  1. Thanks for all the replies.

I realise this is "top end" -with "No competition" but I cannot see this as value for money, more a "what the market will bear" so obviously not for me.

I was looking at the 22 day Buenos Airies to Antratic-Valpariaso Chile cruise for $1532, for far better value and priced accordingly.

    Each to his own.

    Travel much?

A 4 star hotel in a major city will easily set you back $300-400/night. Dinners at >$150/couple. Add transport, entertainment, excursions, booze, and/or whatever else may be provided by a premium/luxury cruise line and you’ll quickly realize that $1k/night is hardly out of line.

  3. Could not get a good focus on the daily activities page so I need to ask a couple of questions...

It looks like the ship sailed at 8 pm from your first port? Is that right? The lifeboat drill was at 5pm? That's what it looks like to me but I want to confirm. We get on the ship heading south from our land tour around 5 pm and hope that we will be able to book Pinnacle Grill or MDR for 6 pm and still have time to see the sail away.

    Nope

IIRC the ship sailed at 5PM (from Vancouver) and the drill was at 4.30 PM

  4. I'm saying it appears to be on the honor system. There is a table if you want to go over and state you brought more than bottle, then pay $18 each. I could have had 6 bottles in my backpack, even liquor and would have got through without a hitch.

    Same experience here.

Backpack scanned, advised they had spotted the two bottles in there and I had to go to the bottle desk to check them in.

Just as a test I just strolled past them and on my way-no-one bothered to ask as there is no comms between the scanner personnel and the bottle table

So IMHO easily open to smuggling:cool:

My two bottles were legit BTW
