  1. hello everyone, just making an inquiry. It’s our 40th wedding anniversary next year and we want to visit Hawaii. We are in Perth, Western Australia. The thing is we’re not sure if it’s better to go from Sydney to Hawaii or Hawaii to Sydney. We are able to go at both times of the year.

    What I’d like to know is when is the weather best in Hawaii? Is there a high season, when it would be more crowded there?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks in advance :cool::cool::cool:

  2. hi everyone,

    Im from Australia, where tipping is not the norm. You get a decent wage wherever you work (mostly).

    I will tip if I get good service, but Im a bit confused about the forced gratuities practice on cruises.

    I was told on my last cruise by our steward, while the ship is in Australian & New Zealand waters that they get the award rate.

    I guess thats why a lot of ships cruising our waters have taken the gratuities off, a lot of Aussies buck against forced tipping as we see tipping as given for a job well done.

    Why dont the cruise lines just add the gratuities in the price of the cruise, then no one would get upset about them. Also, what happens when the cruise advertises free gratuities? Who pays for them, or do the staff not get them?

    Why cant the cruise lines just give these workers a fair deal?.....Im confused

    :confused: ;) :)

  3. First time on Emerald Princess, we are avid ballroom & rock n roll dancers, are there any good dance floors on this ship to dance?

    I see there's a disco, but as on other cruises, find this is only usually for techno, jumping around type dancing.....unless they do a 50's or 60's theme night.

    QM2 had the biggest best ballroom on any ship we've been on, but even in our late 50's early 60's we are way too young to ever go on that ship again

  5. Thanks for all the replies, I rang princess and asked them, just wanted to go from starboard to Portside...they said because I got such an incredibly low price, no changes whatsoever. I di ask what was the difference going from one side to another, but they wouldn't budge, they said NO CHANGES.

    oh well it was worth a try, just can't understand why not, I didn't want to downgrade or anything.

  6. Hi everyone, I'm new to posting, but not to cruising.

    Does anyone know if it would cost me to change cabins, same deck, same category?

    I got the cruise at a ridiculously low price, but I picked the cabin on the other side to all my friends. I've checked the princess site & it's still available.

    I got an email from a cruise "helper" , but she says I would have to pay full price if I changed.

    Would it be worth contacting the line directly, anyone done this. I really want to be on the other side if possible. Thanks

    :cool::confused:
