Not yet.  Between us, I also have an assigned cabin.  If I don't get an assignment soon, I'll cancel the guarantee while I'm in the penalty-free period (which ends for me in about 10 days).  I think my odds are good for an upgrade with the GUAR Fantastica OV though, but you know what they say about a bird in the hand.

As you may know, MSC has been more generous with upgrades than any other cruise line that I know of.  Not sure if things will change with their new bid/pay to upgrade program.

My assignment/upgrade came EXACTLY 30 days before cruising.   It seems like the upgrades have zero rhyme or reason.   My cruise was comped by the MSC casino dept after i called them and got them to match my carnival offers.   I'm also cruising at a time where a lot of midwest and northern schools are beginning for the year.

I will say that I DID book excursions and items right before my assignment, so maybe they saw some activity and boom upgraded/assigned me.

  2. In this thread, lets post stateroom assignments and see where people end up.  Try to keep with the following format

    Booked Date/Ship/Promo/Position

Assigned Date, Level, Room Type, Located

    Cruising Date

Booked in Jan. - Comped 8 day on Seaside, Given 400 OBC, OV Bella

Assigned room on 7/17, Given Bella Balcony - Deck 12 Midship

    Cruising 8/17 on the Seaside

  3. Ok, I'll lay out how it worked for me.

I got a letter about 4 weeks ago that I didn't even open from Carnival. Looked like junk mail.

Three days later I got a call from my PVP. I usually blow those calls off, but right as I was pushing her off the phone she said " Please give me a second, this isn't about selling you a cruise". You've been offered a "free cruise"(still have to pay 100 bucks, which they offset with OBC and port fees) I'm a teacher and usually can't take time off. She told me there WERE some christmas sailings available. I booked the Glory from 12/20-12/27 for two people. Interior. She offered me a 4h cabin, but it's too close to the front. I ended up getting an interior deck 7 for 350 bucks for two people. That included 100 OBC.

We couldn't have afforded a 7 days cruise if this wasn't the case. We are 3-5 day cruisers.

As to the casino link. I often spend 100-200 a cruise in the casino. We do our own excursions.

We have sailed twice - 2011 and 2014, and my wife has sailed 3 times 2009, 2011, 2014

My wife is mid-20's and I'm in my early 30's

My offer code (OH5) has expired.

  4. Oh wow, I hope they get this fixed in time for the christmas cruise.

We were really disappointed because the Karoke machine was broken or so they said. We really enjoy karaoke just to hear the bad singers!!LOL. My husband is a real vocalist but I sometimes have a hard time getting him to participate.
  5. It's weird because I normally don't answer calls from my PVP. I answered and was about to blow her off when she said "Can you please give me just a few moments, I have some really great news for you. You have a free cruise waiting". As a teacher, it is impossible for me to cruise during the school year. She just happened to have this one. Small miracle. I was only expecting a three or four day.
