  1. Wow, there is a lot of vitriol here. Out of eight people, six adults had the all you can drink package. The two children had the all you can drink soft drink package, although they always stick to juice and water. I came to ask a simple question. We also don't "share" drinks. We were not trying to cheat the system. We bought what we thought was all inclusive 14 months before sailing, once we were on board, it wasn't the case. We didn't have a "cow" about it. We still had a great cruise, but there was definitely confusion when I asked what specific drinks were included in the 15 drink max and what wasn't. I should have read the fine print lesson learned. Yes, our family likes to drink. I really wasn't looking for any judgements about our lifestyle. There were some people on this thread that really did post some helpful info. There were also plenty that did not. I don't post a lot because I feel the search function more than answers most of my questions. I'm not sure I will be posting again because I feel this group can really jump on the bullying bandwagon.

  2. Thanks for responses. Live and learn. I wish they would state "Princess Cruises may modify, amend, or update the terms and conditions of our beverage packages at any time with or without notice to guests." on the booking confirmation we received. I also wish we had been given a heads up in terms of an email or mailer as to when our package was changed. Per some of our bartenders, the boat made the switch from "unlimited" to "premium" two months prior to our departure. Also, I wish we had been told accurate information about the beverage package by Reception. I will make sure I look long and hard for that fine print for our next family cruise - although it definitely won't be with Princess. ;p Thanks again to those responses that were helpful.

  3. The 15 drink limit is only for alcoholic beverages. All of the other times are unlimited.

You're not saying that they refused you fountain drinks because of the 15 drink limit are you??

I was told by reception that the "Premium" package which we had, had a 15 drink max that included soft drinks, coffee, bottled water and alcohol. I asked specifically if the 15 drink max only pertained to alcohol or if the drink max included coffee, soft drinks and bottle water. The person at reception said it included everything not just alcohol. We were never denied soft drinks as we only drank them in the afternoon. We definitely were denied bottle water at the end of the night because of our 15 max limit.

  4. Hi Everyone, my family of 8 just recently sailed with Princess for the second time. Our cruise was last month and when we got our deposit confirmation, we had, in writing, that we had the SIP and SAIL promotion that came with an option of the "free all inclusive beverage package." This was July 4th, 2017 and our sail date was August 11, 2018. When we got on the boat, we were told by Reception that our "Free all inclusive beverage package" was now a "Premium" beverage package with drinks being capped at 15 per day. We were told this included coffee, water and soft drinks. I really feel this is a bait and switch. Members of my family hit their drink limit every day. I feel selling someone an "unlimited" drink package and then once on the boat, switching the package is a case of fraud. Do you think I have any recourse in this situation? During the cruise, I complained to reception but it did not get me anywhere. I didn't even think to show them the printed out deposit we had stating that we had the unlimited drink package. I also wrote to customer service through the online survey post cruise and have not heard anything. We will probably not sail Princess again. Any words of encouragement? Or is this just a lesson learned?

  5. Hi Everyone!

We are taking the Sapphire out of Southampton in August for a cruise to Norway. One of my family members wants to work remotely. I've seen the internet prices on the Princess website, but was looking for people who have had some experience with using it particularly on the days at sea. Is it very difficult? Are there some areas of the boat which get a signal better than others? Thanks so much for your input!

  6. Hello everyone! My family and I will be taking a Princess cruise out of Southampton on Aug 11 and then visiting Stavanger, Olden, Hellesylt and Geiranger, and finally Bergen. One of my family members will still be attempting to work remotely while on our cruise. Can anyone give any insight into cell and data coverage as well as WiFi while on the boat and while in Port? He has AT&T. Can anyone recommend any bars or restaurants with WiFi? We are definitely going to purchase an internet plan from Princess to cover the days at sea, but truly I would be greatful for any information. Thanks everyone! 😊

  7. Hi everyone! We are taking a round trip cruise out of Southampton to Norway from Saturday, August 11 to Saturday, August 18. We will be flying back to the US on the 18th after disembarking in Southampton. Some of my family will be flying out of Gatwick and some of us out of Heathrow. What time do you think would be earliest you would book an international return flight? The itinerary says we arrive in Southampton at 7 am. For those of us traveling out of Heathrow there is a flight that leaves at 12:15 pm and then 4:40 pm. For my family flying out of Gatwick, is it too ambitious to try to make a 1:25 pm flight? We have no problem with walking off with our luggage or taking private transportation. Thank you!

  8. Hi Everyone! My family and I are about to take our first cruise ever and we are so pumped! My parents are also going and have not been on a cruise in about 30 years. We are going on Princess Crown round trip out of Seattle. My father works remotely so is concerned about his AT&T coverage. I've read a lot on these threads regarding coverage, when you are or are not in roaming, charges, etc. He spoke with an AT&T rep today and here is a recap of what the rep said:

"AT&T does not have a special cruise ship package. They suggest turning off the cellular data feature on your phone when you get on the ship so that you do not get charged expensive roaming fees.

With the cellular data turned off, you can still get calls when accessing cruise WiFi, but calls are charged at two dollars per minute.

When on land in Alaska, your standard ATT domestic package works. Thus, you can turn on cellular data and phone. However, this does not apply until you are actually on land. Thus, if boat is docked in Alaska, still need to keep cellular data off as it is the cruise's system that applies.

They said to check with Princess to see if they have any special talk or text plans (other than the Internet package, which allows you to check emails)."

So for all you Alaska veterans out there, is this data accurate? I assume that the expensive roaming fees the rep was speaking about was roaming you pick up from the actual ship? Did all of you wait to turn on your phones until you set foot on dry land? Thanks so much!

  9. Hello friends! We are going to take an Alaskan cruise next year and we in between the Crown Princess which will go thru Glacier Bay or Celebrity Solstice which will go to Tracy Fjord. I would love to hear others opinions on it. It will be my husband and I and our two small children, my parents and my two siblings. My parents and siblings have not been on a cruise in 25 years and it will be our first time to Alaska. Thanks!
