If the cabin is going to waste I wonder if you could switch two names like your mom and you so if they don't go you become solo in that cabin so you get double points.  Once on board just get a second key for your original cabin and stay where you planned to.

The people above are telling the truth...… you cannot switch 2 names. The person that mentioned leaving dad's name on there and putting one of the other people going in mom's place is the route to go...… or if you need whatever money

you can get, cancel the whole cabin and at least get back some of the $$$.

  2. Yupper…….. I did see that, but I truly appreciate you making sure I didn't miss it. I also

like the FF discount (ya right)  A bellman could have quite the racquet "renting" his closet

out at whatever hotel he's at.....minimal amount of work to get paid to store somebody's

luggage...… Thanks again for more follow up. I googled companies that would get us from ship to 911 to the airport and they're like non existent…… I'll keep "shopping"

  3. well that's strange...…. I sent that last reply about an hour ago and it shows sent like

8 mins ago.  So tour companies doesn't sound too promising I guess. I see the baggage

place charges by the hour ($2.50/bag/per Hr)

Here's a thought that just came to mind...… Don't some of the cruise lines offer a "luggage

mailing service" ? They take your suitcases off the ship and get them to the airport and the next time you see your bags is when you land the last time.

  4. wow.....more good info.....much appreciated...… I can drive any of those.....Hertz got a deal on those trucks? I'll even ride the tailboard {<:   I guess I live in a sheltered world...… tax AND a tip at a parking lot ???? WOW

The cruise line we thought was going to be the ticket, but all they do is apparently drive by the memorial......I don't think so..…. I want in !  It sounded good at 1st until I read the fine print about not actually stopping there for awhile.

So many decisions to make. I've never done Uber to Lyft, but I thought there claim to fame was when you go from point A to point B, it's X amount of money no matter what route and how much time it takes.

p.s...… as of now, we only want to see the 911 memorial because I'm told to do it right it takes a couple hours, and that's about what we got by time we jump through all the hoops

  5. Thank you very much mking8288...… I love all the options.....especially the "let me help you out

and get your car back to EWR...… it will be my pleasure...….but only if you throw in the gas...." LOL

Short of that this sure is looking tough to see that 911 memorial I've been wanting to see. I still remember

watching that happening from the firehouse I was in that day.

Decisions/decisions...… thanks for all the great ideas from everybody......I better hit big in the casino before I get off to afford this it sounds like..... LOL

  6. Didn't see this topic before...….. Can we rent at car at/near the pier and then drop off at EWR before supper...…. is this doable ????

or is it an arm and a leg for the car.... parking at 911 Memorial and then any kind of tolls etc ?

Planned a late flight in anticipation of doing this, and hope I won't be disappointed not being able to pull this off.

This will be on a Saturday for what it's worth. Anybody have an insight on what a "smaller car" would run? (only 2 of us)

Thanks for any insight on how to pull this off. (because of course we'll have a bunch of suitcases in tow)

  7. I don't think she posts on here. She has owned a Travel Agency for probably 20 years and did A LOT of cruise business. For being a small agency, she could compete with anybody on pricing.....she could easily go head to head with the "big boys". She has had 2 agents working for her for close to 20 years. One guy and one gal did an excellent job working for her keeping her good (business) name in good standings with a ton of people. Lori was a great person who always took great care of her clients. I can't of course mention the agency, but if you heard it, I'm sure a lot of people would know it.

    R.I.P. Lori.......those angels up there will need a vacation also :( :(

  8. Just off the Thanksgiving week sailing of the HOTS. This ship is amazing! I sailed with my husband (46) and two teenage sons ages (17) and (14). We have sailed Oasis, Allure, Disney Dream, Norwegian Getaway and Escape as well as Carnival Breeze, so my perspective is comparing HOTS to those ships. Instead of periscoping and writing a full review, I am going to give you tips that I haven't seen on cruise critic, and things that I wanted to know before cruising on HOTS.

    Tips:

Obvious- Book everything early and before you get on the ship.

On day one, get to the port early, get your WOW band first before you eat, you will be eating all day, every day on the ship, so park cafe can be second.

While you are in the Prominade, walk by the casino kiosk and spin the wheel for free prizes. I won free drinks at the casino bar.

If you are an adult and you purchased the drink package, don't bother buying the soda package for the kid in the room, because a soda cup comes with your package. Especially, if your family aren't big soda people. The worst thing about the soda package is the big cup you have to lug around everywhere, and the majority of the kids and I'm assuming the adults forget the cup and leave cups everywhere. Besides, having a cherry coke from the pub "boots and something" is everything.

A little known place that your drink package covers is the vitality spa cafe. Its on the same side as Starbucks and you can get smoothies, coffee, protein shakes and if you want to be totally healthy, get freshly made juices.

Did you know that fountain drinks are complimentary at Johnny Rockets? I didn't, until day 4 when I ate there (Wish I had this list). I love free stuff!!

The Spa---- Bought the couples spa pass on day one. This was a disappointment coming from Norwegian Escape. There is only 6 maybe 7 hot bed loungers in the thermal spa area. When we were there, people were doubling up. We got our money back and enjoyed the vast beauty of the solarium, which is free. We really enjoyed this area at night and found that hideaway area in the front of the solarium that has the glass bottom.

You don't need sneakers to slide down the abyss. But, listen to the instructions, I skinned my elbow coming down the second time. Still super fun.

Ladies, it was not super cold on the ship. I wanted to know this for packing purposes because I get cold easily and I wanted to wear my cute tube tops and spaghetti strap outfits.

The waterslides are super fun, did all three. My suggestion is to do the yellow first, the blue (which is super fast and fun) and then the green which the toilet bowl one.

Here's a huge tip, I've noticed on most ships I've been on, Lunch has the best and most options. Instead of rushing and waking up early to catch the breakfast buffet, just order room service and have your coffee in bed or on your balcony, a slowing enjoy you beautiful vacation morning. Enjoy lunch around 1ish at the hot dog place or any of the vast restaurants that are only available at lunch time. Then you will be good and hungry for dinner reservations.

Add garlic sauce and/or pizza sauce to your already made pizza slice, you'll thank me later.

So much more to add and I have't gotten to the slot machines yet; let me know if you want some more........

whoa.........where are the beverage police at? Are they off duty now ? I thought they'd be piping in by now.......somebody know the # to the beverage police ?:D:eek::D

  9. These gluten free folk are abusive .......For most people .. gluten free is a dietary choice not an allergy. Less than 1 percent of the population is celiac.

Burden someone else with your fake dietary wants..just sayan:rolleyes:

    From my wife:

I have Celiac disease and while I can see your point of it being a choice for most, it is not a choice for me! I ran into the same issue, the cruise line says they have gluten free options, then they do what they do in the buffet place. I was basically told too bad, and had to hunt the dining room Head waiter down every day and special order my food in the buffet area. If they aren't going to adhere to gluten free rules, then don't mark an area gluten free and allow people to taint the food, to where myself or anyone else gets violently ill, which has happened to me on more then one occasion.

  10. No thanks. My cell phone camera works just fine. We do however get one free picture because of our status but rarely do we every buy any others. Give me $100 and I'll take all the pictures you want!!!!!:D:D

There's a great idea.....see which ones you like on the boards and snap a pix of them......I love it ;);):D Good way to save money
