  1. Seriously?

    They have a small child.

Its breakfast time and more casual than dinner.

If they discreetly put some Cheerios in a bag is everyone going to faint from the uncouthness of it all?

I think people can handle it without a lot of drama. But then again, given your reply, maybe not.

Edited to add: I just read your other posts; that explains it. Welcome to Cruise critic posting. I am heading to the kitchen to make some popcorn.

PS: I did note the CC name.

Do as you like however know that some will look down at the person and shake their head. What happened to the days when cruising was about elegance and class?

  2. Sorry but RC ships MDR dinners are like apple bees quality to me, I dine at 4/5 star restaurants often so I am able to compare what we actually get on the ship to what a 4/5 star restaurant serves.

    Carnival is Chili's.

On another note if a person eats a lot of fast food stuff they would think what they get in the MDR be gourmet.

Now you know why we only eat at specialty restaurants on cruises now, we want to pay extra money to get better quality/selection/variety, whats a few more dollars, it all boils down you get what you pay for.

I normally eat dinner in the specialty resturants myself to avoid the riff raff, I do eat at Michelin star restaurants and relay chateaus. But i do think you are being a tad bit unfair comparing it to applebees.

  3. You can also take individual cereal boxes from the Windjammer (during breakfast hours) for snacks later in the day, if she likes those. As I remember they have bulk cereal available in the Main Dining Room at breakfast too. If you bring zip bags I don't think they would mind if you bring a bowl back to your table and discreetly fill the baggies there.

I find that on some cruises Cheerios run low later in the cruise, stock up early if that is her preference or ask a crew member if there are more.

fill baggies from the dining area??? oh my heavens

  4. Nice clothes = Good manners ?? since when? I've seen plenty of 'people' (what's with the quotes?) dressed up on formal night and their manners were no better than anyone else. The clothes do not make the man.

this is true however from my experience it has been mostly the poorly dressed sorts that have bad table manners , you know the sort, they are loud sneeze all over and stuff rolls in their pockets for later. smh

  5. I have to say not a large formal dining room but maybe a supper club where they have mandatory formal dress codes. Perhaps the size just like Chops would be sufficient and maybe a charge a fee so the food is more upscale than what you get in the MDR because if your dressing up you deserve better quality food.

Well if there is a charge then it would defeat the purpose, as you can go to the specialty restaurants if you wish. I like the idea of a small chops size or slightly bigger Formal MDR for those of us that like to dine with a certain elegance

  6. The OP asked if it was allowed, fair enough it is allowed. Now just because its allowed does not mean its appropriate. One expects a certain amount of social grace and elegance on a formal night, if you are dressed like a slob and have poor table manners i suggest those people go have fun at the buffet. Some of us will be wearing suits and tux's and do not want to eat with such people around.
