It turns out the deck was packed to the max by noon…not a seat to be found anywhere. In fact, families were using the chairs over in the smoking section up on the pool deck. That’s the first I’ve seen in all of my cruises, kids sitting around the smokers in the smoking section (there’s a toddler resting on those two chairs surrounded by smokers in the smoking section, there are others just sitting up at the tables with the smokers). People throwing their towels and flip flops at the smoking tables to have someplace to put their things. I don’t remember ever seeing a pool deck as packed as I’ve seen here on this Liberty cruise (maybe Carnival Sunshine many years ago). I definitely feel as if I’m on a Carnival ship.
The solarium is no different, packed to the max. No kids over there though.

My saving grace for my June cruise on Liberty may be it’s not going to the warm, beach part of the world but to Canada and not what one would call a family beach holiday. I’m hoping that cruise will not be as packed as this one.

I am enjoying this cruise, any cruise is a great cruise. 😊 But Liberty is not a ship I would book again.

I am also cruising solo in June to Canada!

  2. My son also has SPD and I took him on his first cruise 3 years ago-on Carnival. I didn't put him in the kids club (he is 8 and I wanted to do things with him). I want to tell you that Carnival was WONDERFUL accomodating us for his needs. I prepared for spending time in our cabin when he was overloaded (we did a room service dinner one night). I prepared for down time with the tablet if needed. My son did great (he is older than your child and he had some coping tools in his arsenal). We are going on Rccl Anthem in 25 days and I am very relaxed about it since our experience was so good.

  3. I am going on the 9 day New England/Canada cruise on Sept 20 on the Anthem. While the ship will have AC on at all times, anyone have any idea what the outside temps may be? Short sleeves? Long sleeves? Long pants? Capris?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. You won't be too far from shopping but not right at the pier other then that one place that was mentioned.

    Thanks, Keith!

We will probably opt to stay on the ship. My son won't be too keen on wandering around just to look for a Boston xmas ornament. ;)

  5. What would you want to shop for?

Just a quick souvenir for my son. Nothing big. Ornament, magnet, that kind of thing.

He has some special needs and getting off and wandering around Boston is not really an option.....

  6. My son has Sensory Processing Disorder. We do not use headphones but other OT strategies. He did fantastically with fidgets in his hands (carried them in his pockets). We made sure that we took plenty of breaks. We also always took advantage of the "quiet" times on the ship (early morning and when the ship is in port). One night we ordered room service and we had dinner in. We ate breakfast in the dining room every day and we ate dinner in the buffet (but very early-before the crowds). We talked to the special needs department and got a quiet table off to the side. We are now going on the Anthem in Sept and I am interested to see how we do this time around (it's only his second cruise).

  7. If you buy VOOM for one device, does that mean you can only use it on one SINGLE device-period, or does it mean you can only sign into one device at a time? I would like to use my phone during the day (posting/uploading pics) but my tablet at night (you tube/netflix).

    Thanks!
