  1. On the Solstice now and there are four bikes. Pre-sailing I was told I couldn't get one in the room due to the recall, but I didn't ask when I was onboard and have just been going to the gym.  Two of the bikes have a stripped seat post adjustment knob and can't be adjusted, but they are all rarely used, so I haven't had a problem using them.

How does Peloton usage on ship work?   Do you need to log into your home acct or does the ship run an account?  I’d bring my own spin shoes. Do they run it as a group class or can you do on own?

The login screen for commercial accounts is a bit different. You scan the QR code on the screen with your phone and then confirm the login on the Peloton app. If you don't have wifi access then you can type in your username and password to log in.

  2. @doghog Were the bikes on the ship when you went?  I have an upcoming sailing in a suite where I've previously requested a bike in the room. When I requested it this time I was informed by the concierge that the bikes had been removed due to a recall (likely the seat post recall)

  3. Additional notes:

    • S-class ships have an allocation of two bikes per ship. They will go to the penthouse suites first, but can also be used in the Royal or Celebrity suites. I was told there isn't a very high volume of requests and if I booked a Royal or Celebrity suite in the future I'd likely be able to get one, but only if the two Penthouse suites didn't request them.
    • Bring a water bottle - I was always worried I would drop the glass bottles they provide in the room
    • The bearings on this bike are about to go out (common on Pelotons).  It is an easy DIY fix, but the resistance on this one feels about 5 points higher than my recently calibrated bike at home.
  4. I had a Peloton bike in the Penthouse suite on the S-Class. Here are a few things to know:

    • I requested the bike via the shoreside concierge. They knew exactly what I was talking about, so perhaps its a common request now.
    • Mine was a Gen2 Bike
    • Pedals were dual purpose with cages on one side and SPD clips on the other. You will need different cleats if you use the Delta clips
    • You will have to log into the bike for every workout. Mine was an older software version, so I did an update. The latest version allows you to scan a QR code on your phone and then it logs you in via the Peloton app. This was much quicker than logging in on the keyboard each time
    • It needs power, so the only real place to set it up is going to be next to the piano. This still allows for plenty of room and a nice view out the window.
    • The rear feet of the bike  weren't adjustable (maybe this is how Gen2 bikes are?) and were uneven, so I folded up the daily newsletter and placed it under one of the rear feet to balance the bike
    • The bike does not count as one of your internet devices, and connected to the network automatically
    • Using the new Starlink internet I had just a few freezes on the video the first day, none the second day (on the second day now - sea day)

Overall it has been a great experience and I really enjoyed watching the waves roll by while getting in a good workout.

    General Comments (offer details, etc.)

Seems expensive, but the only retreat level rooms left are sky suites (which I'm already booked in) or 3 Edge Villa suites.   $7k total extra for the Edge Villa isn't worth it to me, so I probably won't get anything unless people in a Royal upgrade to Edge Villa.

  5. Hello!

I’ve been on 20 or so cruises (typically on NCL, RC, Carnival), but not in quite some time and never on Celebrity.  I’ve done a ton of reading, but hoping anyone could help with a few specific/recent questions.   I am booked on:

Celebrity Apex – Sky Suite (12 nights)

Celebrity Eclipse – Penthouse Suite (13 nights)

    My questions are:

    -          Drinks:   I think that everything is included with what I booked, so I should just ignore the premium drink packages that are offered in the pre-cruise planning?   I am confused as to why they are offering this if it is already included. We don't drink that much if that matters.

    -          Specialty dining:  I don’t think this is included in my rooms, but we would probably go every other night (typically on the sea days).   If I book the multi-night package in advance then can I make reservations?

    -          Tips:  I know Celebrity says tips are included, but outside of that who should I tip and how much given the room I have?

    -          Private shore excursions:  In the past I’ve typically booked private excursions for the two of us.  I saw Celebrity has a program where they can book for you.   Is this worthwhile?  I wouldn’t mind paying a more for convenience, but probably am comfortable with 35% more rather than booking something local.

