  1. DH and I leave on Wednesday for a cruise out of Miami on Thursday. Welove to unplug while cruising and typically could care less about the internet packages. But this is our first time leaving behind DS (he’s 13 months) he’ll be with our parents while we are gone. We are looking into the social package for the Facebook messenger app only. Does anyone have experience with this app on the ship? How well does it work? Can we use it for calling him on the ship or just messages/another form of texting? We are sailing out of Miami going to Cozumel and Key West with 1 sea day. We are thinking we could talk to him in Key West and are hopeful to find WiFi in Cozumel. That only leaves the sea day for the potential that we couldn’t hear from him. Any helpful thoughts on this would be appreciated! Thanks!

  2. On our first cruise my mom and I went to the slide without shoes it was crazy how hot and how much our feet hurt! After that we learned to wear our flip flops up to the slide and just hold them on the way down. We have never been questioned by the staff.

More recently 2 years ago on our cruise I was walking down the hot tub steps and slipped (the other 1/2 of my drink went everywhere— I was not drunk it was literally my one and only drink of the entire cruise)! But it was so scary that I could have hit my head, etc. They def need to put down some none slip strips on the stairs, etc.

  3. Thanks! We love Kroger so we will definitely pick one up! We already paid for our cruise, excursion, and cheers. Any way we can apply this to our account on board for pictures, merchandise, spa, etc we buy onboard? If so how do we do it if our account is set up with DH debit card? Thanks for the tip/help!

  4. We leave Sunday for a 4 night on the carnival victory! I can't wait and could probably go without but I'm curious if anyone knows if this ship has a hairdryer in the rooms? We are staying in an interior room if that matters. Thanks so much! Also I realized I could put this in the carnival victory board but I thought this one may get more attention as we fly out tomorrow.

  5. I love those ports of call!

In Belize we did the snorkeling, but next time I would love to try the cave tubing that has been mentioned.

In Roatan we did the zip lining, you'll find it right after you get off the ship past the port and the taxis. Then we had a taxi driver take us around the island, and to a beach.

In Cozumel we did the dolphin swim, but I also did the park Royal hotel once for the day we were able to use their pools, beach, etc and it included food and drink. We had some friends on the ship that rented a jeep for the day and drove around the island. They seemed to really enjoy their day as well!

Also as mentioned check the port of call boards you will find lots of information there! Have fun!

  6. Had a great time on the catamaran sail! The guys that ran it were friendly and worked hard. They didn't say a lot about the island but did offer some information on the home prices, etc. The sunset sail was beautiful and had a nice time shopping & grabbing a drink near the port.

  7. We had a great time Aruba this past week renting a car. We rented from smart rent a car and everything went off without a hitch! $42 to rent an economy car and $10 to refill it with gas. It was perfect we also printed off google maps to visit all the spots we wanted to see including: arashi beach, lighthouse, alto vista chapel, some old ruins, a random beautiful spot we found, and Charlie's bar. It was the perfect day we didn't have a local telling us about everything but we def saw the island and were able to stay at places as long as we wanted. I would definitely recommend doing this!

  8. I love to dress up! So I wear a dress to dinner every night & sometimes I'll stay in it but other times I I change into something more relaxed but still cute for the dance club/comedy lounge ... Interesting though I was curious myself as to what others did.

  9. Well we have a "schedule" that we love for sea days unfortunately it has to be with being at the pool because we live in ohio ... And if it is hot we usually get a thunderstorm that "ruins" our pool days. So we always eat breakfast in the MDR we love getting served and not fighting the crowds at the buffet. Then we head to the pool to find a place to make our "nest" till lunch at the buffet or the grill, then we participate in the lido activities that afternoon, head to waterworks, grab a drink of the day, get in the hot tub, or go to serenity for a little peace and relaxation) Around 3-4 we go back head to the gym, and nap then order room service. We then get up and get showered, dressed and ready for dinner then we go have a drink somewhere and get into evening festivities before dinner (shops, shows, people watching, pictures for fun). We love it all! As others have said we look through the fun times and keep track if there is something we def. want to do. And each ship is a little different with what they offer! This time we are in a spa room on the breeze so we are excited to try the sports deck and spa area. Either way just remember you're on vacation have a great time!

  11. We are going on a Sunset Cat. Tour and leaving at 4 for that. However, our ship gets in at 1. We are looking to go to a beach, or just do some shopping maybe at a market, or some shops for just a couple hours before leaving for our sunset tour. Can anyone give me a beach that is close by (walking distance or using a taxi with the cost) or directions to a market/shopping area that is near by the cruise port? Thanks for any information/help!

  12. Aruba is not like many tender only ports where docking/anchoring is dependent upon weather. Cruise ships rarely miss calling in Aruba.

Why would you take a chance of being shut out by NOT reserving in advance?

Aruba is an island with a finite, limited number of rental vehicles available for hire.

Low season or not, we have have been on the island in June, low season, and not been able to find a car available last minute.

We have also reserved cars in June, in advance, only to show up and be told there are none available. No thanks to Hertz. ;)

If you want to rent a car while in Aruba, reserve it in advance.

Thanks for the info :) We are going to go ahead and rent a car for $40. Sounds like this is a great plan for safety reasons and a great way to see the islands. Other than the light house, what do you suggest as a must-see? Thanks!

  13. We are looking to rent a jeep in Aruba and tour on our own. We are just curious if it is best to reserve a jeep when we get there or to do it online. Also if anyone has personally used a rental company and could let us know how that was would be great as well. Thanks!!!
