    That map is helpful.

We took a pulmonia from El Shrimp Bucket to the Hotel Playa Mazatlan which is a distance of 7km and we paid 160 pesos.

The distance from the Marina Mazatlan to the Plaza Machado (Mazatlan Centro) is a distance of 12 km.  So, I would expect to pay around 300 pesos.

Then I would estimate the cost of a pulmonia from Mazatlan Centro to the cruiseport to be 100-150 pesos.

Would we need to bring pesos for a pulmonia?

Yes, we did use Baikas Bike Rentals.  We just walked from the cruise ship -- it's about a mile walk.  You can check Google Maps for directions before you go or ask one of the Ex-Pat Volunteers (blue shirts) that you'll see when you get off the ship.  Basically, you head to the Malecon (sidewalk along the beach) and follow it to Baikas.

You could also take a pulmonia (golf-cart type vehicle) from the ship to Baikas.  We did this after our Segway tour and the cost was, I think, about 150 pesos (under $8).  That was really more than the trip was worth, but we were tired after a day on foot and Segway in Mazatlan.

Thank you so much!  I just emailed them to see if they are open on Christmas Day (when we're in port).  Sure hope they are!  This sounds really fun and they have great reviews.  :)

  3. I have to second what trvlqueen said. We just used the service right at the port when we came back on the Dream this past Sunday and it worked great.

I think they go by the name "Advance Check-in." They're really easy to find --- with a big sign right above their booth that says Luggage Storage or something like that. It looks like you can make reservations for the service on their website, but you don't need to. We just walked right up and were taken care of.

Our flight home wasn't until 3:45PM so we checked our luggage in with them and they took it to the airport while we shopped in the RiverWalk mall and toured the French Quarter (an easy walk from the port).

They also have a partnership with KLM airport transport service to pick you up in the French Quarter and shuttle you to the airport if you'd like. They picked us up at Cafe du Monde around 1:00, which was plenty of time to get to the airport, get our luggage, get checked in, etc. They were right on time and even called us when they were about 45 minutes away to confirm our meeting time and place. Very nice.

    The pricing was:

$40 for up to 4 bags to be held and transferred to the airport.

$14/pp for the shuttle from the French Quarter to the airport.

When we got to the airport, they just dropped us off in baggage claim, where we met a rep there who brought us our luggage. Easy peasy and I'm so glad we didn't have to sit in the airport for hours!

  4. We are on the Dream in December out of New Orleans. We are looking at a flight home on disembarking day that doesn't leave until about 7pm. We don't want to go directly from the ship to the airport and sit there all day but we also don't want to sight see with our luggage. Is there anywhere we could store our luggage at the Carnival port for a few hours before we head to the airport?

We have the same situation, so I have been doing some research and I found the following on the Port of NO website:

    Baggage Transfer Services

Rush It Courier Service operates a baggage transfer service at the cruise terminals that will deliver your baggage from the terminal to the airport. This is a perfect service for those that have later flights and want to enjoy the sights of the City after the cruise and before departing for home. A great way to extend the vacation. We are also working on a system to deliver bags from the airport to the cruise terminal on arrival, to allow those early arrivals to start their vacations early. For more information and rates, call (504) 471-0080.

After doing some Googling, I have found that "Rush It Courier Service" also goes by "Advance Checkin" and they have a website here. Looks like you can either store your bags there at the terminal while you go touring, or you can have them deliver the bags to the airport for you, for a bit more money.

If you search for Advance Check in or Rush It Courier, lots of CruiseCritic threads come up. You'll find a lot of positive reviews and some not-so positive ones. I really don't want to lug my stuff around while we see the sites so I'm probably going to take the risk and give them a try.

    Hope that helps! :)
