  1. We like to do b2b cruises. My TA (outside travel agency) and the CN folks onboard tell me that we absolutely CANNOT use their BOGO airfare with b2b cruises.

But here on CC I read multiple accounts of people buying one way BOGO airfare - such as a Transatlantic that departs from their hometown, but requires a flight back from Europe.

Or people doing b2b cruises and only buying BOGO airfare one way for first and last cruise leg.

Can anyone provide a link or someone I can contact at NCL? Again, my TA says you cannot buy oneway BOGO airfare for b2b cruises, but if I call NCL they won’t talk to be since cruise was booked through an outside TA.

Any yes, I know routing etc is totally out of my hands. We just want to take advantage of their very attractive BOGO rates for far away cruises of 2-3 b2b itineraries.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Whole town of Lahaina burned according to reports. Those poor people!!!

I hope NCL does help with relief efforts. Would gladly chip in.

We are on NCL Spirit B2B (from Alaska to Tahiti) that circles Hawaii twice Sept 11-19, 2023.

That is a month away but I wonder if NCL Spirit and POA will avoid port to allow Maui time to try to recover from this tragedy???

  3. Hello all! So excited to have just been assigned Cabin VE 7122 on the Nieuw Amsterdam southbound Alaska cruise departing May 28. We had a balcony guarantee and are happy with this assignment as it has the plexiglass clear balcony railing.

Does anyone have any idea what is contained in the area directly across the hall from this cabin? I am assuming it’s a storage area.

We are starting our adventure with Hal’s train trip and 2 nights in Denali. (Actually we arrive a day early and have RT train to Seward with a whale watching cruise booked. This is after an eight hour layover in Chicago where we are going to take the train into town and do an architectural tour and hopefully see Chonkosauras the massive, snapping turtle that lives in Chicago!)

This is our first time cruising on Holland America, so any tips or tricks would be much appreciated! We have previously cruised with Norwegian, Celebrity, and Carnival. We have orange shirts packed.

    Thanks so much in advance!

Our first balcony was on the Solstice - 9292.

Spoiled us forever.  Mid-ship, biggest balcony, rear facing.

Some folks that don't like them say that is like being in a tunnel.

    I didn't think so.

Thanks - looking at that exact location or almost all the way aft 1194.

Leaving LA to Mexico does port side provide a coastal view/twinkling lights that first evening?

  5. Hump balconies - better than ‘on the slant”!

So consensus is avoid the orange, blue is good, green is great with largest balconies. Did I get greens right place?

Anyone actually stayed in red 1194 at rear or equivalent? It looks intriguing!

We considered an aft balcony but decided they weren’t very private on this ship.

    Thanks for advice!

  6. Looking to book a deluxe veranda on decks six through eight or prime concierge balcony cabin on decks nine through twelve on Celebrity Eclipse.

These are mostly cabins with “slanted’ balconies such as these on starboard side of deck 10:

    1044

    1046

    1106

    1108

    1120

    1122

    1124

    1126

    1194

Any advice as to which to pick or avoid? (Stbd or port side, decks 8-12, have similar in same locations.) Any info about size, privacy, views, etc, appreciated.

Big concern is if a forward face of the slant such as 1044 or 1106 or 1194 are “windy’ when underway like a forward balcony/standing at the bow???

    Thank you in advance!

  7. I booked an obstructed view cabin on deck 8 on the Pearl to Alaska a few years back and was very happy with it.

Booking a cruise this fall on the similar Gem. Does anyone have an opinion on which obstructed view cabins have the better layouts? I was in 8568 or similar but now looking at the longer front to back cabins 8590 and up.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  8. Thanks so much for the replies! I emailed both dive shops but never heard back so I think we are leaning towards the dry suit snorkel at Sitka. (Well worth another $20 vs the other wetsuit snorkel offered!)

I think we will do the Yukon to Emerald lake trip in Skagway.

  9. Hello:

My DH and I are booked on the May 8 NCL Pearl with the usual stops plus Sitka and Icy Point Straight. This is his first cruise and a surprise that he will finally find out about this Friday!

Any tips for do it yourself hikes greatly appreciated!

I would also love to be able to scuba dive one day but have not found anything on the web. (My research abilities have been hampered by trying to keep this a secret!) I saw wet and dry suit snorkeling - anyone know of a dive outfit at any of our ports?

We do plan to kayak one day - any suggestions for best wild-life viewing are welcome!

Airplanes, helicopters, and dog-sledding all sound enticing but are outside of our budget. Will the train in Skagway be a good splurge or is it likely to be too early in the season?

    Thanks so much!