    -          Are masks still required in the gym?  (both of us are triple vaxxed if that matters -  not working out for 2 weeks would be a big concern for me)

Thank you!   We're looking forward to our first trip with Celebrity!

  6. I'm not sure if anyone from Celebrity reads these boards, but the whole point of a "Call Me" feature is for you to call me back when the support reps have the proper amount of time to deal with an issue.   I've been trying to get a few issues with Celebrity resolved and have spent more than 4 hours on hold this week.   Today I clicked "Call Me" and was immediately called, only to be put again on hold for 45 minutes at which point I gave up and disconnected.

  7. I was really hoping this one would happen, but I think the cancelation was inevitable.   I had some questions in case anyone knows...

    - If I paid the full cruise fare then will my FCC be 125% of the full fare or just the initial deposit?

    - If I choose to use FCC on the HK to SIN cruises in Dec and they get cancelled as well, then can I get full fare * 125% * 125%?

    - How long are discounts taking to process?

  8. Hi everyone - I'm taking my first cruise in 10 years - I've been on a bunch, but I know a few things have changed and perhaps could use some tips.   Specifically...

Sailing May 5th from Barcelona on a 7 day Med cruise on Oasis in a crown loft suite - thanks for all of the updates on the ship from the repairs!

    • How do I know if my cruise has a formal night(s)?  I don't see anything on the calendar and don't want to bring a suit that I'd never wear if there isn't a formal night.
    • Tipping
      • I am doing the pre-paid tips
      • Will give a bit more to the cabin crew in cash
      • Tip for drinks in the Suite lounge in cash?   Is USD ok, or should I go with EUR?
      • We are doing specialty dining on most nights - I dont think we'll ever go to the main dining room.  I know my tips under the pre-paid plan go there, but I assume nothing else is needed and we will tip for dining at each meal?
    • Entertainment
      • It looks like they save seats for the suites, so should I just cancel my reservations and we can go when we want?
    • Has anything else really changed in the last 10 years that I need to know about?

Just got word that our Aqua Theatre show that we pre-purchased tickets for, has been moved from day 2 to day 7. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but we should all be careful of getting our hopes up too high just yet.

Same here, though day four to day seven.   It doesn't really make a difference for me though even if that theatre is out of order.

  10. Think that is the time frame that Ovation is sailing out of China.

If I recall, the program is only valid on sailings from Sydney.

Yes, the person I spoke to on the phone mentioned that it did not apply to China based sailings, but the cruise I want to book leaves from Sydney and goes to New Zealand and back to Sydney with no stops in China, and that warning is still displaying on the one I want to book.

Part of me thinks they just haven't updated the text to include a sailing in late 2017 out of Sydney, but this is quite an expensive purchase for me, so I want to be sure.

  11. Hello,

I am in the process of booking a Star Class suite on Ovation for a late 2017 sailing and one of the reasons I decided to book the Star Class was the Royal Suite Class Program.

On the RCCL website I notice the following text:

Discover luxury accommodations that are more than just beautiful spaces. Royal Suite Class is a tiered suites program that redefines luxury with enhancements designed to elevate every aspect of your vacation. From exclusive experiences, like the suites-only Coastal Kitchen, to inclusive amenities, like complimentary VOOM high speed Internet. PLEASE NOTE: The Royal Suite Class Program is only applicable for sailings between 4/14/2016 through 5/26/16 and on sailings between 11/30/16 through 1/23/17.

I called RCCL to inquire as to what this meant, and the person I spoke with said the program was changing and that some items were being removed from the program (i.e. internet, speciality restaurants, drink package - basically the things I valued).

I'm now reconsidering whether it is worth it to pay so much more for the Star Class cabin and whether I should just book a standard balcony or even look at a different line that has a similar trip.

Does anyone have the details / comparison as to the old vs new program?
