over someone who should know better.

My kids are no angels but they know how to behave when it is called for.

I can say with no reservations that if someone where to do those things to any of my kids they would find themselves to be having a very bad day.

***Also as a soon to be cruiser with a toddler. thank you to everyone who has given such great advice so far.

  10. I would absolutely book this room again. Great location by the stairs and elevator, so it is convenient but we NEVER heard foot traffic and I'm a light sleeper. My boys loved the pullman beds and slept like rocks. I hit my head a few times, so that was a pain, but I loved that my kids each had their own space. They wouldn't have slept as well sharing a pull out.

Great to hear. This is our first cruise so we are pretty excited the more i hear the more i am sure we made a good choice in Vacation.

  11. I was on this sailing as well, so perhaps I'll add my $.02 to your question.

We did check out Adventure Ocean. My 9 and 10 year olds went the first day at sea in the morning and had a great time. They met some buddies and hung with them the rest of the cruise. My kids ASKED if they could go to AO a couple of times, too, and of course we said yes. We gave them sign in/sign out privileges because lines to pick up were LONG!

I thought most of the staff was very friendly. A few were less so.

Our stateroom was 2098 and it was very quiet. Great location.

We did nothing in Port Canaveral. Stayed on the ship since we've been there many times before. My kids played in the pool with buddies they'd met the day before and we just relaxed around the pool deck soaking in the sun.

How was your room? we are scheduled in the same room for our sailing in November.and i am very curious about the Pullman beds.

ALSO big thank you to OP for posting all the great Compass Pictures.

  12. Cruising with toddler (Drink Questions)

This made me laugh! I have teenagers now, but if I was cruising with a toddler I think I would have drinking questions too! (Where is the nearest bar?)

Please don't be offended, I love children but as they get more independent it is truly wonderful!

not offended at all we are also traveling with my 13 year old DD and our 11 year old DD. The plan is for our 13 year DD to watch our 1 year old DD sometimes so we can explorer other "drink options" lol

  13. Have a few Questions so please bear with me

How available will drinks be for our 14 month old when we cruise. are things like milk and juice (for a child) included or extra, If we do need to purchase a package does the soda package have offerings like HI C.and what level package would have apple juice and milk?

Will they come down on us for filling a sippy cup up with a juice drink or bottled water from a higher package(that me or my wife purchased)?

Have people encountered a lot of trouble with bringing on board a case of water or a bottle of juicy juice. from the Baltimore port?

We are sailing on the Grandeur in November and are trying to figure out what is what as we are a first time cruising family of five.

    Thank you
