  1. On our Enchantment cruise last New Years they had party hats and favors (many of which the kids played with during dinner). It was a formal night and there were pictures available around dinner time with the party favors. Many guests enjoyed posing with their party, hats and other favors. Afterwards, they had music available everywhere until the countdown. There were several spots you could experience ringing in the New Year and there were people everywhere! There was free champagne close to midnight and everyone had a great time.

  2. I just read another thread on CC about someone being allowed to bring almond milk on board as long as its in the original container and sealed. I'm lactose intolerant and seriously considering doing the same. A quick search should point you in the right direction to the other thread. They even posted the letter they received from RCI.

  3. My husband and I sailed on the Enchantment NYE last year. It was our first cruise and we had a blast! The food and service was great, as far as we were concerned. Our room steward and MDR servers were wonderful. We did MTD and still had the same table and servers. They were incredibly busy at the 7pm seating, however we never felt forgotten or neglected. When we got to Nassau Junkanoo (sp) was going on so the city was shut down. We just walked around and took in the sights.

The ship was excellent, you'll have a blast!

  4. Thank you everyone for all your opinions and ideas!! I really want to go to Puerto Rico so I think I'll take some of the other cruisers advice and stick with the 2nd option and perhaps look at an interior room if we want to save some $$. Btw I'm cruising w my hubby who will just be returning from Afghanistan. I'll gladly spend the extra $$ for a vacation we enjoy, just making sure I'm not missing anything. Thanks again, you guys are great!!!

I just looked and the price of an interior room is higher than the PR so, I guess we'll be keeping what we have. LOL

  5. I can only speak about Option #2. We've sailed Explorer and loved it but we sailed Explorer out of San Juan. Love the ports on Option #2.

Someone else will have to help you out on Option #1 ports. We've only visited Cozumel and have not yet sailed on Vision.

Cabin preference? Do you prefer to look out on the ocean or out on the mall and shops?

Thanks for the reply! We have only sailed once and had an ocean view room. It was nice, however I don't HAVE to have this option. Honestly, we came back to the room during the day and took naps etc so the sunlight was more of a distraction than anything.:)

  6. Debbie, thanks for your reply! Our first sailing was on the Enchantment last year. It was a really quick 4 day cruise from Port Canaveral to Coco Cay and Nassau. We originally chose option one when we booked on the ship, but after more research I thought Option 2 looked nicer. Just wondering what more experienced cruisers may see that I don't.

  7. Fellow cruisers,

I'm having a very tough time choosing a cruise. I have two options.

Option 1: Cruise out of Tampa. 8 Day cruise to Roatan, Belize City, Costa Maya and Cozumel. Ocean View room on Vision of the Seas.

Option 2: Cruise out of Port Canaveral. 9 Day cruise to Labadee, St. Croix, St. Marteen, and San Juan. Promenade View room on Explorer of the Seas.

The dilemma is the first option saves us around $500, however its not an itinerary I'm really excited about. I don't know much about either ship to have a preference. This is our second sailing so we're newbies. Can you experienced cruisers help me out??

    Thanks! :D

  8. I don't have any drink menus, however in my research of whether it was worth it I found that you would have to drink around 6 drinks each day. If you have more than this everyday it is worth paying for the package, or if you like to experiment with drinks etc. Maybe this will help.

  9. I have a question of the reverse (sort of). Our last cruise my husband and I did MTD and dined alone the entire cruise. I think this cruise we would like to dine with people, however we're scheduled for MTD again. Is there a way to be seated with table mates if you want to dine at an off time? Last cruise, we dined @7:30 each night. Any advice or experience is appreciated!

  10. I'm glad I read this because it has put me back in check. I'm always anal about locking things up however this past trip we just took we were very complacent and I know there were days I left my iPhone out. Very fortunate nothing happened but will be paying attention again here on out. Sorry this happened to you!

Same here! We were on our first cruse and brought electronics that we often left 'out'. Thanks for the reminder OP, sorry it was triggered by such an unfortunate circumstance.
