  1. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

We leave Tampa on Monday, April 15>>>Key West>>.Cozumel>>.Return to Tampa on Saturday, April 20.

My kids passports were issues Sept 3, 2014, and are valid for 5 years so they each expire on Sept 3, 2019- about 4.5 months from the last day of our cruise.

  2. Hello all-

We have a cruise planned in April out of Tampa to the Caribbean and Mexico.   According to the Department of State website, you need to have at least 6 months left on your passport from the last day of your planned travel.   My wife and I are fine as ours don't expire for a few years, but my 2 kids will each have roughly 5 months of time left on their passports when we go.   Do you think we need to get them new ones since they won't have the required 6 months time left?  Or will they let it slide since ours are ok and theirs will only be off by a month of what is required?   Seems like it's not worth taking the chance but wanted to ask the opinion of others.  Thank you

  3. I feel like I need to do more homework on types of drinks...I apparently know nothing because I haven't heard of 99% of these...I am a boring drinker lol....

Me as well....I printed the long list that was in one of the threads and will keep that in my back pocket for my cruise as a cheat sheet to try new and different drinks! Can't wait! 27 days and counting!!!

  4. On Oasis class ships, there's a Sabor Bar close to the restaurant, so no problems there. However, I don't know how it would work on ships with the restaurant only, such as Navigator, Liberty, and Freedom.

Bob- Closing in on 100,000 posts. Amazing. Thanks for your contributions to this wonderful community!

OK. We're on Freedom in a couple weeks.....would love to be able to stop in and enjoy one of their cocktails....

  6. So we are on Freedom of the Seas the week of April 9th for 6 nights- we're super excited about this cruise and want to board as early as we possibly can. We have a Jr Suite and I've read that you can possibly board earlier if you have a suite? Any insight on how early we'll be able to board is appreciated. Thank you!

  7. I read somewhere that if you have the Ultimate Drink package that it does not include alcoholic drinks that you get as part of room service. I get that.

I also read it doesn't include drinks that you get while you are at the pool? Does that make sense? I was really looking forward to sitting by the pool and ordering drinks...

Any clarification on this subject would be much appreciated...

  8. So I originally wanted to Jet Ski when our cruise stops in St Maarten, but since I also have other things I want to do there and since time is limited, I thought it best to move the Jet Skiing to St Thomas since I don't have much lined up while we are there. We are on a Royal Caribbean cruise in early December- from where we will dock, is there an option to Jet Ski somewhat close by???

    Thanks!!

  9. So we are on a Royal Caribbean Cruise (Allure of the Seas) in early December. We're trying to decide whether it is worth it to get off in Nassau or not and would love some input. Here are a few things we are considering as part of that decision...

    - This is our first cruise ever

    - We depart FLL 4:30 on Sunday and will have a late night on Sunday (dinner and a late show)- we get to Nassau at 7:00 am on Monday. Pretty early after a late night. I think we are there from 7:00 - 2:00.

    - I haven't heard the best things about Nassau

    - We bought the drink package- not that we're going to stay on the boat just to drink...but just something to consider..

    So...Nassau....your thoughts?

    Thanks

  10. Thanks so much to this wonderful community of people for all teh feedback we have received- we are on Allure the week of Dec 7th for our first cruise ever!

My question today is around the dress code in the main dining room.

How laid back are the non-formal night? Am I correct in saying no shorts is a good rule of thumb but that jeans are ok? Sandals/jeans/nice polo shirt? Sundress or jeans for the ladies? What will "most" people be wearing?

What about the formal nights? Minimum shirt/tie/jacket? I have 2 brothers of mine going and they are going to be hard pressed to meet the minimum dress requiements for the formal nights. What would be a minimum on formal nights? I guess they would get turned away if they don't meet the minimum dress code? Same thing for formal night...what will "most" people be wearing?

    Thanks for the feedback!!

  11. Cheapo ones don't work very well through the ships steel structure. If you want to try, go right ahead, but don't be too disappointed if they don't work great.

I've read some reviews on Amazon for a pair of Motorola Walkie Talkies- $44 for 2. I've seen a few 5 star reviews specifically from people that bought them to go on a cruise. I get that there is still risk involved....

  12. I see that it has been not been stated yet so I"ll be the first ;

They will annoy your fellow passengers .

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

I think we're going to give them a try.....being our first cruise we need a way to keep in touch....and being amateurs it will be tough for us to come up with a plan before we board

I promise we we will do everything we can to not disturb others...

  13. So there's a discussion amongst the group that I am going with about getting walkie talkies to keep in touch. Is this helpful?

    There's a bunch of people gong....us...our kids...my parents/wifes parents...brothers etc etc....

    We're on Allure in December...

I think RCC offers something that you can use for the week (iphone like device?) but I think it's $20 and for that you can just buy a walkie talkie....

Also, with something like 4,000 people on the boat and only 22 channels on the average walkie talkie I could see how there could be interference if others chose to get them....

    ?

    Thanks

  14. We are on Allure of the Seas in December...So I'm a big fan of exercise DVD's- things like P90X or Insanity. Is there an exercise area that has a TV with DVD player where something like this would be possible? I'm guessing not?

What do the vast majority of people do for exercise? Are there group classes? Boot camp like stuff?

    I know there's a track....I'm just not much of a runner...

    Thanks

  15. I was on the Allure and we made MTD dinner reservations on the website before the cruise. We had the same dining team and never had a wait. I talked to others who walked in without reservations and some said they had a 10 minute wait or so for a table. I did not notice long lines for dinner, but I did not stand around and watch, I just noticed when we were coming and going. There were two separate lines for those with reservations and those without.

You can make reservations on your TV each day or just walk up. There are screens by the dining room that show the occupancy of the various dining venues so you have an idea of how crowded they are.

I never had a problem making dining reservations in specialty restaurants either. One night in Chops I took a reservation for the same night that was 1/2 hour later that what I requested. The ship never felt crowded and I did not have any problem with dining. Have a great cruise.

Thanks for taking the time to respond- great feedback!

  16. To the OP, what ship are you sailing? The dining answers will depend on the ship.

For the drink package, if you are only going to have a few drinks a night then it is probably not worth it to buy a package. I get the ultimate package and drink a lot of specialty coffees and water in addition to alcohol. For me it is worth it to know it is paid for before the cruise.

We are on Allure the week of Dec 7th....

  17. You can call. You can have a standing reservation. You can visit the podium during set hours. You can reserve online. If you just show up without a reservation there may be a wait.

If I wait until the day of to book dinner reservations every night is it unrealistic of me to think I can get a decent time? What do you do?
